Magic mushrooms grow all over the UK, although I think the season will be mid-October to mid November this year depending on the Autumn rains. Once the frost comes then the season is over. The best fields to find them are ones where sheep graze as this has the best type of grass for their growth. I don't know the right preparation for the Fly Agaric which is the one you find in woodlands and they will be here soon and very easy to find. If you are searching for liberty caps you will not find them in woodland.

Oh yeah and if you find a good spot don't tell a soul because everyone will want to go there and eventually the police will turn up and take them away from you. I have found a nice legal high in the UK but i'm keeping it quiet, well legal to pick probably not to prepare but I won't be telling the whole world as i've seen what happens when this sort of knowledge get out in the open. legal today, abused by the nation and illegal tomorrow.

Fly Agaric are in my local woods right now. I saw them a few days ago. The rabbits get them quickly though.

Dartmoor, I have heard is good, very good for magic mushrooms.

Remember they are only illegal if you are caught drying them (unless the law has changed!)

Be careful of the well know spots like hay bluff..the police will arrest you.
look for fields that look like they haven't been sewn for years..

does any one know of any where in Ireland?

Agreed, they're not libs. I find loads of those bastards but they're no good.

Liberty caps have really tough stems, the ones in that picture I know well and their stems break easily, they're just a common grass mushroom.

Puffballs and fairy ring champinions are great though.

Dry the champignons and use them for stews. Nice.

And puffballs are fabulous.

My favourite are Ceps. Those suckers are divine.

The woodland near Market Rasen racecourse is great for wild forest mushrooms. Maybe even find some magies there in the open areas.

I'm going to go mushroom hunting soon in Lincolnshire. Anyone know a nailed on spot in Lincs?

i didnt think fly agaric was classed as a magic mushroom, i took one once and i felt like id been poisoned. i definately would not recommend them they are not fun like the proper magic mushrooms in my experience.

Rossendale in Lancashire is a particularly fertile place, as are some areas of North Wales
Remember to look for the little pointy cap or remnants of that which defines liberty cap
Some similar looking things can damage your kidneys

Yes and don't forget they are darker when it has been raining.

They grow all around me, lucky me hey?

I think the law was recently changed, last year or the year before. Now illegal to even pick I think.

Well tbh there seem to be a lot of regional variations? the ones that I've seen growing round here in north london always have that sort of look to them.

and they do work

Do they? I've thrown hundreds of those suckers away.

They are by far the commonest grass mushroom around.
