Wayne Madsen: China Fired Missile Seen In Southern California

Wayne Madsen Report
November 10, 2010

Pentagon and its embedded media covering up Chinese show of force off LA

China flexed its military muscle Monday evening in the skies west of Los Angeles when a Chinese Navy Jin class ballistic missile nuclear submarine, deployed secretly from its underground home base on the south coast of Hainan island, launched an intercontinental ballistic missile from international waters off the southern California coast. WMR’s intelligence sources in Asia, including Japan, say the belief by the military commands in Asia and the intelligence services is that the Chinese decided to demonstrate to the United States its capabilities on the eve of the G-20 Summit in Seoul and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Tokyo, where President Obama is scheduled to attend during his ten-day trip to Asia.

The reported Chinese missile test off Los Angeles came as a double blow to Obama. The day after the missile firing, China’s leading credit rating agency, Dagong Global Credit Rating, downgraded sovereign debt rating of the United States to A-plus from AA. The missile demonstration coupled with the downgrading of the United States financial grade represents a military and financial show of force by Beijing to Washington.

The Pentagon spin machine, backed by the media reporters who regularly cover the Defense Department, as well as officials of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), and the U.S. Northern Command, is now spinning various conspiracy theories, including describing the missile plume videotaped by KCBS news helicopter cameraman Gil Leyvas at around 5:00 pm Pacific Standard Time, during the height of evening rush hour, as the condensation trail from a jet aircraft. Other Pentagon-inspired cover stories are that the missile was actually an amateur rocket or an optical illusion.

Experts agree that this was a ballistic missile being fired off of Los Angeles. Pentagon insists it was a jet aircraft or model rocket.

There are no records of a plane in the area having taken off from Los Angeles International Airport or from other airports in the region. The Navy and Air Force have said that they were not conducting any missile tests from submarines, ships, or Vandenberg Air Force Base. The Navy has also ruled out an accidental firing from one of its own submarines.

Missile experts, including those from Jane’s in London, say the plume was definitely from a missile, possibly launched from a submarine. WMR has learned that the missile was likely a JL-2 ICBM, which has a range of 7,000 miles, and was fired in a northwesterly direction over the Pacific and away from U.S. territory from a Jin class submarine. The Jin class can carry up to twelve such missiles.

Navy sources have revealed that the missile may have impacted on Chinese territory and that the National Security Agency (NSA) likely posseses intercepts of Chinese telemtry signals during the missile firing and subsequent testing operations.

Japanese and other Asian intelligence agencies believe that a Chinese Jin-class SSBN submarine conducted missile “show of force” in skies west of Los Angeles.

Asian intelligence sources believe the submarine transited from its base on Hainan through South Pacific waters, where U.S. anti-submarine warfare detection capabilities are not as effective as they are in the northern and mid-Pacific, and then transited north to waters off of Los Angeles. The Pentagon, which has spent billions on ballistic missile defense systems, a pet project of former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, is clearly embarrassed over the Chinese show of strength.

Likely route of Jin-class submarine from Hainan base.

The White House also wants to donwplay the missile story before Presidnet Obama meets with his Chinese counterpart in Seoul and Tokyo. According to Japanese intelligence sources, Beijing has been angry over United States and allied naval exercises in the South China and Yellow Seas, in what China considers its sphere of influence, and the missile firing within the view of people in Southern California was a demonstration that China’s navy can also play in waters off the American coast.

For the U.S. Navy, the Chinese show of force is a huge embarassment, especially for the Navy’s Pacific Command in Pearl Harbor, where Japan’s December 7, 1941 attack on the fleet at Pearl Harbor remains a sore subject.

In 2002, national security adviser Condoleezza Rice reportedly scolded visiting Chinese General Xiong Guankai, the deputy chief of staff for intelligence of the People’s Liberation Army, for remarks he allegedly made in 1995 that China would use nuclear weapons on Los Angeles. Xiong denied he made any such comments but the “spin” on the story helped convince Congress to sink billions of additional dollars into ballistic missile defense, sometimes referred to at “Star Wars II.”

Thanks for the link, Wakeup. Would you believe that some people are trying to pass off an obvious missile launch for a contrail? Have those people ever watched a rocket launch? That's no contrail.

But why? Wasn't this the false flag they were looking for to scare and unite the slaves behind the president? I mean, China being THIS blunt off of the coast of LA, what would unite the American people behind their president and his military might more than something like that?

Well, for one, maybe the American people would question WHY China has made such a show of force, in international waters, off the west coast of the US. 2nd, do you really think that the US want to go up against China, who seem to have an uncanny ability of popping up in just the wrong places, without being detected. I'm sure that the US and western world have underestimated the ability of the Chinese.

No, I don't think that the USA would want to go up against China... then again, if Cousin Barry expects this to be his only term, I don't know how his republican follow-up puppet will feel about going up against China. Orchestrating a "china-scare" could just be the thing that unites America behind the president, whoever that is.

This is the kind of news you haven't heard up until after the missile launch..

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2010-1...port-says.html

Chinese Missiles Could Close U.S. Bases in Attack, Report Says
By Tony Capaccio - Nov 11, 2010 5:12 PM GMT

The Chinese military’s non-nuclear missiles have “the capability to attack” and close down five of six major U.S. Air Force bases in South Korea and Japan, an unpublished government report says.

China’s improved inventory of short- and medium-range missiles provides a “dramatic increase” in its ability to “inhibit” U.S. military operations in the western Pacific, according to excerpts from the draft of the 2010 annual report by the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission scheduled for release on Nov. 17.

China’s current force “may be sufficient” to destroy runways, parked aircraft, fuel and maintenance facilities at Osan and Kunsan air bases in South Korea, and Kadena, Misawa and Yokota bases in Japan, the report says. The facilities are within 1,100 kilometers (684 miles) of China.

An upgraded missile arsenal, including a 30 percent increase in cruise missiles since last year, “poses a significant challenge to U.S. forces operating in the region,” the report says. Defense Secretary Robert Gates in June called China’s improved missile arsenal “a real concern” that also threatens U.S. aircraft carriers.

Wang Baodong, a spokesman for the Chinese Embassy in Washington didn’t respond to an e-mail seeking comment.

The 12-member bipartisan commission was created by Congress in 2000 to monitor the U.S. national security implications of China’s economic and military rise and to report annually to lawmakers with recommendations for U.S. action.

Spending on Fortifications

The commission’s 2010 report says Congress should evaluate Pentagon spending to fortify bases from Chinese attack, including missile defenses, early warning systems, runway repairs and hardening buildings and hangars.

Increased military spending could benefit companies that make sea-based missile defense and electronic warfare systems, such as Bethesda, Maryland-based Lockheed Martin Corp., Waltham, Massachusetts-based Raytheon Co., and Los Angeles-based Northrop Grumman Corp., said Loren Thompson, a defense analyst with the Lexington Institute in Arlington, Virginia.

Also standing to gain are ship and submarine makers Northrop Grumman and General Dynamics Corp., based in Falls Church, Virginia, said James McAleese, a consultant to defense companies.

The report also said U.S. Pacific commanders, as part of their annual budget statements, should report on the “adequacy of the U.S. military’s capability to withstand Chinese air and missile assault on regional bases” as well as steps being taken to strengthen U.S. defenses.

More Explicit Warning

The commission’s conclusions are “certainly much stronger” and “much more explicit” than related findings in the Pentagon’s own annual report on Chinese military developments, said Mark Stokes, an analyst for the non-profit Project 2049 Institute in Arlington, Virginia, that studies Asia security issues.

The commission’s report says a decade of improvements in ballistic missiles and in advanced aircraft carrying precision- guided weapons “have greatly improved China’s ability to carry out” a strategy designed to hinder or prevent the U.S. from operating in the region or from aiding Taiwan in a conflict.

Separately, the commission warns that “the future deployment” of China’s new anti-ship ballistic missile “could seriously interfere” with U.S. regional access.

China “appears to be in the final stage of developing” the missile capable of targeting large ships at sea such as aircraft carriers,’’ the report says.

The missile, with a range of almost 900 miles, would be fired from mobile, land-based launchers and is “specifically designed to defeat U.S. carrier strike groups,” the U.S. Office of Naval Intelligence has reported.

Higher Profile

The Pentagon places a “high priority” on responding to the increased threat to U.S. bases and vessels and it “is soon to gain a much higher profile as a critical public policy challenge,” said Richard Fisher, a senior fellow at the International Assessment and Strategy Center, a nonpartisan research group based in Alexandria, Virginia.

Some of that higher profile may come from Republican lawmakers, after their party takes control of the U.S. House in January, who may advocate a tougher approach toward China.

“We have to look at the totality” of China’s efforts, said Representative Randy Forbes of Virginia, the top Republican on the House Armed Services readiness subcommittee.

When lawmakers focus on emerging challenges in areas from cyber warfare to aircraft carriers to missiles, they’ll say, “we better be changing our readiness capability,” said Forbes, co-founder of the Congressional China Caucus.

I think the US has 5k nuclear weapons and its deadly spawn Israel the 2nd largest nuclear arsenal in the World.

Also don't forget the good ol US has the "Son of Star Wars" and whatever "Black projects" are hidden in places like Area 51 etc.

China would be fools to underestimate how far advanced the US are in terms of technological warfare.

They'd be better destroying the US economically as they are at the moment.

The Fed has already started the war by printing more money to devalue the dollar to try to force people to by exports from them..

China are a secretive nation and will have technology the average person couldn't imagine, who knows what they got? America definitely dont know, that's for sure, just check the last article i posted.

Exactly! The MSM have been trying to smear the story right from the get go.

just look at this picture from a news article that was trying to convince the reader it was a contrail

http://www.newscientist.com/article/...ys-expert.html

Mystery 'missile' likely a jet contrail, says expert

This is the pic from the Helicopter footage

Its obvious The MSM shills where ordered the smear the real story.

its easy to see why people fell for the dissinfo though with the media working overtime to smear it.

Theres only one nation on this planet who has the capability to shoot down intercontinental nuclear missiles from space, that gives the US a massive edge should the above scenario occur.

BEIJING, November 9 (Itar-Tass) - China has always considered cooperation with the Russian Army as priority direction of international cooperation in the military sphere, China’s Central Military Commission chairman Guo Boxiong said on Tuesday at talks with Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov.

The Russian defense minister is in China for an official visit, during which he also takes part in the 15th session of the Russian-Chinese intergovernmental commission for military-technical cooperation. Several major documents are to be signed after the session.

“China puts much emphasis on your visit,” Guo Boxiong stressed. He said that on Tuesday Serdyukov would also meet with Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping and Defense Minister Liang Guanglie.

“We are confident that your visit will be a powerful impetus for the development of Russian-Chinese interstate and inter-army relations,” Colonel General Guo Boxiong stressed.

“We have always considered our cooperation with the Russian Army as priority direction of international cooperation in the military sphere,” he added.
