"The Prestige" I think this was David Bowie's final film appearance playing Nikolas Tesla and he does it very well, even though he's only in the film for about ten minutes in an obviously made-for-Bowie role, this film does explore, at surface level at least, possibilities of teleportation via electro-magnetism. On his new discovery Tesla, approaching death, is portrayed as wishing the technology to be destroyed, rather than allow it into the hands of an unready mankind.

"Hamlet" (2009 BBC/ RSC) Starring David Tennant. Now I've played some Hamlets (DVDs) in my time - Olivier, Gibson, Branagh but this one is by the far the best yet. Set in a modern day court with stark, dark scenery, Patrick Stewart as both the ghost and Claudius and for once a plausible Ophelia (Mariah Gales) who unlike other productions, doesn't look like she belongs on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine. David Tennant is a far better Hamlet than he even was a Doctor Who, capturing that manic insecurity and descent into madness with an almost Jarvis Cockeresque defiance

Definitely a Hamlet for the 21st century this one too, as Hamlet's soliloquies are remotely recorded and spy-tapped by the castle's sinister interior CCTV sytem. Surveillance features strongly in this production. Good books are unputdownable - this vid is unpausable once you get watching it. Even if you already know this play inside out and back to front, this is a very fresh, compelling, intense and disturbing treatment of the Bard's finest work which really poses all the questions raised on this site as Hamlet shatters the divide between illusion and reality.
