Rowf (a Labrador-mix) and Snitter (a smooth fox terrier) are two of many dogs used for experimental purposes at an animal research facility in the Lake District of north-western England. Snitter has had his brain experimented upon while Rowf has been drowned and resuscitated repeatedly.. One evening, Snitter squeezes under his cage and into Rowf's, where they discover his cage is unlatched. Eager to escape the tortures of life inside the facility, they explore, knocking over other cages and finally sneaking into the incinerator, where they are nearly killed before escaping..Initially relieved and eager to experience their new freedom, the dogs are soon faced not only with the realities of life in the wild but with another more terrifying realisation—they are being hunted by their former captors...

Revolver - Jake Green monolog

There is something about yourself that you don't know. Something that you will deny even exists, until it's too late to do anything about it. It's the only reason you get up in the morning. The only reason you suffer the shitty puss (boss), the blood, the sweat and the tears. This is because you want people to know how good, attractive, generous, funny, wild and clever you really are. Fear or revere me, but please, think I'm special. We share an addiction. We're approval junkies. We're all in it for the slap on the back and the gold watch. The hip-hip-hoo-fuckin' rah. Look at the clever boy with the badge, polishing his trophy. Shine on you crazy diamond, because we're just monkeys wrapped in suits, begging for the approval of others....

Somebody was telling me enthusedly about a film called "They Live" the other night. You can get it on You Tube apparently. David Icke knows about it and it was to be a big influence in his thinking. It is a precursor to "The Matrix" film and runs on similar lines. Made around 1974 it mysteriously vanished from screenings for some (sinister ?) reason.

Lightbulb Ghost of Mar-Ley

Quote:
A Christmas Carol is a novella by Charles Dickens.. It was first published in London by Chapman & Hall on 19 December 1843.. The novella met with instant success and critical acclaim.. Carol tells the story of a bitter old miser named Ebenezer Scrooge and his transformation into a gentler, kindlier man after visitations by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Yet to Come..Dickens was keenly touched by the lot of poor children in the middle decades of the 19th century.. In early 1843, he toured the Cornish tin mines, where he saw children working in appalling conditions.. The suffering he witnessed there was reinforced by a visit to the Field Lane Ragged School, one of several London schools set up for the education of the capital's half-starved, illiterate street children..In a fundraising speech on 5 October 1843, at the Manchester Athenæum, Dickens urged workers and employers to join together to combat ignorance with educational reform, and realised in the days following that the most effective way to reach the broadest segment of the population with his social concerns about poverty and injustice was to write a deeply felt Christmas narrative rather than polemical pamphlets and essays.. It was during his 3 days in Manchester that he conceived the plot of A Christmas Carol...

The tale begins on a "cold, bleak, biting" Christmas Eve exactly se7en years after the death of Scrooge's business partner Jacob Marley.. Scrooge, an old miser, is established within the first stave as "a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, old sinner!" He hates Christmas, calling it "humbug"; he refuses his nephew Fred's Christmas dinner invitation, and rudely turns away 2 gentlemen who seek a donation from him to provide a Christmas dinner for the poor.. His only "Christmas gift" is allowing his overworked, underpaid clerk Bob Cratchit Christmas Day off with pay – which he does only to keep with social custom, Scrooge considering it "a poor excuse for picking a man's pocket every 25th of December!"..Marley tells Scrooge that he will be visited by 3 spirits that night, and that he must listen to them or be cursed to carry chains of his own that are much longer than Marley's chains.. As Marley departs, Scrooge witnesses other restless spirits who now wish they could help their fellow man, but are powerless to do so. Scrooge is then visited by the three spirits Marley spoke of – each visit detailed in a separate stave – who accompany him on visits to various Christmas scenes..Before disappearing, the spirit shows Scrooge 2 hideous, emaciated children named Ignorance and Want..Following publication, Dickens arranged for the manuscript to be bound in red Morocco leather and presented as a gift to his solicitor, Thomas Mitton.. In 1875, Mitton sold the manuscript to bookseller Francis Harvey reportedly for £50 (equal to £4,100 today), who sold it to autograph collector, Henry George Churchill, in 1882, who, in turn, sold the manuscript to Bennett, a Birmingham bookseller.. Bennett sold it for £200 to Robson and Kerslake of London, which sold it to Dickens collector Stuart M. Samuel for £300.. Finally, it was purchased by J. Pierpont Morgan for an undisclosed sum.. It is now held by the Pierpont Morgan Library, New York.. 4 expensive, hand-coloured etchings and 4 black and white wood engravings by John Leech accompanied the text..

The need for a new asylum in the Dunedin area was created by the Otago gold rush expansion of the city, and triggered by the inadequacy of the Littlebourne Mental Asylum.. In 1875, the Provincial Council decided to build a new structure on "a reserve of fine land at Brinn's Point, north of Port Chalmers".. Initial work was begun in the "dense trackless forest" in 1878, though the Director of the Geological Survey criticised the site location, because he felt that the hillside was unstable..A nuclear chain reactionoccurs when one single nuclear reaction causes an average of one or more subsequent nuclear reactions, thus leading to the possibility of a self-propagating series of these reactions..The asylum was less than 20 miles north of Dunedin and close to the county centre of Palmerston, in an isolated coastal spot within a forested reserve..1942 (MCMXLII) was a common year starting on Thursday of the Gregorian calendar (dominical letter D), the 1942nd year of the Common Era Motorley ley ley...

"must have" movies? I'm absolutely stumped. It's like "must have" forms of gastric ulcers.

Smile Deadley Nightshade

Her puzzlement turns into terror as the tomato draws her into a corner..The tomato is the edible, often red fruit/berry of the nightshade Solanum lycopersicum, commonly known as a tomato plant..Carefully dot the tomato pips...

Odd Thomas
Storyline:

Small-town fry cook Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin - Chekhov from new Star Trek film) is an ordinary guy with a paranormal secret: he sees dead people, everywhere. When a creepy stranger shows-up with an entourage of ghostly bodachs - predators who feed on pain and portend mass destruction - Odd knows that his town is in serious trouble. Teaming up with his sweetheart Stormy (Addison Timlin) and the local sheriff (Willem Dafoe), Odd plunges into an epic battle of good vs evil to try to stop a disaster of apocalyptic proportions. Based on the best-selling thriller by Dean Koontz.

Anyone who has read Icke will recognise the bodachs straight away for what they are, interesting film.

After pulling a bank heist in Mexico, the outlaw Rio (Marlon Brando) and his partner, Dad Longworth (Karl Malden), make a run for it, but Dad has bigger plans than freedom. He betrays Rio and absconds with the loot, and Rio ends up in prison. Years pass before Rio finally breaks free to enact his long-plotted revenge. Tracking Dad to California, Rio learns he's become a sheriff -- which is no deterrent -- but when Rio falls for Dad's stepdaughter, Louisa (Pina Pellicer), he has second thoughts
