Frgn NZ Weekend Herald......with all its bias and bull...it's huge and heavy to carry. Like 5 folded blankets rolled up.....

Only got it for the crossword section.... the other 10,000 pages is lying in a rejected slump in the corner of the lounge... cartoon character of Trumps pouting round mouth, beneath his umbrella shaped toupee comb over leering out from the World section...

ummmmm... 2 across - Daub........6 letters, 2nd letter 'u' .......?

Lolita (black and white ) DVD directed by Stanley Kubrick. Expert portrayal of Vladimir Nabokov's novel with James Mason playing Humbert Humbert the besotted poet and lecturer and Peter Sellers as Lolita's other lover who displays his talents like a modern day Iago in various hilarious cameo roles as the eccentric playwright Quilty. This film is first and foremost a psychological thriller of a fatal love triangle with tragic consequences.

Steve Jobs - (DVD) Drama documentary, Michael Fassbender playing the man of that name, his reformation of Apple, what was behind it , what was behind him. Not so much a psychological thriller as a psychiatric thriller as it charts the workings of Steve Jobs' complex mind from backstage to board room which made him what he is in public and private life. A genuinely dangerous, ruthless, spontaneous innovator, geek, nerd, blagger, visionary, chancer, with a fervent, religious belief in his products who made as many enemies of his colleagues as he did of exploiting their skills.

One rapid change I'm seeing in UK entertainment industry is how the DVD, like the old VHS are now available for 50p each now.

"The Birds" remastered (DVD) Alfred Hitchcock (with commentaries & casting interview with Tippi Hedron)

"The Lion Has Wings" - DVD first ever British propaganda WWII film made only two months after WWII broke out, within two weeks, on a minimal budget. Black and white. Montage of documentary footage of rural peaceful England of cosy hamlets ( ? where IS that now ?) contrasted with Hitler's militaristic Germany. Ralphie Richardson stars as an RAF ace upholding British values in a world I neither know nor understand.

£1.50 for the two from a local charity shop.
