![]() Motto for the Most Noble Order of the Garter (founded 1348) ![]() The motto is in ‘Old French’ and can be found on the front cover of the British Passport. ![]() The motto can also be found on the Coat of Arms of Maximilian II, Holy Roman Emperor (1527 – 1576) who was a Knight of the Garter. ![]() Past Knights of the Order of the Garter also included the following Holy Roman Emperors: Sigismund, Holy Roman Emperor 1368–1437 Albert V, Duke of Austria 1397–1439 Later Albert II, Holy Roman Emperor Frederick III, Holy Roman Emperor 1415–1493 Maximilian, King of the Romans 1459–1520 Later Maximilian I, Holy Roman Emperor Charles, Infant of Spain, Archduke of Austria and Duke of Burgundy 1500–1558 Later Charles V, Holy Roman Emperor Ferdinand, Infant of Spain, Archduke of Austria 1503–1564 Later Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor Rudolf II, Holy Roman Emperor 1552–1612 (Ref: The Knights Of The Garter 1348-1939: With A Complete List Of The Stall-Plates In St. George'S Chapel Hardcover – 1940 by EH Fellowes (Author)) So the question is why an old French motto with associations to the Holy Roman Empire on the front of the British Passport? ‘Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense’
Motto for the Most Noble Order of the Garter (founded 1348) ‘Order of the Garter’ Wikipedia Page: If you try adding information on membership of the Order of the Garter detailing that 8 Holy Roman Emperors were Knights of this Order, the info gets removed within the day. Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Order_of_the_Garter Example justification for this censorship as follows: 16:26, 30 August 2018? Esrever (talk | contribs)? . . (67,334 bytes) (-846)? . . (Reverted to revision 857125383 by GrindtXX (talk): Please stop adding this information here; the article does not need a list of former Holy Roman Emperors who may have been members. (TW)) (undo | thank) (Tag: Undo) It would be interesting to see if any other forum users suffer the same redactions when it comes to adding this type of info on Wikipedia. (N.B. I like Wikipedia and its concept. The issues come when the external ‘Censors’ intervene. However, this shouldn’t surprise us).

The stamp displayed an image of a Tudor rose framed by the word “America” and the phrase of the Order of the Garter “Honi soit qui mal y pense”. The colonists greeted the stamps with outrage and violence. Colonial merchants called for a boycott of British goods; some even organised attacks on customs houses and the homes of tax collectors. A group of Bostonians for example burned a building they thought to be the “Stamp Office” and invaded the home of stamp distributor Andrew Oliver, threatening to kill him. Oliver had already fled the premises and resigned his post. In every state, except Georgia, the “stamp master” resigned under duress, making the Stamp Act impossible to implement. On 18 March 1766, Parliament voted to repeal the Stamp Act. See the Repeal of the Stamp Act First Day Cover. ![]() At the same time the Stamp Act was repealed, they passed the Declaratory Act, which confirmed that the British government had total legislative power over the colonies. The Declaratory Act carefully omitted any assertion of Parliament’s right to tax colonists. At the same time, Parliament passed the Revenue Act of 1766, which compensated Britain’s loss of income from the stamp tax with taxes on molasses (an ingredient in making rum). The colonists paid this tax without complaint. The protests against the Stamp Act is sometimes considered one of the first organised political actions of the American Revolution: https://www.history.com/this-day-in-...act-remembered Here’s a full list of the Knights and Ladies of the Order of the Garter (1011 members since it was founded in 1348). It includes the 6 Holy Roman Emperors, some former British Prime Ministers, and lots of aristocrats. The Royal families of the European countries are represented (but NOT Belgium). At this time the Spanish Royal family has 2 Knights of the Garter, with King Felipe and his father Juan Carlos: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o..._of_the_Garter

St. Paul's Outside-the-Walls is one of the four great basilicas of Rome.
![]() St. Paul’s is today the only one of Rome’s four major papal basilicas entrusted to the care of a religious order. Benedictine monks have resided there since the time of Pope Gregory I (590-604), who was himself a former monk, and one of the legacies of that tradition is the basilica’s extensive library, whose collection includes some 10,000 volumes dating from before the 18th century. ![]() The Papal Basilica of St. Paul outside the Walls (Italian: Basilica Papale di San Paolo fuori le Mura), commonly known as St. Paul's outside the Walls, is one of Rome's four ancient, papal, major basilicas, along with the basilicas of St. John in the Lateran, St. Peter's, and St. Mary Major. ![]() ![]() Coat of Arms for the Papal Basilica of St. Paul outside the Walls (one of Rome's four ancient, papal, major basilicas) with the motto for the ‘British’ Order of the Knights of the Garter?! Ref: http://www.abbaziasanpaolo.org/stemm...fuori-le-mura/ By now, an enquiring mind might start to ask what exactly the ‘Garter’ refers to? (and the explanation is not the lame BS official narrative for this Most Noble Order of Knights).

‘Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense’
Ferdinand V (1452 - 1516), King of Castile. Appointed Knight of the Garter #218 in 1480, although the stall in Windsor Castle was voided through non-installation. Ferdinand called the Catholic (Spanish: el Católico), was King of Sicily from 1468 and King of Aragon from 1479 until his death. ![]() His marriage in 1469 to Isabella, the future queen of Castile, was the marital and political "cornerstone in the foundation of the Spanish monarchy." Ferdinand wasn’t very British…… Ferdinand had a role in inaugurating the discovery of the New World in the future Americas, since he and his wife Isabella sponsored the first voyage of Christopher Columbus (1451-1506), in 1492. ![]() Catalina the seventh child of Ferdinand and Isabella, later known as Catherine of Aragon, queen of England, (1485–1536). She married first Arthur, Prince of Wales, son of and heir to King Henry VII of England and, after Prince Arthur's death, she married his brother Henry, Duke of York, who also became Prince of Wales and then King Henry VIII. She thus became Queen of England and was the mother of Queen Mary I.
