Okay, I called up HMRC and Liverpool City Council for application forms for Working Tax Credits and Housing/Council Tax benefits, so I'm just waiting now, grrr.

All you have to do is put down the amount of hours you work , this includes PAYE and self employed .

its just an idea but put rehursals and planning as part of your self employed .

AA

we actually need more info here .

we need

The amount of PAYE you do and howmuch self employed you do .
also the amount of hours you rehurse and plann etc .

do you know to be legitamate on self employed you need to go down the tax office and fill out a form ?

you will then have to get passport photos and send them off with that form .
within 3 weeks you should get a self employement card .

we need more info Armours Amazon to give advice to you .

defo get a self employment form and fill it in .

I fill out tax returns each year and have a business account, so HMRC know of my S/E status. I've never heard of a S/E card?

PAYE is only 3 hours a week, sometimes 12, depending on contractual work (two separate employers)

Gigging/tutoring takes up about 30hrs, rehearsals usually 3 hrs, lesson planning 3-6hrs a week.

I don't know if I can take the new business into account yet as we're not trading, but I probably spend about 6 hours a week on it.

to be self employed you need to be registered as self employed
to do that there is a self employed form to fill out , to which should give you a self employed number .

it looks as though they have been counting your self employed as volentary work to me .

all self employed people have a HMtaxes self employed number as far as meees can remember .

No, I have an S/E number, but I don't have a card with my picture on.

I just got a business overdraft from the bank; cost me £50, spread over 12 months but will cover my rent, which is my immediate priority.

So you have to register as self employed? Do you need to pay for a license?

No fee, you just call the tax office and they set it up for you. You get a number that they identify you via on your tax returns.

They're being asses because I don't earn much, but what I do earn, is pretty high hourly rate, mostly. So, say I only have x amount of money, they were trying to say it wasn't enough hours, because they weren't taking into account all the other work-related stuff like rehearsals, travelling, planning etc, only stage time.

Is creative accountancy not possible? You could earn less per hour and work more hours, you would have to leave this a while before trying this though.

I thought you could say how much you are earning and just tell them the hours you are having to work.

Yeah, they always ask for my accounts.

Fuck 'em. I always try hard to provide myself, so from now on, I'm taking what I'm entitled to

I feel a lot lighter now there may be a relief period for me to get on top of my bills.

Armourd Amazon ,

it is always best to create low estimates for the 1st year , they might pay you more but you will have to hold some back just incase they find out they have payed you too much , but then sometimes they take it from the next years payements .

I am sure that soon everything nice will come your way .

You deserve it .

It really isn't that hard these days. The internet is full of freelance job opportunities. I just hope the elites don't one day pull it, along with my living.
