Default Scarborough Fair

A further update from Real Whitby: The Police Station That Shamed Britain

http://www.real-whitby.co.uk/police-...shamed-britain

There is a useful chronological list of their related-articles at the bottom of the long article.
They seem confident that there is more to come to light, and elsewhere that the position of the Council leader & former Scarborough Police Chief is untenable.

Police told of 11 new suspects in Cyril Smith abuse probe

The possible suspects are being investigated for abusing children at a Rochdale children's home.

Police investigating the sexual abuse of children by former MP Cyril Smith have been told of ‘at least’ 11 other suspects.

Seven alleged victims have given officers the names of men they say were behind the abuse linked to Knowl View School in Rochdale where Smith was chairman of the governors in its final year.

Next month a report is due to be published by barrister, Andrew Warnock QC, who was instructed by Rochdale council in January to ‘independently review all council decision-making’ related to the former special school in Bamford from the late 80s to mid 90s.

At least a dozen boys are said to have been victims of sexual abuse during that time and police are now sifting through 33 boxes of previously undiscovered archive material relating to the school.

Some of the suspects named by the victims may have died, but all had links to Knowl View.

Det Insp Caroline Ward said: “Following the publicity surrounding Sir Cyril Smith last year, seven people came forward to report physical and sexual abuse which occurred at Knowl View from the 1970s onwards.

“Those allegations relate to physical and sexual abuse that took place between pupils and adults at the school and these complaints are currently being investigated by officers from Greater Manchester Police’s Public Protection Division. These complaints relate to at least 11 potential suspects, but as not all victims knew the full names of their abusers we cannot as yet confirm the exact number of different suspects. Also, we are working to establish if any of the potential suspects are now deceased.

“The allegations we have received are building up a picture of the regime that was in place at Knowl View at that time. We have also been working very closely with Rochdale council and we are now examining boxes of files held about Knowl View as part of investigation.

“I would encourage anyone who was a victim of either sexual or physical abuse to come forward and speak to police as the more evidence we have the better the chances of bringing abusers to justice.”

Knowl View was shut in 1994 after a dossier detailing abuse was handed to police. Whistleblower, and former head of care at the school, Martin Digan, said he feared Smith was among those abusing boys and he verbally reported his suspicions to police and the council.

Smith was investigated twice in the 70s and 90s but never prosecuted and it wasn’t until 2012 that police admitted he had abused children.

Jeez, history is about to be wiped out.

Law set to give Attorney General power to edit online news archives in the run-up to trials

Nine of Britain's biggest news organisations have issued a joint warning to MPs about the potential "chilling effect" of a planned law forcing online archive news stories to be removed in the run-up to a criminal trial.

Clauses 37 and 38 of the new Criminal Justice and Courts Bill introduce new powers which will allow the Attorney General and the courts to require owners of online news archives to remove material which it is argued might prejudice upcoming proceedings.

If the website operators fail to comply, the current proposals stipulate that criminal sanctions could follow in the form of either an unlimited fine or imprisonment.

“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumoured by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.”

Default AA / 'Andrew'

Courtesy of Twitter comes this from 'Andrew Ash':

http://writehere.com/my-page/140103-2/andrew-ash

Given the biographical information it would suggest that AA may well indeed be the 'Andrew' of 1990 Times article previously posted (despite age difference).

The "NAYPIC certainly didn't see this one come" posting may be an interesting - if confusing - read for some.

Tories ‘black book of sleaze’ and how they destroyed all evidence of MPs’ wrongdoing

Apr 13, 2014 08:00 By Ben Glaze

Damning reports kept by party whips have been ripped out as the Conservative party finds itself mired in a tidal wave of sleaze allegations

Sex party: The Light Apart Hotel in Manchester

Conservative bosses destroyed secret evidence of their own MPs’ sleazy antics, a high-ranking party source confirmed last night.

Damning reports kept by Conservative whips – the party’s disciplinarians – in an infamous “black book” were ripped out amid fears they could be forced to reveal the potentially explosive contents to shocked voters.

The book featured written details of MPs’ indiscretions and drink-fuelled behaviour and was used by the whips to help keep them under control.

A senior Tory source told the Sunday Mirror: “The book was full of intelligence – an aide memoir for the whips. It was officially called Whips’ Notes.

“The paperwork would eventually be reported to the PM’s office. The Chief Whip would be aware of it, and then it would get destroyed.

“Apart from anything else, no-one wants paperwork which is out of date hanging around. It’s not very good for security and it’s not very secure for Freedom of Information requests.

“Now it’s all being done verbally instead.”

The so-called Black Book – actually a blue folder – was eventually done away with just over four years ago.

Now Tory whips have verbal only chats with wayward MPs to prevent security leaks.

Another source told the Sunday Mirror: “It seems unbelievable that in this day and age the Tories thought it was right that they could handle potentially very serious complaints about their MPs in this way.

“Every other industry and organisation away from Parliament now have highly skilled and trained HR departments to handle any emerging problems.”

Pressure growing: David Cameron

Our revelations will pile pressure on the Conservatives following a barrage of sleaze claims in recent weeks.

Yesterday it emerged Parliament’s expenses watchdog is investigating claims that taxpayers indirectly funded a £2,500 hotel suite used for a gay sex party during the Conservative Party conference in 2011.

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority said it was “deeply worried” by the allegations surrounding the secret bash at Manchester’s Light ApartHotel.

The probe centres on claims that the Policy Research Unit - which is overseen by senior Conservative figures and partly funded by Tory MPs’ expenses - paid for the rooms where the party took place.

The claims arose in the wake of revelations about inappropriate relationships between young Tory researchers and MPs.

Senior Conservative MPs - some of whom have been named to the Sunday Mirror - are alleged to have regularly got drunk at Commons drinking sessions where they made passes at male parliamentary workers and flirted with them.

Yesterday – in further deeply embarrassing revelations for David Cameron’s party – young researchers told how their parents would be ‘horrified’ if they knew the full truth about the sleazy antics in what has been nicknamed the ‘Palace of Sexminster’.

One aide said there were even rumours of MPs and peers using date rape drugs on junior activists or paying for abortions after getting their staff pregnant.

Last Friday, the Tories announced a new code of conduct to act as a “basic statement of what should be best practice in the workplace for Conservative Members and their staff”.

Allegations: Mark Menzies MP

Supporters hope it will impose discipline on MPs after the black book became an object of fear among Conservatives.

It was believed to contain evidence of their affairs, plus sexual preferences and embarrassing episodes in pubs and bars.

It was claimed whips would produce the book if they needed to persuade a colleague to vote for legislation they were against, or support a minister under fire.

Details would be fed back to No 10 so the Prime Minister’s aides were kept in the loop.

A source said they were unaware of whips explicitly blackmailing MPs but added: “Whips might well say to people, ‘It’s been reported to us that you were drunk the other night. You need to control your drinking because it could get in the Press’.

“They wouldn’t be so obvious as to persuade someone to vote a particular way, but the whips do have a role in trying to help people.”

The source went on: “They can’t force anybody to do anything. In the old days there were whips who shoved people around and shouted at them.

“They just can’t do that any more. If they did, it would end up on Twitter and the Crown Prosecution Service really would have a case to prosecute. So now they use persuasion instead.”

Two weeks ago Downing Street was rocked after the Sunday Mirror exclusively revealed how Tory MP Mark Menzies had paid for sex and drugs with a Brazilian rent boy.

Rogerio Santos, 19, says the pair had sex and Mr Menzies was photographed semi-naked alongside plates of methedrone.

Santos claims he met Mr Menzies on a gay escort website and the MP began paying him £250 an hour for sex.

The MP for Fylde, in Lancashire, resigned as a ministerial aide following our revelations.

Default 25 yrs since Hillsborough-don't give up the fight!

It takes a long time for the truth to surface, but sometimes it can happen and in your lifetime. I believe the internet and social media now speeds up the truth process - KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!!

Savile and his very clear connections to Sutcliffe, before the Ripper murders is extremely distressing and we need much more info. Why has no-one interviewed Sutcliffe or any of his many and various 'psychiatrists' over the years? The police from were complicit in the cover up of information and the political aspects - just like Hillsborough.

I know a lot of great people who used to be regulars here are taking a break and following up on other topics, so a message is thanks for everything so far and please come back soon!

Excellent articles in Daily Mail who are serialising Book on Cyril Smith written by MP Simon Danczuk

Quote:
Sex ring at Cyril's school: He WASN'T a lone wolf. In our latest devastating extract from the book shaking Westminster, we reveal how Cyril Smith led a ring of abusers who launched night-time raids on a school for vulnerable boys
Knowl View was a residential school for children with learning difficulties
Was Cyril Smith's playground where lives of vulnerable men were scarred
They mention Savile's link to Smith and a social worker who tried to bring it to the attention of social services and the local priest who dismissed him. The retired priest is now himself under investigation, Canon Mortimer Stanley.

Quote:
‘I told him there was terrible abuse going on at Knowl View. I thought he’d be horrified — but he didn’t want to know.’

In fact, the priest told Digan to leave and not repeat ‘any of this nonsense’ again. ‘He literally threw me out,’ he said.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...able-boys.html

One interesting comment in the article refers to the intervention of the council's insurers, reminding us of the intervention of insurers in the North Wales investigation. How can it be that insurers can wield such power in cases of child abuse?

Quote:
Six more women contact police claiming they were sexually abused by Catholic priest.
Canon Mortimer Stanley, 82, who retired from St Vincent de Paul RC Church in Norden, Rochdale , was interviewed by police under caution last month.

Originally three women claimed they were indecently assaulted and sexually abused while pupils at nearby St Vincent's Primary School.

The women were aged under 11 when it is alleged the offences happened between 1980 and 2000.

It is claimed the abuse was committed in a presbytery next to the school. Now after the M.E.N reported the police investigation another six women have made allegations.

Sidney Cooke was definitely in an Isle of Wight prison at one stage according to The Telegraph, perhaps Maloney made a mistake?

Quote:
But even when segregated, paedophiles may not be safe. Notorious child sex killer Leslie Bailey was strangled in his prison cell by two other inmates in October 1993.

The 40-year-old paedophile had admitted his part in the murders of six-year-old Barry Lewis, seven-year-old Mark Tildesley and Jason Swift, 14. Bailey, from Hackney, east London, had been segregated with 125 other "vulnerable prisoners" at top security Whitemoor jail in Cambridgeshire because of fears for his safety.

Michael Cain, then 26, and already serving life for murder, and John Brookes, then 31, and on a life term for manslaughter, were convicted of murdering Bailey. They showed no remorse at their trial.

Six days after Bailey's death another member of his paedophile gang, Sidney Cooke, was attacked in his cell at Albany high security prison on the Isle of Wight. Cooke, who was convicted of the manslaughter of Jason Swift, was also being held in a vulnerable prisoner unit.

In any case there's always some evidence that disappears. It usually disappears so completety as if it was never there in the first place.
Then there's the evidence that simply lies. Sometimes this evidence is a police report or some other 'reliable' ie unquestionnable source. This is the type of evidence that will last forever and ever
.

It's quite simple and not at all implicated or suggested.

The photo agency have removed the caption info.

That info is now only available as picture metadata.

The caption info has been removed. It is no longer there.

Have a look at those two big red question marks. There's nothing there.

The opposite of complicated is simple.

Probably all been put back now.
