The UK acid scene initially played a variety of music and they got the idea from clubs in Ibiza who also played a variety of music, not just acid type beats, the wall to wall repetition only came latter.

The story is when he first played that Acid Trax at a house party people left the dancefloor, but when he played it another time people went mad to it, so why the change?

The UK track Garden of Eden, Serpent in the Garden is good or better depending on your mood lol and may be seen by some as 'occult symbolism' lol

That vids not working due to copyright violation is coming up when I try and play it, so it says. I am watching a program on BBC 1 called DRUGSLAND. this contradicts what I said in a previous post, it claims that MDMA is still available in UK. But I have read articles and seen another TV program that says that most MDMA today is not authentic or pure, so seems to be opposing information out there.

Everything now is controlled it will be hard for any really new movement to occur again like this.

In America rave spawned massive illegal out door raves in the 90's and this occurred also in Australia and other places around the world.
It was also a working-class thing, not exclusively, but it was a street thing. Now you get 'DJ courses' at performing arts colleges that cost a fair bit to study at.

Today you also got courses on "how to be a rock star" "how to be a guitar hero" "how to be a sound engineer" back in 50's 60's and 70's it was all self taught - it wasn't taught from courses, some perhaps learnt about sound engineering and music at school or university but there were few if any courses before the 80's.

Someone; a TV music pundit said the first year or perhaps 2 of the Acid House thing was the death of the "pop star" for a while it was just about mass dancing to a relatively faceless DJ - the Superstar DJ thing only came in a few years on once that original euphoria turned into career DJing.

Does this prove that this "grassroots movement" was created by the elite?

Just joshing.

But it goes to show, you never know who you're rubbing shoulders with at these events.

I was too young to go to clubs when this scene took off,
still love the music and my experiences during those years.

I was at a small club in Bournemouth in 1988 and I couldn't work out why when the DJ turned on the smoke machine the crowd rushed onto the floor, I later learned there was lots of amyl nitrate in the vapour

In May 1988 I was working I'n a warehouse in London just as Acid House was becoming more widespread. This guy who worked there asked me if I wanted to go to a club and try MDMA price £15. I agreed and he got us all a pill and we went to a club and it was totally mad, from that point it expanded to the big outdoor - illegal raves and.it was like a magical mystery tour!
