Brilliant discussion guys.

I too have talked to friends and family about it (I ran a quiz on my Facebook too). I would say it's about a 50/50 split of people remembering things differently.

Most of them thought it was weird but, as ever... they've shut it out and continued with their lives. But one or two are feeling a little bit uncomfortable over it.

I actually think that's the difference between a conspiracy theorist and everybody else. We all see anomalies, know the Politicians are lying etc... but the conspiracy theorist refuses to brush it off. It eats away at you and you have to look into things further.

So, the Mandela Effect is a whole bunch of things that a lot of people remember differently to how they actually are. For example, the guitarist from the who is called Pete Townsend. But now, his surname contains an "h" that wasn't there before. Not only is he now Pete Townshend, but he's always been Pete Townshend. And if you hook out an old vinyl from the 70's - he's got an "h" back then too. The whole timeline is buggered.

In Snow White, "Mirror, mirror on the wall" is now "Magic mirror on the wall".

In Forrest Gump he doesn't say "Life is like a box of chocolates", he says "Life was like a box of chocolates".

In Jaws, it's not "We're gonna need a bigger boat", it's "You're gonna need a bigger boat".

Darth Vader doesn't say "Luke, I am your father", he's say's "No, I am your father".

Sex in the City is now called Sex and the City (and apparently - always has been).

It's really subtle little things, but it's killing me.

And here's the one that I cannot get my head around. It's more for the Americans among us... but it's a crazy one. I lived in the States for a couple of years at the end of the 90's. I used to read my kids a series of books about the Berenstein Bears. But, as of now - They're called the Berenstain Bears. With an "a".

I can't get my head around this at all. The girl in this video sums it up perfectly...

https://youtu.be/-T6s7zb2-c0

one sideline issue i'm personally very disappointed with the Melissa Melton vid, is that she gives what almost sounds like a very nasty hypnotic induction in the beginning of the video: "what i'm about to talk to you about may cause you'r brain to ache..."

and the rest of the sentence is not very nice when you try to give people important views or info....

i remember melissa and aaron from the infowar days.

just my 2 cents on the vid

Ok this one has me scratching my head, in Kevin costners field of dreams
I clearly remember the voice he heard say, if you build it they will come,
But now it's, if you build it he will come

These all seem to be mainly misquotes from TV and movies and misheard lyrics.

And again with Ellen:
At 2:00 of the first one she clearly says "Sex And The City fever."

To my Midwestern American ear, which is the standard accent for national broadcasts she says 'and.' It runs together but it's there. Someone said Americans really pronounce the word 'and' but I think we almost contract it to 'n' more often than not. If you had only heard of the show you might think it is called Sex In The City because that's what it sounds like when someone says Sex'n'TheCity.

I've been saying that line for years. especially in relation to ill-thought out building projects; or whenever I see crappy new housing estates that seem to be thrown up in a few months.

Besides,"He"will come, doesn't even make sense in the context of the film!

"They" is referring to a whole baseball team.

Movie lovers have been misquoting “Field of Dreams” for years. Nope, the mysterious voice in the sky did not tell Kevin Costner’s Ray Kinsella, “If you build it, they will come.” The voice said, “If you build it, he will come.” He. Just one guy, meaning Ray Kinsella’s departed father, John.

The field of dreams one I find very strange I remember watching that movie
Several times and the line was always, if you build it they will come,
It was massive film in the 80s and that was the stand out line in the film.

It was mentioned on the dark matter network on tunein radio today
on the Other side of midnight show hosted by Richard c Hoagland.

What about the new version making no sense in the context of the film?

How does it not make sense? Here he is meeting "him."

Well that's him meeting his dad, after all the baseball greats show up first.

Here's the film's storyline:

When Iowa farmer Ray (Kevin Costner) hears a mysterious voice one night in his cornfield saying "If you build it, he will come," he feels the need to act. Despite taunts of lunacy, Ray builds a baseball diamond on his land, supported by his wife, Annie (Amy Madigan). Afterward, the ghosts of great players start emerging from the crops to play ball, led by "Shoeless" Joe Jackson. But, as Ray learns, this field of dreams is about much more than bringing former baseball greats out to play.

That's the "they" I'm referring to.

You saw the movie and still to this day you haven't noticed that "he will come" makes perfect sense. You think you have been paying attention but you haven't. The "much more" I assume is the chance to meet his dad in his younger days.

Right? Right? Right?

"If you build it they will come" is an old saying. It sounds like it was altered in the movie.

This phenomenon is either mis-quoting, mis-hearing, remembering wrong or...................... alternate realities colliding creating minor changes in movie and t.v. titles and scripts.

If you build it they will come

I loved that movie and also used the quote after the movie in my general life.

and I remember it as they, the family were in dire straights, they needed punters to come and pay or they would lose the farm.

It's a quasi deja vu feeling, and I had it the other day.

For some reason, I was thinking of the actor Abe Vigoda. He was a dour, long faced actor who was in The Godfather and was on TV shows. He was reported as dead at one time in the '80's, to which there was an article in a tabloid where it stated "Abe Vigoda : I'm not Dead!' It was a running joke for a while. Just the other day, I remembered that while I was at work, the whole "Abe Vigoda Dead" thing. It may have been the same day, I noticed on one of the omnipotent flat screen TV's at work that Abe Vigoda died..... that's like some 4th level Mandela effect.

That does happen a lot with celebrities. they'll do a "Who Died This Year" retrospective at the end of every year, and you'll wonder why you didn't hear of a certain death, and you'll be sure that some died years previously.

If it's dimensional realities colliding that's cool. If you ever find yourself looking for something that previously was right in front of your face, close your eyes and think "Take me to the spot where my keys were right there.." Try it. They reappear most times.
