Default Leonid Brezhnev.........was he Moral?

Dear Friends
kind regards
I thought that I would make a thread about a statesman who is rarely talked about but very interesting.
Leonid Brezhnev was the soviet leader from 1964 to 1982.
Here is a speech that Brezhnev made in 1979.

Here are two interesting articles about him.
1. http://www.spacewar.com/reports/100_...zhnev_999.html
2. http://www.socialaffairsunit.org.uk/...ves/001125.php
Apparently he was well liked and popular in the eyes of the Russian masses, but his reign was one of economic stagnation.
He was a Communist, but liked the Western materialism to a good degree.
People were happy during his reign, but not tremendously well off in terms of material benefits.
Brezhnev praised Joseph Stalin's reign, but refrained from the brutality that his hero was known for.
Brezhnev also created a kind of edgy truce with the USA in the 70's whilst having a small war with China in a boarder dispute.
He called for a detente with the West and eventually launched an invasion of Afghanistan which bought that to an end.
Certainly the man was interesting and hasn't been discussed.
What are your views and knowledge on Leonid Breznhev?
If you could give me your views and knowledge on this man I'd appreciate it.
yours thankfully
John
