Historical abuse inquiry could get underway

A PUBLIC inquiry into historical abuse could begin early next year after two members were nominated to serve on the committee.

The former director of social work and retired chairman of the Parole Board for Scotland, Alexander Cameron, who is known as Sandy, and child protection expert Alyson Leslie, of the University of Dundee, have been chosen after a series of interviews in the UK.

If their appointments are approved by the States, they and the recently nominated chairman of the inquiry, Frances Oldham QC, expect to start work in the new year.

Full report in Friday’s JEP.

BLUE MOVIE MAKER AMONG 13 CHARGED

Quote:
VICTORIA (CP) - A well-known American maker of blue movies was among 13 people, including six women, charged with immigration offences in court here Tuesday after a weekend raid on two vessels off the northwest coast of Vancouver Island.

Two other Americans and five Canadians were to appear today in North Vancouver court in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, RCMP and Canadian Forces personnel, who took part in the sea raid, were searching a converted minesweeper and the rugged coast around Quatsino Sound for an estimated half ton of hashish valued at $1 million which they said they suspected were being transported.

The two ships, the converted U.S. minesweeper Marysville and the Canadian fishboat Gondola, were boarded by RCMP and Canadian Forces men at Quatsino Sound Saturday and the Marysville was escorted to Esquimalt, mear here.

Alexander Derenzy, 38, of San Rafael, Calif., was listed as owner of the Marysville. He was charged along with 12 others from the Marysville with unlawfully conspiring to land two aliens in Canada without reporting to immigration authorities and with conspiring to land the men by stealth. All were remanded without plea to Friday.

Drenzy was the maker of two well-known movies: Pornography in Denmark, also titled Censorship in Denmark, and a History of the Blue Movie, both mentioned in the U.S. commission on obscenity and pornography report issued in 1970.

Queen will take part in RCMP's ceremonies

Quote:
REGINA (CP) - Red carpets and coats roll out for the Queen today as the honorary commissioner of the RCMP celebrates 100 years of peacekeeping with the 12,000-member federal force.

The birthday party began Tuesday on the Monarch's arrival from an action-packed afternoon visit to Thunder Bay, Ont., en route from another centennial in Prince Edward Island.

A blazing-scarlet guard of honor met the Queen and Prince Philip at the airport prior to a private dinner for 150 at the Hotel Saskatchewan where the Royal couple will stay during this two-day leg of their week-and-a-half tour of four provinces.

Today, the Queen pays tribute to the force at its prairie training ground here, opening a museum, touring its chapel and receiving offices prior to another evening dinner for people of the province.

Tuesday, the day began with a relaxed P.E.I. agriculture research station where the Royal couple mingled happily with cattle, pigs, and workers on the last of a four-day stay in Charlottetown.

The tempo picked up considerably in Thunder Bay, where the two were nearly swept off their feet by a gregarious mayor, Indians and fur traders during a two-hour stay.

Mayor Walter Assef, a short, bald man who entered local politics after a stint as a Vaudeville comedian, welcomed the couple in strong winds at the airport - the Queen's dress blew up in her face as she deplaned - and later, at city hall, thanked Prince Philip for stopping by.

"We're so pleased you and your gracious wife could be here today," said the mayor as he presented the Queen with a medallion and the prince with an oil painting of a loon.

The Royal couple seemed a bit taken aback by the mayor's manner for a time, but soon broke into gales of laughter at his antics on the square outside city hall.

After watching 42 young Ukrainian dancers perform before a crowd of about 5,000, the two, accompanied by Ontario Premier William Davis, sped off to partially-reconstructed Fort William on the banks of the Kaministiquia River for a glimpse of a fur-trading pageant.

Men decked out in 18th-century voyageur outfits leaped from the bush inside the fort and ran to the river to sing welcome to canoeists symbolically hauling furs from the West to be taken to the East.

The event, billed as the Rendexvous Pageant, obviously pleased the Queen and prince, who left a platform to mingle with the voyageurs after they had carted their canoes up from the river.

The fort itself was built by the North West Company in the early 1800s as a meeting place for voyageurs from Montreal and their counterparts from the Northwest to exchange trade goods for furs.

After officially opening the fort, the Royal couple toured the reconstructed house of the company's factor, then made a futile attempt to look inside a barn-like building used to store canoes.

"Humph," said Philip as he and the Queen walked, unscheduled, around the building. "It's locked."

The Queen merely murmured "Lovely" as she turned her attention away from the barn to other buildings and a crowd of about 1,000.

As the two left, a teen-age boy darted up to the Royal car and thrust in a brochure describing the fort, then scurried away from the crowd with a plain-clothes security man in pursuit.

RCMP quit search for hidden hashish

Quote:
VICTORIA (CP) - RCMP abandoned their search of a converted American minesweeper Wednesday but haven't given up hope of finding $1 million worth of hashish which they believed was aboard the minesweeper.

Police now plan to concentrate their search for the half-ton of hashish - about the size of three bales of hay - on the shoreline of Quatsino Sound, where the rusty, weather-beaten minesweeper Marysville was seized last Saturday.

Police conducted a four-day, stem-to-stern hunt of the Marysville.

"We feel its been a complete search," said RCMP Superintendent Jim Nelson.

Police and Canadian Forces personnel swooped down on the sound by sea, acting on a tip that the 1947-vintage former U.S. Navy vessel was crammed with hashish worth more than $1 million on the illicit drug market.

The Marysville and the Canadian fishboat Gondola, which was also in the sound, were searched repeatedly, 20 persons were arrested, but no drugs have been found so far.

"We haven't lost any of our enthusiasm - it's noholdsbarred as far as we're concerned," said Superintendent Nelson. He added that his men were also considering the possibility that the drugs were cached ashore prior to the arrival of the RCMP and armed forces Saturday.

The owner of the Marysville is Alexander Derenzy, 38, a blue movie-maker from San Rafael, Calif. He was charged, along with 12 others aboard the Marysville, with unlawfully conspiring to land two aliens in Canada and with conspiring to land the men by stealth.

Derenzy is the maker of two of the more popular blue movies - Pornography in Denmark and a History of The Blue Movie. He and the dozen others aboard the Marysville are scheduled to appear in court Friday.

Meanwhile, the seven men aboard the Gondola appeared in provincial court Wednesday in North Vancouver, B.C., charged with conspiring to import narcotics into Canada. No pleas were entered and all seven were remanded until Tuesday. Bail was set at $2,500 each for John Thompson, 21, of Vancouver, Brian Lewis, 21, of Nanaimo, B.C., Ralph Carpenter, 26, of North Vancouver, Andrew Dymyn of Vancouver, and Americans Gary Lee Jackson, 21, and Dennis Wilcher, 24.

Bail for Kenneth Carpenter of North Vancouver was set at $10,000

1,000 pound hash cache discovered

Quote:
VICTORIA - An intensive five-day hunt along a northwest Vancouver Island inlet ended successfully with the discovery of a big drug cache, RCMP Supt. J.M. Nelson, announced Thursday night.

He estimated the cache weighed about 1,000 pounds and included 700 to 800 pounds of hashish and about 200 pounds of marijuana. Estimated street value of the drugs was $1 million.

The discovery was made Wednesday by an unidentified serviceman who was part of a search and rescue team at the Canadian forces base at Holberg which had joined the hunt along both sides of Quatsino Sound by scores of RCMP officers and forces members.

The cache, in large plastic bags, was found about 35 feet inland under a big log on the south side of Quatsino Sound almost directly south of Winter Harbor.

The find came as the search, which began Saturday morning after two vessels were stopped in the Sound, was nearly at an end.

Sources indicated the searchers had covered the north side of Quatsino Sound first, moving east, then crossed to the south side and began working west.

Supt. Nelson and other RCMP officials said earlier the operation had been in progress for several months, apparently on the basis of information from the United States. It involved the RCMP, Canadian forces and the U.S. Bureau of Narcotics.

They said Canadian forces tracking aircraft reported the former U.S. minesweeper Marysville, owned by San Francisco blue-movie maker Alexander Edward DeRenzy, 38, and the Canadian fishboat Gondola were in the same area from about 9:30 p.m. to midnight Friday night two miles off Winter Harbor, at the entrance to the Sound.

The Gondola was stopped at 3:15 a.m. Saturday by RCMP in a rented fishboat midway between Winter Harbor and Coal Harbor, at the other end of Quatsino Sound. The destroyer escort Mackenzie stopped the Marysville at 6 a.m. Saturday further down the Island coast.

The seven men aboard the Gondola appeared in provincial court Wednesday in North Vancouver, charged with conspiring to import narcotics into Canada. They were remanded without plea to Tuesday.

The Gondola and Marysville had been searched without success.

The ship yielded many exotic birds and animals, pets of those aboard.

Alex de Renzy

Alexander de Renzy (August 13, 1935 – June 8, 2001) was an American director and producer of pornographic movies.

Quote:
Born in New York, de Renzy served in the United States Air Force, as a Survival Instructor. Back in the United States, he began making documentary films in San Francisco. In October 1969 he went to Denmark to attend Sex 69, the first porn trade show hosted in Copenhagen after the legalization of adult pornography there. This resulted in his first movie, Pornography in Denmark, which was released the following year.

Alex de Renzy not only filmed hot sex scenes but he also endeavored to tell a story. He was the editor on Sexual Encounter Group (1970), was cinematographer on seven movies and wrote five screenplays. His production Lady Freaks (1973) introduced porn star legend Annette Haven. His films also include the two 1970s porn classics Babyface (1977) and Pretty Peaches (1978).

Another de Renzy discovery was Desireé Cousteau. She won the Adult Film Association of America award in 1978 for 'Best Actress' for her starring role in Pretty Peaches and became an international sex star. The plot of Pretty Peaches derives from Voltaire's literary classic Candide about a naive young woman undergoing a series of hardships which constitute the satire. But de Renzy's film is more high camp than high art. Peaches contains a notorious enema scene (and for a time censored from the VHS release, restored in Alpha Blue's DVD release) in which the powerful jet-spray from Cousteau's hindquarters knocks the administering physician to the bathroom floor, to which Peaches bemoans "I don't think he could cure anything!"

A third actress de Renzy introduced to adult films was Juliet Anderson, better known as "Aunt Peg".

He won the Adult Film Association of America award in 1977 for Best Director for "Babyface", and was inducted into the AVN Hall of Fame and the XRCO Hall of Fame.

After filming his final story-driven works, "Slave to Love" and "Two Women", de Renzy reinvented himself as Rex Borsky in 1991. He churned out adult-video quickies, shooting over 200 hardcore videos, with a special emphasis on anal action. With titles like "Anal Siege", "Anal Madness" and "Anal Sluts and Sweethearts", it was clear what Borsky's intentions were.

Alex de Renzy suffered a fatal stroke and diabetic attack while in his hotel room in Los Angeles during the production of his last video.

Nudie Busts Stopped By S.F. Judge

Quote:
SAN FRANCISCO (UPI) - A federal judge issued a temporary restraining order Friday which prevents San Francisco police from arresting patrons attending erotic movies.

Police arrested a total of 19 persons in raids this month at two sex film theaters.

U.S. District Judge Alfson Zirpoli issued the order requested by the American Civil Liberties Union and set next Friday for a hearing.

Meanwhile, suits were filed in federal court by operators of two movie houses which have been raided by police.

Demich Inc. which owns the O'Farrell Theatre, charged state laws dealing with obscenity, indecent exposure and keeping a disorderly house were unconstitutional.

The patrons were arrested for "visiting a disorderly house."

Another suit was filed by Alex de Renzy who operates The Screening Room. He asked for $250,000 damages and also claimed the obscenity statute was unconstitutional.

Thirteen facing charges

Quote:
VICTORIA (CP) - Thirteen men and women arrested during the weekend after a converted United States minesweeper was seized in a search for $1 million in hashish were charged with two offences under the Immigration Act when they appeared in provincial court here Tuesday morning.

They were charged with unlawfully conspiring to land in Canada two aliens without reporting to immigration authorities and unlawfully conspiring to land them in Canada by stealth.

All U.S. citizens, most of the 13 listed their profession as seamen and had no fixed addresses. They were all remanded without plea until Friday.

The two aliens named in the charges were Americans Gary Lee Jackson and Denny Wilcher, who were also charged Saturday with conspiring to import narcotics, along with five Canadians.

No drug charges were laid against the 13 who appeared in court here.

The six women found aboard the vessel Marysville, seized Saturday off Quatsino Sound in a combined Canadian Navy-RCMP operation, were listed as Joellen Ball, Sandra May, Shelly Stevens, Diane and Carol Maniscalco and Regina Saisi.

Their hometowns were not known immediately.

George McDonald, Glen Davis, Richard O'Brien, 48, of San Francisco, Richard Burgess, 29, of Chicago, George Sonoda, Frank Komarmy, 30, of San Francisco, and the boat's owner, Alex Derenzy, 38, of San Rafael Calif. Derenzy listed his profession as photographer.

Prosecutor Mike Hutcheson said it's expected that seven other persons - two Americans and five Canadians - who were charged Saturday at Port Hardy, near the north end of Vancouver Island, with conspiracy to import narcotics, would also appear in court here Friday.

They were aboard a fishboat that rendezvoused with the Marysville in lonely Quatsino Sound during a storm Saturday, some 260 miles northwest of here near the northern tip of Vancouver Island.

The bizarre high seas drama began early Saturday morning when the Canadian destroyer-escort Mackenzie intercepted the Marysville at Quatsino Sound.

With winds blowing about 30 miles an hour, a boarding party of 14 armed men, including two RCMP officers, was put aboard. It met no resistance
, and the Marysville was escorted to calmer waters near the village Nootka, where a preliminary search of the vessel was made.

At a joint news conference Sunday night, RCMP Sgt. David Staples said they believed a substantial amount of hashish - more than half a ton - was aboard. No trace of drugs has yet been found. RCMP aided by dogs were still at work Tuesday, and a special navy crew familiar with the ducts and pipes of the ship was to be brought in.

"We suspected that a substantial amount of hashish was aboard the vessel," Sgt. Staples told the news conference Sunday night. "We had reason to believe that a very substantial shipment of has was aboard, at least 1,000 pounds and perhaps somewhat in excess of that worth, possibly in excess of $1 million.

RCMP believed the hashish was purchased somewhere in the Middle East and transported to the Truck islands in the South Pacific. He said the Marysville had recently been there.

Score Face Charges

Quote:
VANCOUVER, B.C. - Police have charged 20 persons, including American pornographic movie maker Alex DeRenzy, in connection with $1 million worth of hashish and marijuana that was found on a remote beach on Vancouver Island. The cache of 80 pounds of hashish and 200 pounds of marijuana was found under a log late Wednesday by a Royal Canadian Mounted Police corporal. Police and Canadians soldiers conducted the search after two ships were seized last Saturday when they met on the high seas off the island. One of the ships was the Marysville, a converted U.S. Navy patrol boat owned by DeRenzy, 37, of San Rafael, Calif., a pioneer in the pornographic movie industry. He used a documentary technique in such films as "Pornography in Denmark" and "A History of the Blue Movie."

Jimmy Savile abuse probe: Former DJ had family links to a Cardiff hospital

It is understood that during an eight-year-period when Jimmy Savile's brother ran a community station based at Cardiff Royal Infirmary, the celebrity visited on numerous occasions

Vince Savile the brother of Jimmy Savile at a local hospital in the 70s.

Quote:
Jimmy Savile had family links to a Cardiff hospital involved with investigations of historical abuse, it has been revealed.

Vince Savile, the former celebrity’s brother, founded Radio Glamorgan, a community station based at Cardiff Royal Infirmary in 1967.

The radio station later relocated to the basement of the University Hospital of Wales in 1974.

Vince Savile died of cancer, but WalesOnline understands that during that eight-year-period Jimmy Savile visited the Royal Infirmary on numerous occasions.

Savile’s brother Vince, whose family live in Pontypridd, also worked as a Royal Navy recruiting officer in Cardiff.

Labour AM for Cardiff Central Jenny Rathbone said: “It is perfectly credible that Jimmy Savile would have been asked to do a star-turn at Cardiff Royal Infirmary on a number of occasions because his brother was a founder member of Radio Glamorgan.

“It is tragic that someone may have suffered at the hands of Jimmy Savile in Cardiff Royal Infirmary, now added to list of hospitals where Jimmy Savile may have abused patients.

“But of course this is a small part of a huge investigation which must bring to justice people who allowed Savile access to the most vulnerable people in society.”

On Thursday, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board revealed that an adult had reported an incident of abuse from the early 1960s and it was working with police on the matter.

The hospital is one of 13 under investigation in the UK following revelations about decades of abuse carried out by the former Radio 1 DJ.

Final reports on the investigations are due in June 2014.

The disclosure that Cardiff Royal Infirmary was involved in the inquiry was made in a written Parliamentary answer by health minister Norman Lamb.

In a statement on Thursday night, the health board said: “Cardiff and Vale University Health Board can confirm that it has investigated one allegation from an adult relating to an alleged incident at Cardiff Royal Infirmary in the early 1960s.

“The health board is working closely with South Wales Police and the Department of Health on the matter and is not in a position to comment further at this time.”

Savile, who died in 2011 aged 84, is believed to have abused hundreds of victims during his career.

This is Vince Savile???? He doesn't look anything like the man who was next to Savile when Savile was wearing the Navy outfit. That looked far more like Johnny Savile. Anyone able to put up the pictures?

So all three male Savile's worked in hospitals??? Hmmmm, wonder if Johnny escaped prosecution due to pressure from brother Jimmy too?

Johnny was sacked for gross misconduct from the Springfield Psychiatric Hospital, Tooting.

A spokesman for the hospital, which is now called the South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust, said: 'We are aware of this case and if we are contacted by the police we will cooperate fully.

'We believe there was a criminal case in 1979 over rape allegations. The victim is believed to have been an ex-patient at the hospital.'

It is not known whether Johnny, who died in 1998, was prosecuted following the criminal case.

Words to patriotic hymn I Vow To Thee My Country are ‘almost obscene’ and not fit...

Hymn speak of the 'final sacrifice' made by those who love their country

... written in the final year of the First World War, speak of the ‘final sacrifice’ made by those that love their country, and end with a promise of peace in heaven.

Many would question whether we can sing of a love that “asks no question”, that “lays on the altar the dearest and the best” and that juxtaposes the service of country and that “other country” of faith.

Should we, undaunted, make the sacrifice of our sons and daughters, laying their lives on the altar in wars that we might struggle to call holy or just?”

‘The notion of vowing everything to a country, including the sacrifice of one’s life for the glorification of nationhood, challenges sensibilities today.’

(In response...)

Former defence minister Sir Gerald Howarth said that churchmen who dislike the hymn are out of touch with their congregations

Sir Gerald, Tory MP for Aldershot, said: ‘Any Church of England vicar should know that the Supreme Governor of the Church of England is the Queen. I am not sure a Church of England cleric should be taking this view of Her Majesty.

‘He is completely out of touch with the spirit of the times. There are more poppies being worn this year than ever and the armed forces have never been held in higher regard.

‘A vicar of all people should not be so insensitive at a time of remembrance....

Paedophilia special (2001)

The series was repeated in 2001 along with a new show. It tackled paedophilia and the moral panic in parts of the British media following the murder of Sarah Payne, focusing on the name-and-shame campaign conducted by the News of the World in its wake.

To illustrate the media's knee-jerk reaction to the subject, various celebrities were duped into presenting fatuous and often ridiculous pieces to camera in the name of a campaign against paedophiles. Gary Lineker and Phil Collins endorsed a spoof charity, Nonce Sense, (pronounced "nonsense"—"nonce" being British slang for people convicted or suspected of molestation or sexual crimes), Collins saying, "I'm talking Nonce Sense!" Tomorrow's World presenter Philippa Forrester and ITN reporter Nicholas Owen were shown explaining the details of HOECS (pronounced "hoax") computer games, which on-line paedophiles were using to abuse children via the internet. Capital Radio DJ Neil "Doctor" Fox told viewers that "paedophiles have more genes in common with crabs than they do with you and me", adding "Now that is scientific fact—there's no real evidence for it—but it is scientific fact".

Lineker described paedophile text slang, claiming "BALTIMORA" translates to "literally, I'm running at them now with my trousers down" while Labour MP Syd Rapson related that paedophiles were using "an area of internet the size of Ireland". Richard Blackwood stated that internet paedophiles could make computer keyboards emit noxious fumes to subdue children, subsequently sniffing a keyboard and claiming that he could smell the fumes, which made him feel "suggestible". Blackwood also warned watching parents that exposure to the fumes would make their children "smell like hammers". Other notable figures appearing as themselves were Sebastian Coe, Michael Hames, Andy McNab, Kate Thornton, Barbara Follett MP and Gerald Howarth MP.

The studio was "invaded" by a fictional militant pro-paedophile activism organisation called Milit-pede and the programme appeared to suffer a short technical disturbance. When it returned, presenter Chris Morris confronted a spokesman, Gerard Chote (played by Simon Pegg) who had been placed in a pillory, asking if he wanted sex with Morris's six-year-old son. Hesitantly, the spokesman refused, apologetically explaining "I don't fancy him".

Howarth's good friends, the Hamiltons ,were featured in the following:

Jimmy Savile, Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee, The Hamiltons, Chris Eubank and Keith Harris talk about being interviewed by Louis Theroux. Louis also provides insight into how he felt those five shows went and what those people were like to spend time with. The show is interspersed with clips from the shows.

His episode about the DJ, charity fund-raiser Sir Jimmy Savile (When Louis Met...Jimmy) was voted one of the top fifty documentaries of all time in a survey by Britain's Channel Four. In another episode ("When Louis Met...The Hamiltons"), the disgraced Tory MP Neil Hamilton and his wife Christine were arrested following allegations of indecent assault during the course of filming.

^ Who can forget Phil Collins' odd wink in his video to Frank Bruno on his This Is Your Life. The one where Michael 'I never met Jimmy Savile' Aspel watched nonplussed as Savile dropped his tracksuit bottoms on national TV, and there were jokes about his 'chicken legs' and Black and Deckers...

Default 1998 letter

Apologies if this has been posted in full before.

Quote:
I supply here information which if looked into by one of your officers will yield a secret life not unlike that of [name].

I can not (sic) give you my name as I am too closely involved and do not wish to be in the limelight and have the finger pointed at myself. If you think this is not a genuine letter, then it is your loss.

The image that Jimmy Savile has tried to portray over the years is someone who is deeply concerned with his fellow man; however, the thrust of this is entirely the opposite. His fundraising activities are not out of altruistic motives, but purely for selfish advancement and an easy living. He has slimed his way in wherever possible.

He has tried to hide his homosexuality, which in any event is an open secret with those who know; but did you know that he is also a deeply committed paedophile, and involved in buggery with young children. An incident that happened some years ago (not that long) was when he was involved with a young ‘rent boy’.

This rent boy followed him to [place]. Jimmy Savile foolishly gave this rent boy his Leeds telephone number [set out in the text] which he has now subsequently changed; this was because he was having threatening calls from this rent boy, who was going to go to the press and expose him for his paedophilia, if he did not give him more money.

I know at the time he was extremely angry and frightened. How it ended, I really do not know.

What can not (sic) be acceptable and must be stopped is Jimmy Savile’s paedophilia. I know he has pornography, but do not know which of his houses it is in. Regularly, he runs for the ‘Life’ charity in Roundhay Park in Leeds, he would say ‘Now I’ve had a run, I feel like some bum’. And would then later in the evening go where the rent boys hang out.

He thinks he is untouchable because of the people he mixes with, and again I know from personal experience, that they find him amusing and the butt of many jokes. There are many more things I could tell you, but they are trivial in comparison to the main issue.

sickened. (sic) Please, do not let him get away with this perversion and that he feels immune because of the people he mixes with. There are too many of his perverted type around – don’t let him continue to think he is untouchable, or that his secret is too well hidden. [Name] made a mistake, don’t let Jimmy Savile get away with it either.

When Jimmy Savile fails, and sooner or later he will, a lot of well-known personalities and past politicians are going to fall with him.

I have done my duty, my conscience is clear, you have the power, time, and resources at Scotland Yard to wheedle him out, and expose him for what he really is. If you think this is a hoax, or a crank letter, think again. It is not I who suffer if you do nothing, but the children.
As somebody pointed out - forgive me, I forget who - this was written the year before Janet Cope was sacked. Did she write the letter? I've never believed she didn't know...

As a result of his work with the 41-year-old radio station, which was co-founded by Jimmy Savile’s brother Vince at the Cardiff Royal Infirmary, Mr Field this year won one of the annual BT Chairman’s Awards.

He was presented with a £1,000 cheque for Radio Glamorgan at the BT Tower in London by the company’s new chairman, Sir Michael Rake.

Jimmy Savile's brother was a Liberal parliamentary candidate
There is a photograph on the Getty Images site with the caption:
23rd February 1974: Actress Honor Blackman lends support to the Liberal Party as she joins Johnnie Savile, brother of broadcaster Jimmy and candidate for Battersea North, London, on a canvassing tour of the constituency.
Sure enough, the Wikipedia page for the Battersea North constituency reveals that a J. Savile stood there for the Liberal Party in the February 1974 general election. He finished third, polling 4683 votes.

And a recent Daily Mail report suggests that Johnnie was no more pleasant than his brother.

Remember that Jimmy Savile was linked to a paedophile brothel on Battersea Bridge Road in 1964 :-

"An earlier piece of intelligence received by Scotland Yard in 1964 was not placed on computer systems.

It said that Savile visited a paedophile brothel on Battersea Bridge Road where absconders from Duncroft were abused.

If it had been acted on at the time, Savile’s reign of abuse, which ended in 2009, could have been cut short by 45 years – saving hundreds of victims.

The 1964 note was among five allegations and two pieces of intelligence recorded against Savile during his lifetime, the probe found."

I also found this rather creepy description of a 1960 TV show filmed on location at Battersea Park Fun Fair, starring alleged satanist and MK-Ultra handler Sammy Davis Jr :-

"Sammy Davis Jr Meets the British (Saturday June 11th 1960, 8-9pm, ABC) 'GT' wrote, "Brian Tesler, whose first production this was for his new bosses, came through with a modest, correctly balanced show which supplied to the right degree the personality of the star. In the first and third parts Davis appeared alone doing snatches of his cabaret act and a joy it was to watch too. The middle part however was the best of all. Tesler took his cameras away from the studio to Battersea Fun Fair... it was a shade overlong and could have been trimmed by a couple of minutes... still, the sight of Davis leading the children around like a Pied Piper was a sheer joy to watch, especially the final shot of them skipping one by one across a bridge which seemed to dissolve into the distant trees. (EDIT: Battersea Bridge Road??) This sequence was followed by Davis going into a hat shop in search of a typically British outfit. Aided by Lionel Blair, who was at his best, we had a sequence rich in comedy and movement" (Note- thankfully this show survives in the ABC archive)"

"Yes, that’s Sammy Davis, Jr. between (Michael) Aquino and Anton LaVey (who was a well known Satanist). Here’s a clip from 1971 featuring Sammy in a show called; “Poor Devil”. You’d be kidding yourself if you think hollyweird doesn’t get down with some Satanism! Remember… they love flaunting truth in our face through film/tv. Be sure to note that “cute little hand gesture” he does that people think was recently invented:"
