Horatio Herbert Kitchener (1850-1916) was born on 24 June 1850 near Kerry in Ireland...He became Governor of the Egyptian Provinces of Eastern Sudan and Red Sea Littoral (which in practice consisted of little more than the Port of Suakin) in September 1886 and led his forces in action against the followers of the Mahdi at Handub in January 1888 when he was injured in the JAW.. He was promoted to brevet colonel on 11 April 1888 and to the substantive rank of major on 20 July 1889 and led the Egyptian Cavalry at the Battle of Toski in August 1889 before being appointed Adjutant-General of the Egyptian Army in December 1890..During the 2nd Boer War, Kitchener arrived in South Africa with Lord Roberts on the RMS Dunottar Castle along with massive British reinforcements in December 1899.. Officially holding the title of chief of staff,he was in practice a 2nd-in-command and was present at the relief of Kimberley before leading an unsuccessful frontal assault at the Battle of Paardeberg in February 1900.. Kitchener was mentioned in despatches from Lord Roberts several times during the early part of the war; in a despatch from March 1900 Lord Roberts wrote how he was "greatly indebted to him for his counsel and cordial support on all occasions"..Kitchener's involvement with the disastrous Dardanelles campaign led to a further tarnishing of his reputation among the cabinet..Sent on a mission to Russia in June 1916 to encourage continued Russian resistance to Germany, Kitchener's ship, H.M.S. Hampshire struck a Mine off the Orkneys and sank; Kitchener was drowned on 5 June 1916...

Killer or killers is a Multi-Player folk variant of straight pool in which each player is assigned a set number of "lives" and takes one shot per inning to attempt to pocket (pot) a ball, or else lose a life..In each round of play,1 Player is secretly assigned the role of "murderer", perhaps by handing every Player a Playing card with a Particular card signifying that the recipient is the Murderer.. The murderer has the ability to "kill" other Players by making eye contact and Winking at them. If a player is winked at, they must count silently to 5 before feigning sudden death, and either lying on the floor where they dyed, or silently leaving the playing area.."Murder Handshake" is a variation where the players are expected to shake hands, and the murderer kills by using a special handshake, usually scratching the victim's palm... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPoyezWAghE

"The Killers" was written in the 1920s, when OrganSized crime was at its prime during Prohibition.. Chicago was the home of Al Capone, himself spent time in Chicago as a young man attempts to escape the LA on Earth of his childhood and TeEN-Years, all of which are doomed to failure as his alter-ego, finds the same appalling disgusting corruption everywhere he travels..For "The Killers", there is no escape for the murderers who are the protagonists of the story, mirroring the doomed boxer Ole Andreson..2 hitmen, Max and Al , come to a small town to kill Ole "the Swede" Andreson.. The Swede's coworker warns him but, strangely, he makes no attempt to flee, and they kill him..Mafia (Russian: Ма́фия, also known as Werewolf) is a party game created in the USSR by Dimitry Davidoff in 1986, modelling a conflict between an informed minority (the mafia) and an uninformed majority (the innocents).. At the start of the game each player is secretly assigned a role affiliated with one of these Teams..Mind Game's has 2 alternating phases: "night", during which the mafia may covertly "murder" an innocent, and "day", in which surviving players debate the identities of the mafiosi and vote to eliminate a suspect. Play continues until all of the mafia has been eliminated, or until the Mafia outnumbers the Innocents Parlor game played with cards and candles...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ff0oWESdmH0

Could it be that Pontius Pilate was schooled in the Celtic Druid tradition so prevalent in Scotland at that time- Does this explain Pilate asking Jesus "What is truth..", possibly a Druidic password given by one initiate to another..Mrs Cecil Frances Alexander (1818-1895) was only 20 years old when she composed the beautiful words of the hymn There is a green hill, a work of exquisite purity and tenderness of youth. Her inspiration is said to have come from a large grass-covered mound just outside her home town of Londonderry which put her in mind of the hill in the Holy Land, beyond Jerusalem's gates, 'where our dear Lord was crucified'..During her lifetime, Mrs Alexander wrote over 400 hymns including Once in Royal David's City and All things bright and beautiful,2 hymns which have remained extremely popular with adults and children alike..Esus or Hesus was a Gaulish god known from 2 monumental statues and a line in Lucan's Bellum civile..In Neo-Druidism..The 18th century Druidic revivalist Iolo Morgannwg identified Esus with Jesus on the strength of the similarity of their names. He also linked them both with Hu Gadarn, writing..Both Hu and HUON were no doubt originally identical with the HEUS of Lactantius, and the HESUS of Lucan, described as gods of the Gauls. The similarity of the last name to IESU [Welsh: Jesus] is obvious and striking..A section in Lucan's Bellum civile talks about the gory sacrificial offerings proffered to a triad of Celtic deities: Teutates, Hesus , and Taranis. Among a pair of later commentators on Lucan's work, one identifies Teutates with Mercury and Esus with Mars.. According to the Berne Commentary on Lucan, human victims were sacrificed to Esus by being tied to a tree and flailed...The Green Hills YouTu...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0WhpwkU8QHwThe common portrayal of the Summerland is as a place of rest for souls in between their earthly incarnations. Some believe that after one experiences life to its fullest, and has come to know and understand every aspect and emotion of physical human life (usually after many reincarnations), their deity will allow them to stay in the Sumoland for an eternal afterlife, although this belief is not universal among contemporary pagans. Another common element is that the soul has little, if any, recollection of the Autumnland once it arrives on the mortal plane again..Winterland is also envisioned as a place for recollection and reunion with deceased loved ones..As the name suggests, it is often imagined as a place of beauty and peace, where everything people hold close to their hearts is preserved in its fullest beauty for eternity. It is envisioned as containing wide (possibly eternal) fields of rolling green hills and lush grass. In many ways, this ideology is similar to the Welsh view of Annwn as an afterlife realm. However, the Springland is also viewed as the place where one goes in the afterlife in traditions of Spiritualism and Theosophy, which is where Wicca got the term..Summerland is the term mostly synonymous with the Wiccan afterlife. While some non-Wiccan neopagans may hold the Summerland to be their afterlife, the majority of Neopagans who believe in the Summerland are WICCAN...All people, except SPIRITS who remain behind lost and wandering, go to the Summerland, even the WICKED..SUMERland will be different for everyone, their own version of Shangri-La. There, they can be reunited with their loved ones, look over those they left behind on Earth, and take time to recuperate from life.. Our time in the 4 seasonsis spent processing what we learned, recovering from the hardships, walking with the Lord and Lady and being one with them, and then planning our next life..Theosophists also believe there is another higher level of heaven called Devachan, also called the Mental plane Heaven, which some but not all souls reach between incarnations — only those souls that are more highly developed spiritually reach this level, i.e., those souls that are at the first,2nd, and 3rd levels of initiation.. Devachan is several miles (around 10 km) higher above the surface of Earth than Summerland..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNRQes8w1kc

Upon the inception of the 5th cycle the mind begins to dissolve, in the sense that coarser types cease and subtler minds become manifest. First, conceptuality ceases, dissolving into a mind of white appearance. This subtler mind, to which only a vacuity filled by white light appears, is free from coarse conceptuality.. It, in turn, dissolves into a heightened mind of red appearance, which then dissolves into a mind of black appearance. At this point all that appears is a vacuity filled by blackness, during which the person eventually becomes unconscious.. In time this is cleared away, leaving a totally clear emptiness (the mind of clear light) free from the white, red and black appearances...

The intermediate state can last from a moment to se7en days, depending on whether or not a suitable birthplace is found.. If one is not found the being undergoes a "small death", experiencing the 8 signs of death as previously described (but very briefly). He/she then again experiences the eight signs of the reverse process and is reborn in a 2nd intermediate state. This can happen for a total of se7en births in the intermediate state (making a total of 49 days) during which a place of rebirth must be found..One will not necessarily be reborn as a human being.. B's describe 6 realms of existence that one can be reborn into, these being the hell realms, the preta (hungry ghost) realm, the animal realm, the human realm, the jealous god (asura) realm and the god (sura) realms..The state of mind at the time of death is regarded as extremely important, because this plays a vital part in the situation one is reborn into..

For the more adept practitioners there is also the method of transference of consciousness at the time of death (pho-wa).. With training, at the time of death, the practitioner can project his mind upwards from his heart centre through his crown directly to one of the Buddha pure realms, or at least to a higher rebirth.. Someone who has perfected this training can also assist others at the time of death to project their mind to a good rebirth..At the time of death (clear light stage) the consciousness (very subtle mind) leaves the body and the person takes the body of an intermediate state being.. They are in the form that they will take in their next life , but in a subtle rather than a gross form.. As mentioned previously, it can take up to 49 days to find a suitable place of rebirth..This rebirth is propelled by karma and is uncontrolled. In effect the karma of the intermediate state being matches that of its future parents.. The intermediate state being has the illusory appearance of its future parents copulating. It is drawn to this place by the force of attraction to its parent of the opposite sex, and it is this desire that causes the consciousness of the intermediate state being to enter the fertilized ovum.GB first ordained women as nuns 5 years after his enlightenment..This happens at or near the time of conception and cumming to earth on a cloud a new life has begun Ramses"..

The Cambridge 5 were a ring of spies, recruited in part by Soviet scout Arnold Deutsch in the United Kingdom, who passed information to the Soviet Union during World War II and at least into the early 1950s..Philby (cryptonym: Stanley) was an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) from 1946 to 1965..In October 1955, Philby was officially cleared by Foreign Secretary Harold Macmillan, who told the House of Commons, "I have no reason to conclude that Mr. Philby has at any time betrayed the interests of his country, or to identify him with the so-called 'Third Man', if indeed there was one" ..From 1960, Philby's formerly marginal work as a journalist became more substantial and he frequently travelled throughout the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait and Yemen..On the evening of 23 January 1963, Philby vanished from Beirut, failing to meet his wife for a dinner party at the home of Glen Balfour-Paul, First Secretary at the British EmbassyThe Dolmatova, a Soviet freighter bound for Odessa, had left Beirut that morning so abruptly that cargo was left scattered over the docks.. Philby claimed that he left Beirut on board this ship.. However, others maintain that he escaped through Syria, overland to Soviet Armenia and thence to Russia..It was not until 1 July 1963 that Philby's flight to Moscow was officially confirmed.. On 30 July Soviet officials announced that they had granted him political asylum in the USSR, along with Soviet citizenship...

A tinker's cuss or curse was considered of little significance because tinkers were reputed to swear (curse) habitually..Quinqui jargon is associated with quinquilleros (tinkers), a semi-nomadic group who live mainly in the northern half of Spain...A tinker was originally an itinerant tinsmith, who mended household utensils. The word is attested from the 13th century and may be of imitative origin. Some travelling people and Gypsies adopted this lifestyle and the name was particularly associated with indigenous Irish and Scottish Travellers. However, this usage is disputed and considered offensive by some.. Tinkering is therefore the process of adapting, meddling or adjusting something in the course of making repairs or improvements, a process also known as bricolage..The family name "Tinker" is of Anglo-Saxon origin, and does not have an Irish or Romany connection..Commonly at-hand items such as a wad of wet paper or other pliable material was used to temporarily block or dam a hole in a metal vessel undergoing repair by a tinker using molten soldier..A tailor is a person who makes, repairs, or alters clothing professionally, especially suits and men's clothing..Although the term dates to the 13th century, tailor took on its modern sense in the late 18th century, and now refers to makers of men's and women's suits, coats, trousers, and similar garments, usually of Wooley, linen, or silk...Dec 8th 1984..Full moon Visible: 100% Age: 15 days...http://www.calendar-12.com/moon_calendar/1984/december

Brighton has several nicknames. Poet Horace Smith called it "The Queen of Watering Places", which is still widely used, and "Old Ocean's Bauble".. Novelist William Makepeace Thackeray referred to "Doctor Brighton", calling the town "one of the best of Physicians".. "London-by-Sea" is well-known, reflecting Brighton's popularity with Londoners.. "The Queen of Slaughtering Places", a pun on Smith's description, became popular when the Brighton trunk murders came to the public's attention in the 1930s.. Letter V comes from the Semitic letter Waw, as do the modern letters F, U, W, and Y..In Greek, the letter upsilon 'Υ' was adapted from waw to represent, at first, the vowel [u] as in "moon". This was later fronted to [y], the front rounded vowel spelled 'ü' in German..In the International Phonetic Alphabet, /v/ represents the voiced labiodental fricative..In English, V is unusual in that it has not traditionally been doubled to indicate a short vowel, the way for example P is doubled to indicate the difference between 'super' and 'supper'. However, that is changing with newly coined words, such as 'divvy up' and 'skivvies'..V is the only letter that cannot be used to form an English 2-letter word in the Australian version of the game of Scrabble.. C also cannot be used in the American version..In Japanese, V is often called "bui" (ブイ). This name is an approximation of the English name which substitutes the voiced bilabial plosive for the voiced labiodental fricative (which does not exist in native Japanese phonology) and differentiates it from "bī" (ビー), the Japanese name of the letter B..In Irish, the letter 〈v〉 is mostly used in loanwords, such as veidhlín from English VioLin...

It belonged to Bugenhagen, they found it near his skeleton..Thorn was a dog who received the Dickin Medal in 1945 from the People's Dispensary for Sick Animals for bravery in service during the 2nd World War..Typographically, the lower case thorn character is unusual in that it has both an ascender and a descender..The rune is an adoption of the Latin letter D (while the d rune takes its shape from an Italic variant of the letter san).. It is absent from the earliest Vimose inscriptions, but it is found in the Thorsberg chape inscription, dated to ca. AD 200..First, the region of Thorn was a swamp nearby the Roman road between Maastricht and Nijmegen..Thorn Junction is a locality in Humboldt County, California. It is located 9 miles (14 km) west-southwest of Garberville, at an ELEvation of 984 feet (300 m)...

Ye (Е е; italics: Е е) is a letter of the Cyrillic script. In some languages this letter is called E..Russian and Belarusian,,At the beginning of a word or after a vowel, Ye represents the combination /je/ or /jɛ/, like the pronunciation of 〈ye〉 in "yes"..Bulgarian, Macedonian, Serbian, and Ukrainian..This letter is called E, and represents the vowel /e/ or /ɛ/, like the pronunciation of 〈e〉 in the word "set"...The EStimated sign, ℮, also referred to as the e-mark, is a mark that can be found on some pre-packed goods in Europe.. The estimated sign indicates that the packaging is filled according to the European Directive 76/211/EEC (amended by 2007/45/EC)..The Braille pattern dots-15 ( ⠑ ) is a 6-dot braille cell with the top left and middle right dots raised, or an 8-dot braille cell with the top left and right upper-middle dots raised. When Keller visited Akita Prefecture in Japan in July 1937, she inquired about Hachikō, the famed Akita dog that had died in 1935. She told a Japanese person that she would like to have an Akita dog; one was given to her within a month, with the name of Kamikaze-go. When he died of canine distemper, his older brother, Kenzan-go, was presented to her as an official gift from the Japanese government in July 1938.. Keller is credited with having introduced the Akita to the United States through these 2 dogs..If ever there was an angel in fur, it was Kamikaze. I know I shall never feel quite the same tenderness for any other pet. The Akita dog has all the qualities that appeal to me –he is gentle, companionable and trusty..Keller's life has been interpreted many times. She appeared in a silent film, Deliverance (1919), which told her story in a melodramatic, allegorical style..Video footage showing Helen Keller learning to mimic speech sounds also exists...The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart." The statue is the first one of a person with a disability and of a child to be permanently displayed at the U.S. Capitol..Animals have always been regarded in B thought as sentient beings. Furthermore, animals possess B nature (according to the Mahāyāna school) and therefore potential for enlightenment. Moreover, the doctrine of rebirth held that any human could be reborn an animal, and any animal could be reborn as a human. An animal might be a reborn dead relative, and anybody who looked far enough back through their series of lives might come to believe every animal to be a distant relative. The B Expounded that sentient beings currently living in the animal realm have been our mothers, brothers, sisters, fathers, children, friends in past rebirths.. One could not, therefore, make a hard distinction between moral rules applicable to animals and those applicable to humans; ultimately humans and animals were part of a single family..They are all interconnected...

A mirage is a naturally occurring optical phenomenon in which light rays are bent to produce a displaced image of distant objects or the sky. The word comes to English via the French mirage, from the Latin mirari, meaning "to look at, to wonder at". This is the same root as for "mirror" and "to admire"..In contrast to a hallucination, a mirage is a real optical phenomenon that can be captured on camera, since light rays are actually refracted to form the false image at the observer's location. What the image appears to represent, however, is determined by the interpretive faculties of the human mind..Mirages can be categorized as "inferior" (meaning lower), "superior" (meaning higher) and "Fata Morgana", one kind of superior mirage consisting of a series of unusually elaborate, vertically stacked images, which form one rapidly changing mirage..A Fata Morgana is an unusual and complex form of superior mirage that is seen in a narrow band right above the horizon. It is an Italian phrase derived from the Latin Vulgar for "fairy"and the Arthurian sorceress Morgan le Fay, from a belief that these mirages, often seen in the Strait of Messina, were fairy castles in the air or false land created by her witchcraft to lure sailors to their death. Although the term Fata Morgana is sometimes applied to other, more common kinds of mirages, the true Fata Morgana is not the same as an ordinary superior mirage, nor is it the same as an inferior mirage..Fata Morgana mirages distort the object or objects which they are based on significantly, often such that the object is completely unrecognizable. ..A Fata Morgana is most commonly seen in polar regions, especially over large sheets of ice which have a uniform low temperature. It can however be observed in almost any area. In polar regions the Fata Morgana phenomenon is observed on relatively cold days, However in deserts, over oceans, and over lakes, a Fata Morgana can be observed on hot days...

The 4 sons of Horus were a group of 4 gods in Egyptian religion, who were essentially the personifications of the 4 canopic jars, which accompanied mummified bodies..Since the heart was thought to embody the soul, it was left inside the body..The brain was misleadingly thought only to be the origin of mucus, so it was reduced to liquid, removed with heavy metal hooks, and discarded..This left the stomach (and small intestines), liver, large intestines, and lungs, which were removed, embalmed and stored, each organ in its own jar.. There were times when embalmers deviated from this scheme: during the 21st Dynasty they embalmed and wrapped the viscera and returned them to the body, while the Canopic jars remained empty symbols..Since Horus was their father, so Isis, Horus's original wife in the early mythological phase, was usually seen as their mother, though in the details of the funerary ritual each son, and therefore each canopic jar, was protected by a particular goddess. Just as the sons of Horus protected the contents of a canopic jar, the king's organs, so they in turn were protected. As they were male in accordance with the principles of male/female duality their protectors were female..Until the end of the 18th Dynasty the canopic jars had the head of the king, but later they were shown with animal heads.. Inscriptions on coffins and sarcophagi from earliest times showed them usually in animal form..The Jackal (or possibly dog) is linked to Anubis and the act of embalming and also Wepwawet the "opener of the ways" who seeks out the paths of the dead.. The hawk is associated with Horus himself and also Seker the mummified necropolis god. Imseti, the human, may be linked to Osiris himself or Onuris the hunter...

In Spell 151 of the Book of the Dead Hapi is given the following words to say: "I have come to be your protection. I have bound your head and your limbs for you.. I have smitten your enemies beneath you for you, and given you your head, Eternally"..Hapi (xapi) the baboon headed son of Horus protected the lungs of the deceased and was in turn protected by the goddess Nephthys.. The spelling of his name includes a hieroglyph which is thought to be connected with steering a boat, although its exact nature is not known. For this reason he was sometimes connected with navigation, although early references call him the great runner: "You are the great runner; come, that you may join up my father N and not be far in this your name of Hapi, for you are the greatest of my children – so says Horus"..Imsety the human headed son of Horus, protected the liver of the deceased and was in turn protected by the goddess Isis..Spell 148 in the Book of the Dead directly associates all 4 of Horus's sons to the four cardinal points. Imsety was associated with the south..Duamutef, the jackal headed son of Horus, protected the stomach of the deceased and was in turn protected by the goddess Neith..In Spell 151 of the Book of the Dead Duamutef is given the following words to say: "I have come to rescue my father Osiris from his assailant "..Duamutef was also considered one of the four pillars of Shu, a rudder of heaven, and was associated with the east..Qebehsenuef was the falcon-headed son of Horus, and protected the intestines of the deceased. He was in turn protected by the goddess Serket.. It appears that his role was to refresh the dead person, and his name means literally "he who libates his siblings". Horus commands him, "Come refresh my father; betake yourself to him in your name of Qebehsenuef. You have come that you may make coolness for him after you "...Libation or showering with cool water was a traditional form of worship in Ancient Egypt. There are many images of the pharaoh presenting libation to the gods..There is a sense of a dual function of cleansing and refreshing them..After Set murdered Osiris he cut the body into pieces and scattered them around the Delta.. This was anathema to the Egyptians and the service that Qebehsenuef gives to the dead is to reassemble their parts so they can be properly preserved. In Spell 151 of the Book of the Dead he is given the following words to say: "I am your son, Osiris, I have come to be your protection. I have united your bones for you, I have assembled your limbs for you. have brought you your heart, and placed it for you at its place in your body"..Qebehsenuef was the
G associated with the West..

The attributes of the sons of Horus are not limited to their role as the protectors of canopic jars.they appear as the four rudders of heaven in Spell 148 of the Book of the Dead, as 4 of the se7en celestial spirits summoned by Anubis in Spell 17 of the Book of the Dead and through this are linked to the circumpolar stars of the Great Bear (or Plough).. "The tribunal around Osiris is Imset, Hapy, Duamutef, Qebehsenuf, these are at the back of the Plough constellation of the northern sky..Ursa Major (Latin: "Larger Bear"; also known as the Great Bear and Charles' Wain) is a constellation visible throughout the year in most of the northern hemisphere.. It can be seen best in the month of April.. It is dominated by the widely recognized asterism known as the Big Dipper or the Plough, which is a useful pointer towards the north, and it has mythological significance in numerous world cultures..Visible at latitudes between +90° and −30°..Best visible at 21:00 (9 p.m.) during the Month of April..The se7en brightest stars of Ursa Major form the asterism known as the Big Dipper in the USA and Canada, the Plough in the United Kingdom, the Großer Wagen in Germany & Austria and the Saptarshi in India..Ursa Major has been reconstructed as an Indo-European constellation.. It was one of the 48 constellations listed by the 2nd century AD astronomer Ptolemy..The constellation of Ursa Major has been seen as a bear by many distinct civilizations..This may stem from a common oral tradition stretching back more than 13,000 years..One of the few star groups mentioned in the Bible (Job 9:9; 38:32; — Orion and the Pleiades being others), Ursa Major was also pictured as a bear by the Jewish peoples.. ("The Bear" was translated as "Arcturus" in the Vulgate and it persisted in the KJV.)..The Iroquois Native Americans interpreted Alioth, Mizar, and Alkaid as three hunters pursuing the Great Bear. According to 1 version of their myth, the 1st hunter (Alioth) is carrying a bow and arrow to strike down the bear.. The 2nd hunter (Mizar) carries a large pot — the star Alcor — on his shoulder in which to cook the bear while the 3rd hunter (Alkaid) hauls a pile of firewood to light a fire beneath the pot..In South Korea, the constellation is referred to as "the se7en stars of the north"..In Shinto, the 7 largest stars of Ursa Major belong to Amenominakanushi, the oldest and most powerful of all kami..In Theosophy, it is believed the Se7en Stars of the Pleiades focus the spiritual energy of the Se7en RAys from the Galactic Logos to the Seven Stars of the Great Bear, then to Sirius, then to the Sun, then to the god of Earth (Sanat Kumara), and finally through the seven Masters of the Seven Rays to the human race..paṃ ḍā ra vā si nī ...Alaska is a U.S. state situated in the northwest extremity of the North American continent.. It is also known as Alyeska, the "great land", an Aleut word derived from the same root..The name "Baked Alaska" (Аляска) had been introduced in the Russian colonial period, when it was used to refer to the peninsula..Alaska is the largest state in the United States in land area at 586,412 square miles (1,518,800 km2), over twice the size of Texas, the next largest state.. It is also larger than the combined area of the 22 smallest U.S. states..Employment is primarily in government and industries such as natural resource extraction, shipping, and transportation. Military bases are a significant component of the economy in both Fairbanks and I took time out to write to my old friend I walked across that burning bridge Mailed my letter off to Dallas..But her reply came from Anchorage... Many active volcanoes are found in the Aleutians and in coastal regions...Ursa Major is also pictured as the Starry Plough, the Irish Flag of Labour, adopted by James Connolly's Irish Citizen Army in 1916, which shows the constellation on a blue background, and on the state flag of Alaska...

Quote:
The Confederation of Cinque Ports is a historic series of coastal towns in Kent and Sussex. It was originally formed for military and trade purposes, but is now entirely ceremonial. It lies at the eastern end of the English Channel, where the crossing to the continent is narrowest. The name originates in Norman French, meaning "5 ports"...Other towns also contribute to the confederation, including 2 Antient Towns, and se7en Limbs..The 5 ports are supported by the two so-called "Antient Towns" of Rye and Winchelsea whose councils traditionally maintained defence contingents for the realm of England..There are in addition some 23 towns, villages and offices which have varying degrees of connection to the ancient Liberties of the Cinque Ports. The coastal confederation during its mediaeval period consisted of a confederation of 42 towns and villages in all..A Royal Charter of 1155 established the ports to maintain ships ready for the Crown in case of need. The chief obligation laid upon the ports, as a corporate duty, was to provide 57 ships for 15 days' service to the king annually, each port fulfilling a proportion of the whole duty...

Quote:
As time went by and some ports declined or silted up, others were added. Rye and Winchelsea were attached to Hastings as "Antient Towns" in the 12th century, and later became members in their own right. The following "corporate limbs" were added in the 15th century: Lydd, Faversham, Folkestone, Deal, Tenterden, Margate and Ramsgate.. Other places associated with the Cinque Ports and sometimes described as "non corporate limbs" included Bekesbourne, Birchington, Brightlingsea, Fordwich, Pevensey, Reculver, Seaford, Stonor and Walmer.. At one time there were 23 limbs..The continuing decline of the confederation of the Cinque Ports may be ascribed to a variety of different circumstances, but they were not so hampered by the raids from the Danes and the French to be removed by the numerous destructive impact of plagues, and survived the politics of the 13th century Plantagenets, and the subsequent War of the Roses..Much of Hastings was washed away by the sea in the 13th century. During a naval campaign of 1339, and again in 1377, the town was raided and burnt by the French, and went into a decline during which it ceased to be a major port. It had no natural sheltered harbour. Attempts were made to Build a stone harbour during the reign of Elizabeth I,
But the foundations were destroyed by the sea in storms..

There are many mythological anecdotes of Ganesha.. Ganesha's elephant head makes him easy to identify.. He is worshipped as the lord of beginnings and as the lord of obstacles, the patron of arts and sciences, and the god of intellect and wisdom...Another story regarding the origins of Ganesha and his elephant head narrates that, once, there existed an Asura (demon) with all the characteristics of an elephant, called Gajasura, who was undergoing a penitence (or tapas). Shiva, satisfied by this austerity, decided to grant him, as a reward, whatever gift he desired. The demon wished that he could emanate fire continually from his own body so that no one could ever dare to approach him. The Lord granted him his request. Gajasura continued his penitence and Shiva, who appeared in front of him from time to time, asked him once again what he desired. The demon responded: "I desire that You inhabit my stomach"...

While returning home his stomach burst open, due to the weight of the food consumed. Luckily it was night. Hoping no one had seen him; he quickly tied his stomach with a snake.. Unfortunately the moon saw him and burst into peals of laughter..Ganesha was furious and uttered a curse that the moon would be invisible from then on. The moon was ashamed of his action and begged forgiveness. Ganesha also felt he had been hasty in cursing the moon. The London Borough of Lambeth is a London borough in south London, England and forms part of Inner London.. The local council is Lambeth London Borough Council...The name is recorded in 1062 as Lambehitha, meaning 'landing place for lambs', and in 1255 as Lambeth. Lambeth Marsh was drained in the 18th century but is remembered in the Lower Marsh street name..In 1979 the administration of Edward "Red Ted" Knight organised the borough's first public demonstration against the Thatcher government.. In 1985, the left-wing Labour administration of Ted Knight was subjected to 'rate-capping' with its budget restricted by the Government. Knight and most of the Labour councillors protested by refusing to set any budget. This protest resulted in 32 councillors being ordered to repay to the council the interest the council had lost as a result of budgeting delays, and also being disqualified from office..Lambeth is a long, thin borough (approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) wide and 7 miles (11 km) long). Brixton is the civic centre of the borough and there are other town centres. The largest shopping areas are (in order of size) Streatham, Brixton, Vauxhall, Clapham and West Norwood..Despite the Borough's high population density, it contains some open spaces of Metropolitan importance including Brockwell Park and Brockwell Lido, Streatham Common, half of Clapham Common, and West Norwood Cemetery..Along and around the South Bank a tourist area has developed around the former GLC headquarters of County Hall and the Royal Festival Hall and National Theatre.. Also on the river is the London Eye and Hayward Gallery, to the east of which is the Oxo Tower wharf and adjacent areas redeveloped by the Coin Street Community Builders. Nearby and also in the north of the borough is St Thomas' Hospital,Plastic BaG Lambeth Palace and the Florence Nightingale Museum..

The 2nd to se7enth floors contain 78 flats.. the 2nd floor is also hired out for events and weddings..The building was originally constructed as a power station for the Post Office, built towards the end of the 19th century.. It was subsequently acquired by the Liebig Extract of Meat Company, manufacturers of Oxo beef stock cubes, for conversion into a cold store..The building is flanked on the upstream, western side by Bernie Spain Gardens and Gabriel's Wharf, and to the east by Sea Containers House..The building was largely rebuilt to an Art Deco design by company architect Albert Moore between 1928 and 1929. Much of the original power station was demolished, but the river facing facade was retained and extended. Liebig wanted to include a tower featuring illuminated signs advertising the name of their product. When permission for the advertisements was refused, the tower was built with four sets of 3 vertically-aligned windows, each of which "coincidentally" happened to be in the shapes of a circle, a cross and a circle. Liebig and the building were eventually purchased by the Vestey Group...

The topography of the area that would become Five Points was a major factor in the progression of the neighborhood from middle-class homes built upon reclaimed land to a sprawling, disease-ridden slum in a relatively short period of time..The Collect Pond (or Fresh Water Pond) was a body of spring-fed fresh water, occupying approximately 48 acres (194,000 m²) and as deep as 60 feet (18 metres).. The pond was located in an inverted U-shaped valley with a linear portion in the north heading northwest to the Hudson River. The eastern and western sections of the valley were separated by a hill the Dutch called Kalk Hoek, (Dutch meaning Chalk Corner), named for the numerous oyster-shell middens left by Native Americans. The elevation rose in the south, with Pot Bakers Hill dominating the south southwestern shore..The landfill was poorly engineered. The buried vegetation began to release methane gas (a byproduct of decomposition) and the area, still in a natural depression, lacked adequate storm sewers. As a result, the ground gradually subsided.. Houses shifted on their foundations, the unpaved streets were often buried in a foot of mud mixed with human and animal excrement and mosquitos bred in the stagnant pools created by the poor drainage. Most middle and upper class inhabitants fled the area, leaving the neighborhood open to poor immigrants that began arriving in the early 1820s.. This influx reached a height in the 1840s, with large numbers of Irish Catholics fleeing the Irish Potato Famine...

"Every day's experience gives us increased assurance of the safety of the temperate and prudent, who are in circumstances of comfort.... The disease is now, more than before rioting in the haunts of infamy and pollution. A prostitute at 62 Mott Street, who was decking herself before the glass at 1 o'clock yesterday, was carried away in a hearse at half past three o'clock. The broken down constitutions of these miserable creatures, perish almost instantly on the attack.... But the business part of our population, in general, appear to be in perfect health and security-New-York Mercury, 18 July 1832"...

Five Points (or The 5 Points) was a neighborhood in the central lower area of the Manhattan borough of New York City, New York.. The neighborhood was generally defined as being bound by Centre Street in the west, the Bowery in the east, Canal Street in the north and Park Row in the south. The former neighborhood known as
Five Points is now split between the Civic Center on the west and south and Chinatown on the east and north...

Quote:
At Five Points' "height," only certain areas of London's East End vied with it in the western world for sheer population density, disease, infant and child mortality, unemployment, prostitution, violent crime, and other classic ills of the urban destitute. However, it could be considered the original American melting pot, at first consisting primarily of newly emancipated African Americans (gradual emancipation led to the end of slavery in New York on July 4, 1827) and Irish, who had a small minority presence in the area since the 1600s.. The local politics of "the Old Sixth ward" (The Points' primary municipal voting district), while not free of corruption, set important precedents for the election of Catholics to key offices. Prior to that time, New York, and America at large, was governed by the Anglo-Protestant founders. Although the tensions between the African Americans and the Irish were legendary, their cohabitation in Five Points was the first large-scale instance of volitional racial integration in American history..In the end, the Five Points African American community moved to Manhattan's West Side and to the then-undeveloped north of the island...

"What place is this, to which the squalid street conducts us? A kind of square of leprous houses, some of which are attainable only by crazy wooden stairs without. What lies behind this tottering flight of steps? Let us go on again, and plunge into the Five Points....This is the place; these narrow ways diverging to the right and left, and reeking everywhere with dirt and filth. Such lives as are led here, bear the same fruit as elsewhere. The coarse and bloated faces at the doors have counterparts at home and all the world over...Debauchery has made the very houses prematurely old.. See how the rotten beams are tumbling down, and how the patched and broken windows seem to scowl dimly, like eyes that have been hurt in drunken forays. Many of these pigs live here..
Do they ever wonder why their masters walk upright instead of going on all fours, and why they talk instead of grunting?"..

Lightbulb Temple of Venus

Quote:
Hadrian ( Latin: Publius Aelius Hadrianus Augustus; 24 January, 76 AD – 10 July, 138 AD) was Roman Emperor from 117 to 138. In Latin, the full imperial title of Hadrian was also rendered as Tito Ael[io] Hadriano, just as it appears in ancient epigraphic records.. He re-built the Pantheon and constructed the Temple of Venus and Roma. He is also known for building Hadrian's Wall, which marked the northern limit of Roman Britain. Hadrian was regarded by some as a humanist and was philhellene in most of his tastes. He is regarded as one of the 5 Good Emperors....

Quote:
Hadrian's Wall was 75 Roman miles or 117.5 km (73.0 mi) long; its width and height were dependent on the construction materials that were available nearby. East of the River Irthing, the wall was made from squared stone and measured 3 metres (9.8 feet) wide and 5 to 6 metres (16 to 20 feet) high, while west of the river the wall was made from turf and measured 6 metres (20 feet) wide and 3.5 metres (11 feet) high. This does not include the wall's ditches, berms and forts. The central section measured 8 Roman feet wide (7.8 ft or 2.4 m) on a 3 m (10 ft) base. Some parts of this section of the wall survive to a height of 3 m (10 ft)...

You can build your filthy world without me.. I took the father. Now I'll take the son.. You tell young Vallon I'm gonna paint Paradise Square with his blood..2 coats.. I'll festoon my bedchamber with his guts.. As for you, Mr. Tammany-foooking-Q, you come down to the Points again, and you'll be dispatched by my own hand.. Lightbulb Light Post

As the official story has it, the "plane" flight 77 hit several lamp posts as it was bearing down on its target..The thin aluminum wings hit these lamp posts, knocked them down, and the "plane" continued on its attack with not interruption..the problem is, it isn't that easy..First, I have spoken to a few pilots that say that this is absurd..A plane going 500mph a few feet off the ground would make it almost impossible to fly, even for an experienced pilot, the ground effect alone, would create a huge problem..The topography of the area creates another problem, there are raises and dips in the ground level. For the plane to "hug" the ground would create another huge problem..A 45ft tall lamp pole got hit by a 757 going 500+ mph which uprooted this lamp pole from its base, the pole FELL on the cab which was also moving at the time, but hit only the windshield ?How could this violent collision only hit the windshield and not scratch the car (which was also moving at the time)?.I try to picture this scenario occurring, but cannot fathom this to be the result..That said, this magic plane, (piloted by someone who had trouble flying a Cessna),kept control of the "aircraft" after hitting 5 light posts...So lets take a better look at these light posts..5A Rua Dr Agostinho da Silva...

Lightbulb Numbers

Quote:
A prime number (or a prime) is a natural number greater than 1 that has no positive divisors other than 1 and itself. A natural number greater than 1 that is not a prime number is called a composite number. For example, 5 is prime because 1 and 5 are its only positive integer factors, whereas 6 is composite because it has the divisors 2 and 3 in addition to 1 and 6.. The fundamental theorem of arithmetic establishes the central role of primes in number theory: any integer greater than 1 can be expressed as a product of primes that is unique up to ordering. The uniqueness in this theorem requires excluding 1 as a prime because one can include arbitrarily many instances of 1 in any factorization, e.g., 3, 1 × 3, 1 × 1 × 3, etc. are all valid factorizations of 3..In number theory, the fundamental theorem of arithmetic, also called the unique factorization theorem or the unique-prime-factorization theorem, states that every integer greater than 1 either is prime itself or is the product of prime numbers, and that, although the order of the primes in the second case is arbitrary, the primes themselves are not.. For example,

1200 = 24 × 31 × 52 = 3 × 2× 2× 2× 2 × 5 × 5 = 5 × 2× 3× 2× 5 × 2 × 2 = etc..

The most primitive method of representing a natural number is to put down a dot for each object.. Later, a set of objects could be tested for equality, excess or shortage, by striking out a dot for each object in the set..The first major advance in abstraction was the use of numerals to represent numbers. This allowed systems to be developed for recording large numbers. The ancient Egyptians developed a powerful system of numerals with distinct hieroglyphs for 1, 10, and all the powers of 10 up to over 1 million. A stone carving from Karnak, dating from around 1500 BC and now at the Louvre in Paris, depicts 276 as 2 hundreds, 7 tens, and 6 ones; and similarly for the number 4,622. The Babylonians had a place-value system based essentially on the numerals for 1 and 10...
