Arrow Chemical Bound

Quote:
Homeward Bound is a song by American music duo Simon & Garfunkel from their 3rd studio album, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme (1966).. Produced by Bob Johnston, the song was released as a single on January 19, 1966 by Columbia Records. Written by Paul Simon, the song was composed in 1964 during his period in London, England.. Away from his love interest Kathy Chitty while touring clubs, Simon felt depressed and homesick.. He first penned the song on a scrap of paper outside the Widnes railway station in Widnes..Before the Industrial Revolution Widnes was made up of small settlements on marsh and moorland.. In 1847, the first chemical factory was established and the town rapidly became a major centre of the chemical industry.. The demand for labour was met by large-scale immigration from Ireland, Poland, Lithuania and Wales.. The town continues to be a major manufacturer of chemicals..Widnes and Hough Green train stations are on the Liverpool to Manchester line.. The main roads through the town are the A557 in a north–south direction and the A562 east–west.. The disused Sankey Canal terminates in an area known as Spike Island..Released January 19, 1966...

3 – Braniff Flight 352 crashes near Dawson, Texas, killing all 85 persons on board..At 16:11, the crew departed William P. Hobby Airport as Braniff Flight 352, a Lockheed L-188A Electra 4-engine turboprop, en route to Dallas-Love Field..Investigation revealed that the accident was caused by the captain's decision to penetrate an area of heavy weather followed by a structural over-stress and failure of the airframe while attempting recovery from loss of control during a steep 180 degree turn executed in an attempt to escape the weather.. ATC informed the crew that other flights in the area were deviating to the east and suggested they also deviate east, but the Electra crew insisted that the west seemed OK to them on their onboard weather radar:.As the crew attempted to recover from the ensuing steep diving turn, the aircraft experienced acceleration forces of over 4 g, which caused the right wing to fail.. The aircraft then broke up at an altitude of 6,750 feet and crashed in flames into the ground at about 16:48 It was carrying 5 crew and 80 passengers; there were no survivors..Rex Owen, a fireman from Mexia, Texas, was among nearly 100 volunteer rescue workers who went to the scene. "Voodoo Chile" is a song written by Jimi for the 3rd Hendrix Experience album Electric Ladyland..Released October 16-Recorded Record Plant Studios, New York City, May 2, 1968..

Music critic Charles Shaar Murray describes "Voodoo Chile" as "virtually a chronological guided tour of blues styles" ranging from early Delta blues, through the electric blues of Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker, to the more sophisticated style of B.B. King, and the "cosmic blurt" of John Coltrane..Lyrically, he adds, the song is "part of a long, long line of supernatural brag songs".. Hendrix's song opens with:

Well the night I was born, Lord I swear the moon turned a fire red (2×)
Well, my poor mother cried out, 'Lord, the gypsy was right', an' I see'd her fell down right dead

"Hoochie Coochie Man", the Muddy Waters/Willie Dixon blues classic, opens:

The gypsy woman told my mother, before I was born
'You got a boy child comin', goin' be a son of a gun' ...

In later verses, Hendrix, a fan of science fiction, adds references to "the outskirts of infinity" and "Jupiter's sulfur mines"...

The Dock of the Bay" is a song co-written by soul singer Otis Redding and guitarist Steve Cropper.. It was first recorded by Otis Redding in 1967, days before his death on December 10, 1967 in a plane crash in Wisconsin.. It was released posthumously on Stax Records' Volt label in 1968, becoming the first posthumous single to top the charts in the US.. It charted at number 3 on the UK Singles Chart...

Although the weather was poor, with heavy rain and fog and despite warnings, the plane took off.. Four miles from their destination at Truax Field in Madison, the pilot radioed for permission to land. Shortly thereafter, the plane crashed into Lake Monona. Bar-Kays member Ben Cauley, the accident's only survivor, was sleeping shortly before the accident.. He woke just before impact to see bandmate Phalon Jones look out a window and exclaim, "Oh, no!" Cauley said the last thing he remembered before the crash was unbuckling his seat belt. He then found himself in frigid water, grasping a seat cushion to keep afloat.. A non-swimmer, he was unable to rescue the others..The cause of the crash was never determined.. James Brown claimed in his autobiography, The Godfather of Soul, that he had warned Redding not to fly in the plane..The Beechcraft Model 18, or "Twin Beech", as it is better known, is a six- to 11-seat, twin-engined, low-wing, tailwheel aircraft manufactured by the Beech Aircraft Corporation of Wichita, Kansas..Redding's body was recovered the next day when the lake bed was searched.. The family postponed the funeral from December 15 to 18 so that more could attend..The song incorporates mimicked seagull whistles and sounds of the waves crashing on the shore...
