Default Fit of giggles for BBC newsreader

Fit of giggles for BBC newsreader
Saturday, 29 March 2008 10:59

The BBC switchboard was said to be in 'meltdown' after a newsreader collapsed in a fit of giggles in the middle of a bulletin yesterday.

Charlotte Green had just introduced an item about the oldest known recording of the human voice on the Radio 4 Today programme.

As the recording of a woman singing the French song Clair de Lune, made in 1860, played, somebody in the studio apparently whispered in her ear that it sounded like a bee buzzing in a bottle.

The result was an uncontrollable fit of the giggles from Ms Green as she announced the death of screenwriter Abby Mann.

Thousands of callers asked to hear a repeat performance.

They don't just hope for our ignorance, they depend on it... it's time to break that cycle!

Sounded like the next newsreader was about to start as well
what i found interesting is how they scratched soundwaves onto smoke blackened paper t omake the recording in the first place ? Reminds me of that x -files episode where they had the voice of jesus recorded into grooves on an ancient jar .Still would like to know ho they did the paper thing though
