Default do xmas hits sum up society

heres a wiki of xmas songs released over the years.

we all know the classics of the 70's and 80's and how pretty jolly they are.
once we get into the 90's it starts to change. they are more gimmicky over substance.
as for the noughties and teenies well its just downright depressing.

heres coldplays effort at the xmas song in 2010
now where did i put the razor blades.

so does the quality, and style of xmas hits over the years reflect society. i'm saying yes.
society is going down the pan just like xmas hits.

Controlled? Yes.
I doubt xmas is as great as people believe it is in their heads.
