Default Attack in Nairobi Shopping Mall

At least 30 killed in Nairobi mall attack; one of suspected gunmen dead

The death toll grew to 30 people in Saturday attack by gunmen on an upscale shopping mall in the Kenyan capital, leading to a fierce gunbattle with police and a hostage standoff, authorities said.
...
One suspect was killed, said Kenyan official who did not want to be identified because of the sensitivity of the information. There were also 100 people injured, the official said.

Authorities say as many as 36 hostages are still being held by the gunmen in the mall, according to journalist Martin Cuddihy of the Australian Broadcasting Corp., who was at the scene and interviewed by CNN.

The Kenyan Red Cross reported 20 dead, though a government official, Joseph Ole Lenku, only confirmed 11.

Non-Muslims targeted in deadly attack on Nairobi mall, witness says

Gunmen threw grenades and opened fire Saturday killing at least 22 people in an attack targeting non-Muslims at an upscale mall in Kenya's capital that was hosting a children's day event, a Red Cross official and witnesses said.

The attackers remained inside and firing subsided as military surrounded the mall hours after the attack. People continued to trickle out from hiding places within the Westgate mall, which is frequented by expatriates and rich Kenyans in Nairobi's affluent Westlands neighborhood.

Kenya Red Cross official Abbas Gullet said at least 22 people were killed in the attack that police blamed on terrorists. He said the death toll would likely rise.

Somali's rebel group al-Shabab vowed in late 2011 to carry out a large-scale attack in Nairobi in retaliation for Kenya's sending of troops into Somalia to fight the Islamic insurgents.

Off duty Sgt. Major Frank Mugungu said Saturday he saw four male attackers and one female, and that he could clearly identify one of the gunmen as a Somali, though he could not identify the rest.

The Westgate mall, with shops like Nike, Adidas and Bose, has Israeli ownership, and security personnel have in the past identified the mall as a likely terror target in the city.

True and poignant.

Very sick vibrations when shit like this happens. I really hate it. Don't care if it's pissing down tomorrow, I'm off to have a chill-out and meditation in a nearby meadow and its little copse. It's the only place to go to get away from this shit for a couple of hours.

Strength to the murdered victim's families.

Truly sickening, more death and division. As though Africa hasn't had enough of it. I don't know who Al-Shabab are backed by but there is a history of them being in conflict in Somalia itself with the US backed AFRICOM. This is from 2010:

"As Islamic militants stepped up their assault on the U.S.-backed government in Somalia this week, U.S. Africa Command’s top officer said he is prepared, if called upon, to lend more support to the embattled Somali military."

"Al-Shabab continued to clash with Somali and African Union forces in a series of deadly battles on Wednesday, one day after the al-Qaida-linked group launched a brazen attack at a Mogadishu hotel that left more than 30 people dead, including several government officials."

"The surge in violence, denounced Tuesday by White House officials, comes at a time when the U.S. is looking for ways to beef up aid to Somalia’s fragile Transitional Federal Government and curb the growing influence of Islamic militants."

"AFRICOM provides training to some African Union forces who deploy to Somalia as part of a peacekeeping force that defends Somalia’s weak government from being toppled. However, Gen. William “Kip” Ward said AFRICOM also is prepared to provide that training directly to Somali troops."

Beside the pedopilot Simon Wood making news with his abuse at Nairobi orphanages, a couple other events occurred this past month in Kenya that may be more than they appear.

26 August 2013: Lieutenant Colonel David Parkinson, A former officer in the British army, who ran the nature reserve where Prince William supposedly proposed to Kate Middleton, is killed after reportedly being attacked by an armed gang at their Lolldaiga Hills cattle ranch in Nanyuki, Laikipia, Kenya. His wife – who had been tied up – manages to escape into a strongroom.

8 September 2013: Colonel Edward Loden, MC, Commander of soldiers involved in the Bloody Sunday massacre, is shot and killed during a robbery on holiday at his son’s home in Langata, Nairobi, Kenya. Nobody else was injured in the attack, which took place when a group of armed men forced their way into the compound.

7/7 and woolwich are directly related to that "terror" attack.
It's the same people being involved.

Death toll rises to 59 in terror attack on Kenya shopping mall

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2013/09...lls-10-people/

At least 59 people have died and 175 people have been injured after suspected members of an Al Qaeda-linked Somali militant group attacked an upscale shopping mall in Kenya's capital, Nairobi, Saturday.

Kenyan Cabinet Secretary of the Interior Joseph Ole Lenku, announced the updated figures in a press briefing shortly after noon local time Sunday. Lenku said that the government believed that between 10 and 15 gunmen were still inside the Westgate shopping mall and described the situation as "delicate."

The BBC weren't clear, but they did state Mi6 were probably 'assisting' too.

That aside, there are some notable parallels between this and the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

The message is certainly clear: 'Islam is evil'.

Hi

This is a pure rumour and can't see this happening.

A very small chance that they are providing guidance but doubt that as well.

These killers, they just create more tensions within the easily led.

Ordinary people don't make up the rules, its govs so why kill ordinary people

EG, the British gov was very eager to shoot a couple of rockets into Syria and usa do they rest. Thnakfully, the people of the uk spoke and said no. The MP's fearful for their seats in the next elections listens.

Just hope they kill all of the terrorists and actually go into other countries and take out their leaders as well.

Israeli forces enter Nairobi mall: security source

Nairobi. Israeli forces on Sunday joined Kenyan efforts to end a deadly siege by Somali militants at a Nairobi shopping mall, a security source told AFP.
"The Israelis have just entered and they are rescuing the hostages and the injured," the source told AFP on condition he not be named.
In Israel, foreign ministry spokesman Paul Hirschson refused to confirm or deny that its forces were involved.
"We don't make a habit of commenting on security cooperation of any kind that there may or may not be," he told AFP.
The attack on the part Israeli-owned upmarket mall has left at least 59 dead and around 200 wounded, Kenyan officials said.
The intervention came 26 hours after gunmen walked into the complex, tossing grenades and spraying gunfire at shoppers and staff.
Somalia's Al Qaeda-linked Shebab rebels have claimed responsibility for the attack.

There're reports that the Westgate hijackers are being led by a woman.

You may be right, bluebird. Don't believe in coincidence.

Nairobi Police chief Benson Kibue said the attack involved about 10 militants. A citizen told the media that a relative trapped in the mall had told her that the assault was led by a woman, who vowed not to surrender at all costs.
