Default RIP Bill Maynard

Just heard the news that veteran TV actor Bill Maynard, most famous in later years for playing Claude Greengrass in Heartbeart, has died at 89, apparently from breaking a hip after falling off his mobility scooter.

Very sad to hear this as I used to love watching him as Greengrass; was glued to Heartbeat back when it began in 1992, not so much in later years after Bill left and it became rather silly and went on far too long for my liking. If my dad was still around he'd be gutted to hear of his death as he was a big HB fan. It was probably the only decent show on TV for me. I heard that Icke used to watch Heartbeat, replying in a radio interview "what do you watch on TV?" to which he replied "the only thing I watch is Heartbeat with Greengrass". Good man

RIP Bill.

R.I.P. Bill.
Remember him mostly from The Gaffer.
"He's the Gaffer! You can try it on with him! He's The Gaffer!" went his theme tune.

And there was also "Oh No! It's Selwyn Fogget" but again, I only know the theme tune rather than the actual show.

Selwyn Froggitt's passed away, never mind...
That was a funny programme back in the day. He had a guest role in The Sweeney too playing a senior copper that was made a fool of by a grubby informant.

I used to happily sit with a bag of chips and a bottle of Tizer watching, Oh No, It's Selwyn Froggitt on the tele back in the day. That was the first time I saw Bill Maynard and just like Selwyn's brother, Maurice he was 'magic.' If I remember rightly he was married to Sir Donald Campbell's widow.
