Default Comet Plunges in the high street (Apocalypse)

Forgive the sensationalist thread tile (It's been a slack week of news for the UK)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-20164228

This will come as no real surprise to avid watchers of white goods trading and almost certainly precedes further well known brand names going bust over the New Year.

I know these places charge an arm and a leg but you should be carefull what you wish for.

What happens when only the likes of Tesco and Asda are left out there in the real world?

But that's obviousy true. Speaking personally, I always try to buy with cash, but over the last few years that's become increasingly difficult.

It seems that anything i'm looking for is always out of stock, or not in stock in the first place!
I'm not referring to just Comet, it applies to all sorts of places.

The sad truth is: It's much easier to stay at home, avoid the traffic, avoid finding somewhere to park, avoid dealing with staff who have no knowledge or interest in dealing with you, and just click a few buttons and have the item delivered to your home - usually at a cheaper price, too.

High street stores just can't compete with that kind of convenience.

I'm glad Comet is closing down as the customer service in those stores were absolutely appalling. Another store I wish to see the demise of is PC World and Currys.

I've always thought suspected they are. They sell the same stuff, hold the same stock, charge the same prices, and are usually within minutes of each other!

You wouldn't place your branch of Currys next to a branch of Comet would you?

It would only make sense if after comparing prices in each, then buying it from the cheaper one - that they were ultimately owned by the same people.
