Question Solfeggio Frequencies and Music

After looking at this thread, and downloading/listening to the music track, Ive been trying to find artists and CDs that are based on these frequencies, but am having trouble. I am aware of the youtube videos in this thread, and the other limited videos on youtube (one of the other videos is the music that made up the mp3 in the first thread reference), but cannot seem to find much more than that.

There seems to be a good deal of information about what Solfeggio Frequencies are, but not much in the way of composed music. So I am posting this thread in hopes that those who are interested in the SFs, and have found music and/or information that is based on them, will post and help others with like minds.

Some links containing information I have found through some easy searches:

http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/disc...693&pst=847969 (this link was posted by someone in the first referenced thread. Most of the posted videos are no longer available)

http://www.redicecreations.com/speci...solfeggio.html

http://sedona11-11.blogspot.com/ (the links at the bottom to SF music are dead)

http://www.lightwithin.com/SomaEnerg...requencies.htm (has limited information on SF, but explains some "sound therapy" things that may be relevant)

Links directly to some of the youtube videos with short SF music. They are quite beautiful, though some tones mights not agree with some people. I personally have a hard time listening to 396Hz

Along with these five frequencies, there is a sixth at 417Hz, that I cant find an example of. Some sites (first info link) also list an additional 12 SFs.

Anyway, if anyone is wondering what the Solfeggio Frequencies are, a very, very brief explination is that they are the 6 (maybe 18) frequencies that resonate with the body in such a way to promote various effects. Such as the frequency 528Hz is said to be a frequency that can actually stimulate DNA to repair itself. The frequencies (Hz) are (red being the 6 original):

1- 147
2- 174
3- 258
4- 285
5- 369
6- 396
7- 417
8- 471
9- 528
10- 582
11- 639
12- 693
13- 714
14- 741
15- 825
16- 852
17- 936
18- 963

I suspect there may be any number of frequencies beyond these that could resonate with the body.

I don't understand why these so-called "solfeggio frequencies" aren't just described as a G major scale without the seventh.

Solfeggio is a teaching method for singing in any key in any mode
(do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, te, do).

I bought Brian Allan's CD at a conference and tried it out. I didn't feel anything strange, but then I only did it twice.

I had a look round for software that could covert music files to the SF without success.

Does anyone know of such software?

Not for Solfegio but there are a few people using Lucy tuning, which is said to produce a more visceral musical effect than standard tuning.

Scala comes with Megamid, which will convert MIDI files to any tuning.

Having followed numerous threads about tuning on various boards recently, I´m surprised that nobody has yet mentioned the overtone series(OS) in respect to all this. It´s all very well saying 528Hz is the frequency of love and should be incorporated in your music but due to the OS and the human auditory system you will not hear a pure 528Hz tone (or any other pure frequency) in music.

I didn't quite understand that bit. Horowitz is an interesting guy, but hard to follow sometimes.

It can be done with Audacity which is free. You'll have to search for a tutorial or try and figure it out yourself as I can't remember how to do it now.

The problem is (for MP3's music): first off Audacity has to convert from MP3 to a WAV file before it can alter the file and then it needs to convert it back to MP3 when it's all done. This isn't particularly fast and is dependent on your PC speed. You'll also need the "Lame MP3 encoder" plugin for Audacity.

I think you might be right.

Can you give me a succinct definition of "harmonic discordance"? I Googled it and couldn't find anything sensible.

Something that is lacking in harmony I think.
