Lightbulb Sun is shinin' deep beneath the sea

"Way Down" is a song recorded by Elvis Presley. Recorded in October 1976, it was the last single released before his death on August 16, 1977...

Default So what does Elvis do for a crust?

In a sign that perhaps not ANYTHING will sell, Elvis' stained crusty underpants were passed in at auction in the UK. The current proud owner can take the framed glass encased crusty pair back home to once again grace the wall of his / her billiards room ... with who knows what other curious pieces of "öbject d'art".

The crusty "trophy" did attract bids of GBP 5,000, but failed to surpass the resrve of GBP 7.000.

His annotated Bible though sold for a hefty price of GBP59,000 ... more than double the GBP 25,000 reserve price. The purchaser is a British based American.

Quote:
A bible used by Elvis Presley has sold at auction in England for STG59,000 ($92,007).

The holy book, given to Presley on his first Christmas in Graceland in 1957, was expected to raise around STG25,000, but went for more than double the price.

But a pair of The King's briefs, unwashed and still soiled, went unsold.

Bids for the light-blue underpants worn underneath his famous white jumpsuit during a 1977 concert performance, reached STG5000, failing to meet the STG7000 reserve price.

The entire Elvis collection, owned by a single British collector, sold for just over STG100,000 at the sale at Omega Auctions in Stockport, Cheshire.

The bible was used by Presley throughout his life until his death on August 16, 1977. It contains his handwritten notes, thoughts, annotations and underlining throughout.

Poignantly, one of the many lines emphasised by the troubled singer states: "What is a man advantaged if he gain the whole world and lose himself or be cast away."

The successful bidder, who did not want to be identified, was an American man based in the UK.

A movie contract signed by Elvis for the 1962 film, Follow That Dream, went for STG6000 and a pair of shoes made by Black Flagg Brothers, owned and worn by Elvis, sold for STG6500.

And to get in early on any poor taste jokes:

Q: What did Elvis do for a crust?
A: Wore the same pair of briefs for a week?

... boom boom ...

Talking Corporal Light

The discovery was one for the pages of an archaeology classic, something with a title like “Gods, Graves and Scat.”
The sample of fossilized feces that was radiocarbon dated to 12,300 BC and contains preserved 14,000-year-old human protein and DNA.

Some people, coming into new country long ago, stopped at a cave for years perhaps, or only a day’s rest. Time enough, in any event, for them to relieve themselves — you know, answer nature’s call, if they bothered with euphemism. The cave was their in-house outhouse.

Exploring Paisley Caves in the Cascade Range of Oregon, archaeologists have found a scattering of human coprolites, or fossil feces. The specimens preserved 14,000-year-old human protein and DNA, which the discoverers said was the strongest evidence yet of the earliest people living in North America...

Lightbulb Elvisaurus

Cryolophosaurus (meaning "cold crest lizard") was a large theropod dinosaur, with a crest on its head that looked like a Spanish comb. Due to the resemblance of this feature to Elvis Presley's pompadour haircut from the 1950s, this dinosaur was at one point informally known as "Elvisaurus"...Although the evidence is rare, fossils reveal that there were dinosaurs in New Zealand. Possibly because it lacks the right conditions for fossilisation, only 200 t-rexs full skeletal structure have been found and fragments of bone and a few vertebrae have been found there. Marine fossils are more common than fossils of land animals in New Zealand because dead animals and plants are easily preserved in sand and mud. Therefore, some fossils of large marine reptiles are nearly complete, and so can be identified to species...Tuatara,("peaks on the back") the common (Māori) name for three species of reptile in the Sphenodon genus, is referred to as a "living dinosaur"...

Moanasaurus ( Māori moana "sea" and Greek sauros "lizard"; meaning "Sea Lizard") was a genus of mosasaur from the Late Cretaceous period. Its fossil remains have been discovered in the North Island of New Zealand. Moanasaurus was a very large mosasaurine known originally from a disarticulated skull, vertebrae, ribs and paddle bones. It reached 12 m in length and the skull is 78 cm, which shows that Moanasaurus was one of the largest in the family of mosasaurinae...

Elvis Presley's bible fetches $94,600 at UK auction...

The bible, given to the singer on his first Christmas at his home in Graceland in 1957, was bought by an American man based in Britain, Omega Auctions said on its website.

The religious book, used by Presley until his death on August 16, 1977, was expected to fetch around 25,000 pounds but went for more than double its value.

But a pair of Presley's unwashed and soiled underpants, worn underneath his famous white jumpsuit during a 1977 concert, went unsoiled...
