Myanmar's first census in more than 30 years has revealed that the country has 9 million fewer people than it thought.

The country's last national survey was in 1983 and until now the government had estimated that the total population was about 60 million.

But figures released on Friday from a census conducted in March and April says the population is just 51 million.

The sensitive count caused tension after officials banned some people from choosing their own ethnicity.

The United Nations, which helped Myanmar, also known as Burma, with the survey, had called for all Burmese to be allowed to choose their own ethnicity, but officials refused.

The government insists the Muslim Rohingya are illegal migrants from Bangladesh and calls them Bengalis.

Some isolated parts of northern Kachin state were not counted during the census because they are controlled by ethnic rebels.

The context of this info is this; The Burmese military junta had a tight grip on all state infrastructure. So they would know exactly the amount of births and deaths in their country.


So the idea that they have misplaced 9 million people is a nonsense.

Of the 9 million disappeared, how many of those were children?

Before Ann Gotlib went missing on June 1st 1983..In may , the national missing children's org was founded right there in the same vicinity where she was taken.. I haven't been able to find who all was involved in the establishment of it so far..But will keep trying.

Studien sagen dass knapp 800.000 Kinder jünger als 18 Jahre jedes Jahr in den USA vermisst werden, 2,185 Kinder werden jeden Tag vermisst gemeldet. Alleine in den USA!


Dies nur mal ein paar offizielle Zahlen, die Dunkelziffer dürfte so wie bei allem heutzutage etwa doppelt so hoch sein, mit steigenden Zahlen. Sie benutzen Kinder, gerne vor der Pubertät und Babys.
Seit 40 Jahren nimmt die UN das Blut von Babys weltweit ab, angeblich für einen Bluttest für das Baby - mittlerweile sagten sie es kommt in eine Datenbasis der Vereinten Nationen. ....

The numbers are high compared to cases like the McCann's where one missing child or two are reported every year through the mainstream media. The people had no point of relevance to look up the numbers.

The 'never-to-be-seen-again' numbers for missing children
in Europe are ~ 2000-2500 for every YEAR.
In the U.S. we have 58.081 (this number is from 2005).

More than 2,600 children as young as three have disappeared from Scottish schools for prolonged periods of time and some never found, according to new figures obtained by the BBC.

In some cases, children are marked as missing because they have moved house and failed to tell the school.

Agencies say others disappear for more "sinister" reasons including abuse and forced marriage.

In the past five years, 2,619 children aged three to 16 have gone missing.

The figures, obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, include 719 children going missing in the past year.

Children are categorised as "missing in education" if the authorities are unable to track them down from four weeks or more - or two to three days in the case of vulnerable children .

Some 24 children were never traced - in the main because authorities say they moved abroad.

Several of the councils said they do not record those who are "not returned" and do not know about or record cases of forced marriage.

Fife council said that in one case "the family moved to France" but it was "never verified".

Real problem

Specialist agencies say in addition to the children recorded as missing from school, there are others who disappear without being monitored because families tell a plausible story to the school before. for example. forcing the child to marry abroad.

One specialist agency worker, who cannot be identified for safety reasons, said: "Children going missing is significant to begin with and should worry everyone.

"Children going missing but not being reported missing, now that is a real problem.

"Now, if the parents are not going to go forward to report a child missing either because they have been taken out of the country, or they have been subjected to all sorts of horrors like female genital mutilation, like forced marriage, they could have been abducted and sold as a bride...that is a real, real worry."

A system was created to record and report missing children after the murder of five-year-old Danielle Reid in Inverness in 2002. Her body was not found for three months, partly because her mother told the authorities she had moved to a school in Manchester.

Ministers announced the Children Missing in Education system in 2005 with a unique identifying number for each child to track pupils between schools and council areas.

The inquiry following Danielle's murder stated: "If we do not share in the early detection and support of Scotland's vulnerable children, then the consequences of their subsequent neglect and abuse will re-visit us for many generations to come."

The system means most missing children should be recorded but the figures also show that some children have not been traced for 10 months and others have never been located.

Earlier this year, the Jay report inquiry in Rotherham revealed "shocking levels" of abuse and highlighted links between children who go missing and sexual exploitation.

In the past five years, 1,385 children have been recorded as "missing in education" in Glasgow, compared to 267 in Fife, 164 in North Lanarkshire, four in South Lanarkshire and 22 in Edinburgh.

A Scottish government spokesman said: "These are concerning figures and we are currently looking at how we can tackle the issue of children missing from education.

"The Scottish government is committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of Scotland's children and young people, and education and school staff play a crucial role in the support and protection of children.

"The national Children Missing from Education Guidance emphasises that where there is any concern that a child may be at risk, child protection procedures should be followed.

"We support local partners on the ground to continually improve child protection measures, including protecting children from risk of harm and neglect. This ensures children get the help they need when they need it."

The spokesman added: "Forced marriage and child sexual exploitation are abhorrent crimes. We continue to work with local authorities, law enforcement agencies, children's charities and other third sector organisations, as well as Parliament, to tackle child sexual exploitation and we legislated in 2011 to protect those in or at risk of being forced into a marriage.

"From 30 September 2014, the Scottish government created an additional layer of protection by making it a criminal offence to force someone into marriage."
'Robust procedures'

A spokesman for North Lanarkshire Council's Learning and Leisure Services, said: "We have robust procedures in place and, when a child or young person is registered as being missing, a thorough investigation is immediately carried out.

"The reasons for a child or young person being classified as missing include returning to their original country, moving to another school in the UK or being home educated.

"We work closely with The Children Missing from Education (Scotland) (CMES) Service to ensure all cases are investigated thoroughly."

A City of Edinburgh Council spokesman said: "We have very strict protocols in place for identifying children who may be, for whatever reason, not receiving an education.

"These include checks by their schools, the involvement of education welfare officers and other local authorities, right through to the Scottish government and Interpol.

"Although there are often quite straightforward reasons why children may not be at school, it's important we carry out all the checks we can to ensure their welfare."

A spokeswoman for Glasgow City Council said: "Glasgow has a very transient population with approximately a class of 25 in and out of the city each week.

"We will do all that we can to follow up on any child that moves out of the country and have Slovakian case workers in Govanhill who do as much as they can to trace families. A number of families move around and don't stick to term dates either.

"Asian families can go off on holidays and not return. Again, we will do all that we can to make sure they are in education in the new country."

There were claims of orgies at car washes and airports, and of children being flushed down toilets to secret rooms where they would be abused, then cleaned up and presented back to their unsuspecting parents. Some interviewed children talked of a game called "Naked Movie Star" suggesting they were forcibly photographed nude.. During the trial, testimony from the children stated that the naked movie star game was actually a rhyming taunt used to tease other children—"What you say is what you are, you're a naked movie star,"—and had nothing to do with having naked pictures taken..Videotapes of the interviews with children were reviewed by Dr. Michael Maloney, a British clinical psychologist and professor of psychiatry, as an expert witness regarding the interviewing of children. Maloney was highly critical of the interviewing techniques used, referring to them as improper, coercive, directive, problematic, adult-directed in a way that forced the children to follow a rigid script and that "many of the kids' statements in the interviews were generated by the examiner"..



The children's testimony during the preliminary hearings was inconsistent.. Michelle Smith and Lawrence Pazder, co-authors of the now-discredited Satanic ritual abuse autobiography Michelle Remembers, met with the parents and children involved in the trial, and were believed by the initial prosecutor Glenn Stevens to have influenced the children's testimony..The media coverage was skewed towards an uncritical acceptance of the prosecution's viewpoint.. David Shaw of the Los Angeles Times wrote a series of articles, which later won the Pulitzer Prize, discussing the flawed and skewed coverage presented by his own paper on the trial..The trial lasted se7en years and cost $15 million, the longest and most expensive criminal case in the history of the United States legal system, and ultimately resulted in no convictions..In many states, laws were passed allowing children to testify on closed-circuit TV so the children would not be traumatized by facing the accused..9 of 11 jurors at a press conference following the trial stated that they believed the children had been molested but the evidence did not allow them to state who had committed the abuse beyond a reasonable doubt..The prosecution then gave up trying to obtain a conviction, and the case was closed with all charges against Ray Buckey dismissed. He had been jailed for 5 years without ever being convicted of any wrongdoing..During the trial, George Freeman was called as a witness and testified that Ray Buckey had confessed to him while sharing a cell.. Freeman later attempted to flee the country and confessed to perjury in a series of other criminal cases in which he manufactured testimony in exchange for favorable treatment by the prosecution in other cases, in several instances creating false confessions of other inmates..

Parents who believed their children had been abused at the preschool hired archeologist E. Gary Stickel to investigate the site.. In May 1990, Stickel claimed he found evidence of tunnels, consistent with the children's accounts, under the McMartin Preschool using ground-penetrating radar..Others have disagreed with Stickel's conclusions.. John Earl wrote in 95 that the concrete slab floor was undisturbed except for a small patch where the sewer line was tapped into..W. Joseph Wyatt's 2002 report concluded that the "tunnels" under the preschool were more plausibly explained as a rubbish pit used by the owners of the site before the preschool's construction in 66.. Materials found during the excavation included bottles, tin cans, plywood, inner tubes, as well as the former owner's old mail box.. Only three small items found near the edge of the concrete slab were dated after 66, which Wyatt suggested were most likely dragged into the pit by rats or other scavengers.. Moreover, Wyatt speculated that Stickel's conclusions were coloured by his collaboration with the parents of the McMartin children...
