Nice piece of kit.
Are you using the HackRF in an urban, rural or industrial are? Are there any obvious military bases nearby? What type of antenna is it connected to? Can you disconnect the antenna and replace it with a matched (50 ohm?) load? This will determine which spikes are internally generated spurs. Touching the antenna (presumably it is untuned and broadband) will completely change its polar diagram and frequency response. Also, having the device set up to the wide frequency displays exposes the front end to all sorts of signals that mix inside the device and generate intermodulation/aliasing spurious signals. There will be various settings that help reduce overloading and mixing products, but I'm not familiar with that particular SDR receiver. I've got an RSP2 (1 kHz to 2 GHz), but it's full of spurs and I'm looking to get something better. This looks interesting... thermion |
