heres some good contemporary artists:

Mitch Griffiths

http://mitchgriffiths.com/

Griffiths uses a traditional, almost forgotten style of painting, inspired by the light and composition of Old Master paintings, but he uses this style to depict the issues concerning 21st-century British society. His main subject is the transient and throwaway nature of contemporary culture, which is held in stark contrast to the permanence and indelibility of oil paint on canvas.

Banksy

This British street artist with an international reputation shows and explains some of his best work

Alex Grey

New York-based artist presents a portfolio featuring visionary paintings, drawings, performance series, and multimedia examples

I like a lot of spiritual art.

I think it's important to surround yourself with beautiful images, sort of nullifies the temporary ugliness of our urban environment.

Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939). He was the chief Art Nuveau artist who was around at the turn of the 20th century. I really like the mythical, sort of comic book-like look of his art.

To be honest i was obsessed with ABBA in their day,i loved them, but will not in a billion yrs watch the mammia film....its cringeworthy at best.
so,i will revert to my first love and that is OMD.....I still think even now their music, not the commercial stuff is still ahead of its time.unique.

Dali's work is beyond words for me. His visions haunt me, in a positive way, and have really influenced my perception, and to some extent, inspired me in my own (not necessarily artistic) endeavours.

I also like Giger. If ever I decided to take up art, Giger would be my guide and influence.

It would be interesting to combine Dali's vision with Giger's style. That would be mind-blowing.
