Angela Lansbury calls for free ice cream worldwide.

Not going to happen, same amount of credibility.

It won't happen unless they get rid of us first.

The world population needs to produce too much food to be taking a sustainable POV.

Maybe this is their way of warning us the near extinction event is imminent.

Sadly, you're probably on the mark with this.

Would be absolutely fantastic to see the end to all pesticides being used within the food industry.

It should be a basic human right to eat food that has not been poisoned. Anything else is insanity.

On the plus side, it's good to see more and more organic products available in the supermarkets. They have the ability to bulk buy and get the costs down so even the poorest in society can eat good quality produce.
I know we should in an ideal world support local trade but my experience of local organic fruit and veg shops has not been a very positive one so far.

I grow a lot of pesticide-free food and there are more crop failures and losses along the way than if you spray or use dusts. For the two of us and the dogs it's not so critical with shops nearby but on a national level if the wheat harvest fails it can also be a catastrophic loss of income for the farmers.

You've got a point there.
So phasing out pesticides sound good but to open the path for GMO instead?

That's why if pesticides are outlawed I think we should all pay more for food.

However this idea isn't likely to be palatable to most of the working poor and the corporate machine. The working poor already paying too much in terms of rent and taxes to be able to afford. The corporate machine not wanting to have to pay more for produce they like to sell at insanely low prices in abundance to compete with their rivals.
