Susanna "Suzy" Lamplugh born 3 May 1961, [citation needed] Gloucestershire

was a British estate agent reported missing on 28 July 1986 (aged 25) in Fulham, southwest London, England.

She was officially declared dead, presumed murdered, in 1994.[1]

The last clue of her whereabouts was an appointment to show a house in Shorrolds Road to someone she referred to as "Mr Kipper".

Following her disappearance, police tested the DNA of 800 unidentified bodies and skeletal remains that matched Lamplugh's description.[2]

In August 2010, police began a new search of a field off the B4084 between Pershore and Drakes Broughton.

The area is about three miles away from the former Norton Barracks in Worcestershire, which was searched in December 2000 and February 2001.[2] In December 2000, police had searched a nearby brickworks,[3] which several witnesses had mentioned in their original statements.[4]

The search proved unsuccessful and to this day, her remains have not been found.

The Aberfan disaster was a catastrophic collapse of a colliery spoil tip in the Welsh village of Aberfan, near Merthyr Tydfil, on 21 October 1966, which killed 116 children and 28 adults.

It was caused by a build-up of water in the accumulated rock and shale, which suddenly started to slide downhill in the form of slurry.[1]

Over 40,000 cubic metres of debris covered the village in minutes, and the classrooms at Pantglas Junior School were immediately inundated and young children and teachers died from impact or suffocation. Many noted the poignancy of the situation: if the disaster had struck a few minutes earlier, the children would not have been in their classrooms, and if it had struck a few hours later, the school would have broken up for half-term.

Great rescue efforts were made, but the large numbers who crowded into the village tended to hamper the work of the trained rescue teams, and delayed the arrival of mineworkers from the Merthyr Vale Colliery. Only a few lives could be saved in any case.

The official inquiry blamed the National Coal Board for extreme negligence, and its Chairman, Lord Robens, for making misleading statements. Parliament soon passed new legislation about public safety in relation to mines and quarries.
