The city of Rio de Janeiro proper was founded by the Portuguese on 1 March 1565 and was named São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro, in honour of St. Sebastian, the saint who was the namesake and patron of the then Portuguese Monarch D. Sebastião. Rio de Janeiro was the name of Guanabara Bay..The city was initially the seat of the Captaincy of Rio de Janeiro, a domain of the Portuguese Empire.. Later, in 1763, it became the capital of the State of Brazil, a state of the Portuguese Empire.. In 1808, when the Portuguese Royal Court transferred itself from Portugal to Brazil, Rio de Janeiro became the chosen seat of the court of Queen Maria I of Portugal, who subsequently, in 1815, under the leadership of her son, the Prince Regent, and future King João VI of Portugal, raised Brazil to the dignity of a kingdom, within the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil, and Algarves..Rio de Janeiro is twinned with Guimarães, Portugal/Istanbul, Turkey/Jerusalem,Israel/Miami Beach, Florida, US/Warsaw, Poland/Natal, Brazil/Liverpool, UK/Kiev, Ukraine Whats Up Adolfo !..Liberation for Women..Thats what I preach Preacher man...

Lightbulb Jubilee Plot

Part 1 of 6..
Quote:
On 20 June 1887 she had breakfast outdoors under the trees at Frogmore, where Prince Albert had been buried.. She then travelled by train from Windsor Castle to Paddington then to Buckingham Palace for a royal banquet that evening.. Fifty foreign kings and princes, along with the governing heads of Britain's overseas colonies and dominions, attended.. She wrote in her diary..

Westminster Abbey, 21 June 1887..

Had a large family dinner.. All the Royalties assembled in the Bow Room, and we dined in the Supper-room, which looked splendid with the buffet covered with the gold plate..The table was a large horseshoe one, with many lights on it..

The King of Denmark took me in, and Willy of Greece sat on my other side.. The Princes were all in uniform, and the Princesses were all beautifully dressed.. Afterwards we went into the Ballroom, where my band played..

The following day, she participated in a procession in an open landau through London to Westminster Abbey escorted by Colonial Indian cavalry..

At the Jubilee she engaged two Indian Muslims as waiters, one of whom was Abdul Karim.. He was soon promoted to Munshi and taught her Urdu, and acted as a clerk..Her family and retainers were appalled, and accused Abdul Karim of spying for the Muslim Patriotic League, and biasing the Queen against the Hindus.. Equerry Frederick Ponsonby (the son of Sir Henry) discovered that the Munshi had lied about his background, and reported to Lord Elgin, Viceroy of India, "the Munshi occupies very much the same position as John Brown used to do.". Victoria dismissed their complaints as racial prejudice..Abdul Karim remained in her service until he returned to India with a pension on her death..In 1887, the famous 'pie village' of Denby Dale, home to the Denby Dale Pie Company, created a pie to commemorate the event.. It would then spoil, with a second baked a week later, becoming known as the Resurrection Pie..Black Elk, Queen Kapiʻolani and Crown Princess Liliʻuokalani took part in her Golden Jubilee..As part of the Jubilee year the First Colonial Conference was held in London..In Malta, the town of Rabato was promoted to a city named "Victoria" on 10 June on the occasion of the Jubilee...

Lightbulb Her Royal Highness

Princess Margaret of Snowden..
Quote:
Margaret spent much of her childhood years in the company of her older sister and parents.. Her life changed dramatically in 1936, when her paternal uncle, King Edward VIII, abdicated to marry the twice divorced American Wallis Simpson..Princess Margaret began her royal duties at an early age.. She attended the silver jubilee of her grandparents, King George V and Queen Mary, aged 5 in 1935. She later attended her parents' coronation in 1937..At the outbreak of World War II, Margaret and her sister were at Birkhall, on the Balmoral Castle estate, where they stayed until Christmas 1939, enduring nights so cold that drinking water in carafes by their bedside froze..Following the end of the war in 1945, Margaret appeared on the balcony at Buckingham Palace with her family and Prime Minister Winston Churchill.. Her first major royal tour occurred when she joined her parents and sister for a tour of South Africa in 1947..Her twenty-first birthday party was held at Balmoral in August 1951.. Her father died 5 months later, in February 1952, and her sister became queen..I would like it to be known that I have decided not to marry Group Captain Peter Townsend.. Her tour aboard Britannia to the British colonies in the Caribbean in 1955 created a sensation throughout the West Indies, and calypsos were dedicated to her.. Margaret's early life was spent primarily at the Yorks' residences at 145 Piccadilly (their town house in London) or Royal Lodge in Windsor..Margaret married the photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones at Westminster Abbey on 6 May 1960..In 1961, the Princess's husband was created Earl of Snowdon, whereupon she became formally styled HRH The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon..The couple had two children (both born by Caesarean section at Margaret's request)..The marriage widened Princess Margaret's social circle beyond the Court and aristocracy to include show business celebrities and bohemians, and was seen at the time as reflecting the breakdown of class barriers..The Snowdons experimented with the styles and fashions of the 1960s...

Princess Margaret and the Earl of Snowdon with the US president Lyndon B. Johnson and his wife Lady Bird at the White House on 17 November 1965..

As colonies of the British Commonwealth of Nations sought nationhood, Princess Margaret represented the Crown at independence ceremonies in Jamaica in 1962 and Tuvalu and Dominica in 1978.. Her visit to Tuvalu was cut short after an illness, which may have been viral pneumonia, and she was flown to Australia to recuperate.. Other overseas tours included the US in 1963, Japan in 1969 and 1979, the US and Canada in 1974, Australia in 1975, the Philippines in 1980, Swaziland in 1981.. In January , Margaret was a guest on the BBC Radio 4 programme Desert Island Discs..During an official visit to Copenhagen, Denmark, in 1964, she was allegedly bugged by the KGB..Reportedly, her first extramarital affair took place in 1966, with her daughter's godfather, Bordeaux wine producer Anthony Barton, and a year later she had a one-month liaison with Robin Douglas-Home, a nephew of British politician Alec Douglas-Home..Margaret claimed that her relationship with Douglas-Home was platonic, but her letters to him (which were later sold) were intimate.. Douglas-Home, a depressive, committed suicide 18 months after the split with Margaret.. Claims that she was romantically involved with musician Mick Jagger, actor Peter Sellers, and Australian cricketer Keith Miller are unproven..The entertainer Leslie Hutchinson, who was 30 years older than Margaret, is believed by Charlotte Breese, his biographer, to have had a "brief liaison" with Margaret in 1955..By the early 1970s, the Snowdons had drifted apart..It was the first of several visits. Margaret described their relationship as "a loving friendship"..They were actually a collection of storerooms and workshops run by Leslie Jagger, who worked under Hugh Winterborn in A2..Jagger always wore a black undertaker's suit..Jagger was the MI5 odd-job technical man..

Gin a Shoots Tony- Scarface (7/8)..

Once, when Llewellyn left on an impulsive trip to Turkey, Margaret became emotionally distraught and took an overdose of sleeping tablets.. "I was so exhausted because of everything that all I wanted to do was sleep"..The Princess's later life was marred by illness and disability.. She had smoked cigarettes since at least the age of 15 and had continued to smoke heavily for many years.. On 5 January 1985 she had part of her left lung removed; the operation drew parallels with that of her father over 30 years earlier..Another overseas tour in China in 87.. In 91 she quit smoking, though she continued to drink heavily..In January 93 she was admitted to hospital for pneumonia. She experienced a mild stroke in 98 at her holiday home in Mustique.. Early in the following year the Princess suffered severe scalds to her feet in a bathroom Incident..In January and March 2001, further strokes were diagnosed, which had left her with partial vision and paralysis on the left side..Princess Margaret died in the King Edward VII Hospital, London, on 9 February 2002 at the age of 71 after suffering another stroke..Her funeral was held on 15 February 2002—the 50th anniversary of her father's funeral..Her ashes were placed in the tomb of her parents, in the King George VI Memorial Chapel in St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, two months later..A state memorial service was held at Westminster Abbey on 19 April 2002..She is portrayed silently in the second series première of Ashes to Ashes..Colonel-in-Chief of the Women's Royal Australian Army Corps-Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corp-Honorary Air Commodore, Royal Air Force Coningsby..Japan: Grand Cordon of the Order of the Precious Crown.."You never know, when you might need a key again..This is the one you'll have to deal with most often."..He picked up a demonstration Y ale mechanism..Course, what you do inside is your business...

Merlin prophesies for Vortigern, from a manuscript of Geoffrey..
Quote:
Geoffrey of Monmouth (Latin: Galfridus Monemutensis, Galfridus Arturus, Welsh: Gruffudd ap Arthur, Sieffre o Fynwy) (c. 1100 – c. 1155) was a Welsh cleric and a major figure in the development of British historiography and the popularity of tales of King Arthur.. He is best known for his chronicle Historia Regum Britanniae ("History of the Kings of Britain"), which was widely popular in its day and was credited, uncritically, well into the 16th century, being translated into various other languages from its original Latin, but which is now considered historically unreliable..Geoffrey was probably born some time between 1100 and 1110 in Wales or the Welsh Marches..A Marcher Lord (Welsh: Barwn y Mers) was a noble appointed by the King of England to guard the border (known as the Welsh Marches) between England and Wales..Geoffrey and the Lancelot-Grail Cycle have Mordred being succeeded by his sons..Stories always number them as two..

Excalibur Battle O- Fortuna..

Earlier scholars assumed that Geoffrey was Welsh or at least spoke Welsh..Geoffrey's knowledge of the Welsh language appears to have been slight however, and it is now recognised that there is no real evidence that Geoffrey was of either Welsh or Cambro-Norman descent, unlike for instance, Gerald of Wales.. He may have sprung from the same French-speaking elite of the Welsh border country as the writers Gerald of Wales and Walter Map, and Robert, Earl of Gloucester, to whom Geoffrey dedicated versions of his Historia Regum Britanniae..It has been argued, by Frank among others, that Geoffrey's parents may have been among the many Bretons who took part in William I's Conquest and settled in the southeast of Wales..Monmouth had been in the hands of Breton lords since 1075 or 1086 and the names Galfridus and Arthur (if interpreted as a patronymic) were more common among the Bretons than the Welsh..He may have served for a while in a Benedictine priory..He was probably a secular canon of St. George's college.. All the charters signed by Geoffrey are also signed by Walter, Archdeacon of Oxford, also a canon at that church..Another frequent co-signatory is Ralph of Monmouth, a canon of Lincoln..A canon (from the Latin canonicus, itself derived from the Greek κανονικός, kanonikós, "relating to a rule", "regular") is a member of certain bodies subject to an ecclesiastical rule..16mm cameras-Scoopic 16 (1965)..A cannon (plural: cannon or cannons) is any piece of artillery that uses gunpowder or other usually explosive-based propellants to launch a Projectyle..

Canto XXXII..

Geoffrey wrote several works of interest, all in Latin, the language of learning and literature in Europe during the medieval period.. His major work was the Historia Regum Britanniae (History of the Kings of Britain), the work best known to modern readers.. It relates the purported history of Britain, from its first settlement by Brutus, a descendant of the Trojan hero Aeneas, to the da'ath of Cadwallader in the 7th century, taking in Julius Caesar's invasions of Britain, two kings, Leir and Cymbeline, later immortalised by William Shakespeare, and one of the earliest developed narratives of King Arthur..Geoffrey claims in his dedication that the book is a translation of an "ancient book in the British language that told in orderly fashion the deeds of all the kings of Britain", given to him by Walter, Archdeacon of Oxford..The earliest of Geoffrey's writings to appear was probably the Prophetiae Merlini (Prophecies of Merlin), which he wrote at some point before 1135, and which appears both independently and incorporated into the Historia Regum Britanniae. It consists of a series of obscure prophetic utterances attributed to Merlin, which Geoffrey claimed to have translated from an unspecified language..The third work attributed to Geoffrey is another hexameter poem Vita Merlini ("Life of Merlin").. The Vita is based much more closely on traditional material about Merlin than are the other works; here he is known as Merlin of the Woods Merlinus Sylvestris) or Scottish Merlin (Merlinus Caledonius), and is portrayed as an old man living as a crazed and grief-stricken outcast in the forest...

Lightbulb Matthew Parisian

The Stranglers- Paradise ..
Quote:
Matthew Paris, known as Matthew of Paris (Latin: Matthæus Parisiensis, lit. "Matthew the Parisian"; c. 1200 – 1259), was a Benedictine monk, English chronicler, artist in illuminated manuscripts and cartographer, based at St Albans Abbey..The first we know of Matthew Paris (from his own writings) is that he was admitted as a monk to St Albans in 1217..He wrote a number of works, mostly historical, which he scribed and illuminated himself..Some were written in Latin, some in Anglo-Norman or French verse..His Chronica Majora is an oft-cited source, though modern historians recognise that Paris was not always reliable.. He tended to glorify Emperor Frederick II and denigrate the Pope..In spite of his surname and knowledge of the French language, Paris was of English birth, and is believed by some chroniclers to be of the Paris family of Hildersham, Cambridgeshire..He may have studied at Paris in his youth after early education at St Albans School..He has said that an early reading of Animal Farm made him a Conservative, as "An admiration for [the pigs'] intelligence and sense of order dawned in me"..

From 1235, the point at which Wendover dropped his pen, Paris continued the history on the plan which his predecessors had followed.. He derived much of his information from the letters of important people, which he sometimes inserts, but much more from conversation with the eyewitnesses of events.. Among his informants were Richard, Earl of Cornwall and King Henry III, with whom he appears to have been on intimate terms..The king knew that Paris was writing a history, and wanted it to be as exact as possible..In 1248, Paris was sent to Norway as the bearer of a message from Louis IX to Haakon IV; he made himself so agreeable to the Norwegian sovereign that he was invited to superintend the reformation of the Benedictine Nidarholm Abbey outside Trondheim.. In 1257, in the course of a week's visit to St Albans, Henry kept the chronicler beside him night and day,"and guided my pen," says Paris, "with much goodwill and diligence."..Paris lived at a time when English politics were extremely involved.. Like most "historians" of the period, he never pauses to weigh the evidence or to take a comprehensive view of the situation.. His chronology is, for a contemporary, inexact; and he occasionally inserts duplicate versions of the same incident in different places.. Hence he must be rigorously checked when other authorities exist and used with caution where he is our sole informant...Paris House at St Albans High School for Girls is named after him..Parris is now a radio and TV presenter and pundit..As an MP he took part in a World in Action documentary during 1984 requiring him to live in Newcastle for a week on £26.80, the then state social security payment set for a single adult by the government he supported as a Conservative..

William de Braose (c. 1197 – 2 May 1230) was the son of Reginald de Braose by his first wife, Grecia Briwere.. He was an ill-fated member of a powerful and long-lived dynasty of Marcher Lords..Born in Brecon, probably between 1197\1204..The Welsh, who detested him and his family name, called him Gwilym Ddu, Black William.. He succeeded his father in his various lordships in 1227, including Abergavenny and Buellt..He was captured by the Welsh forces of Prince Llywelyn the Great, in fighting in the commote of Ceri near Montgomery, in 1228.. William was ransomed for the sum of £2,000 and then furthermore made an alliance with Llywelyn, arranging to marry his daughter Isabella de Braose to Llywelyn's only legitimate son Dafydd ap Llywelyn.. However, it became known that William had committed adultery with Llywelyn's wife, Joan, Lady of Wales, and Braose was transported to Wales.. The marriage planned between their two children did, however, take place..Llywelyn had William publicly hanged on 2 May 1230,possibly at Crogen, near Bala, though others believe the hanging took place near Llywelyn's palace at Abergwyngregyn..With William's da'at by hanging and his having four daughters, who divided the de Braose inheritance between them and no male heir, the titles now passed to the junior branch of the de Braose dynasty..The News International phone-hacking scandal is a controversy involving the now defunct News of the World and other British newspapers published by News International, a subsidiary of the then News Corporation..Rambo, this is Murdock..Where the hell are you?.Give us your position and we'll come to pick you up!..Why do you wanna fight? ..

Lightbulb Old North

Tribes of Wales at the time of the Roman invasion.
Quote:
The Kingdom of Ceredigion was one of several Welsh kingdoms that emerged in 5th-century post-Roman Britain.. Its area corresponded roughly to that of the modern county of Ceredigion..The kingdom's hilly geography made it difficult for foreign invaders to conquer.. Cardigan Bay bordered to the west. Ceredigion transparently means "the people of Ceredig."..Ceredig ap Cunedda (died 453), king of Ceredigion, may have been born c. 420 in the Brythonic kingdom of Manaw Gododdin (modern Lothian in Scotland), centred on the Firth of Forth in the area known as Yr Hen Ogledd.. Little is known of him.. One of the sons of Cunedda, grandfather of Saint David, according to tradition, he arrived in what is now modern Wales from Gododdin with his father's family when they were invited to help ward off Irish invaders.. As a reward for his bravery, his father gave him the southernmost part of the territories in north-west Wales reconquered from the Irish. The realm is traditionally supposed to have been called Ceredigion after him..Ceredig had a daughter named Ina who is thought to be the Saint Ina to whom St Ina's Church in Llanina near New Quay, is dedicated...

Ceredigion..

The organisation of the Men of the North was tribal, based on kinship groups of extended families, owing allegiance to a dominant "royal" family, sometimes indirectly through client relationships, and receiving protection in return.. For Celtic peoples, this organisation was still in effect hundreds of years later, as shown in the Irish Brehon law, the Welsh Laws of Hywel Dda, and the Scottish Laws of the Brets and Scots.. The Germanic Anglo-Saxon law had culturally different origins, but with many similarities to Celtic law..Like Celtic law, it was based on cultural tradition, without any perceivable debt to the Roman occupation of Britain..Adam of Usk (Welsh: Adda o Frynbuga) (c. 1352 – 1430) was a Welsh priest, canonist, and late medieval historian and chronicler..

Yr Hen Ogledd in English the Old North, is the region of Northern England and the southern Scottish Lowlands inhabited by Celtic Britons during the post-Roman period and the Early Middle Ages.. Its denizens spoke a variety of the Brittonic language known as Cumbric.. The Hen Ogledd was distinct from the parts of northern Britain inhabited by the Picts, Anglo-Saxons, and Scots as well as from Wales, although the region loomed large in Welsh literature and tradition for centuries after its kingdoms had disappeared..The major kingdoms of the Hen Ogledd were Elmet in western Yorkshire; Gododdin in Lothian and the Scottish Borders; Rheged, centred in Cumbria; and Strathclyde situated around the Firth of Clyde.. Smaller kingdoms or districts included Aeron, Calchfynydd, Eidyn, Lleuddiniawn, and Manaw; the latter 3 were evidently parts of Gododdin..The Angle kingdoms of Deira and Bernicia both had Brittonic-derived names, suggesting they may have been Brittonic kingdoms in origin.. All the kingdoms of the Old North except Strathclyde were conquered by Angles and Picts by about 800; Strathclyde was incorporated into the rising Kingdom of Scotland in the 11th century..The legacy of the Hen Ogledd remained strong in Wales.. Welsh tradition included genealogies of the Gwŷr y Gogledd, or Men of the North, and several important Welsh dynasties traced their lineage to them..

Ceredigion is a coastal county, bordered by Cardigan Bay to the west, Gwynedd to the north, Powys to the east, Carmarthenshire to the south and Pembrokeshire to the south-west..The main settlements are Aberaeron, Aberporth, Aberystwyth, Borth, Cardigan, Lampeter, Llanarth, Llanddewi Brefi, Llandysul, Llanilar, Llanrhystud, Llanon, New Quay, and Tregaron.. The largest of these are Aberystwyth and Cardigan..The Kingdom of Ceredigion was one of several Welsh kingdoms that emerged in 5th-century post-Roman Britain. Its area corresponded roughly to that of the modern county of Ceredigion.. The kingdom's hilly geography made it difficult for foreign invaders to conquer.. Cardigan Bay bordered to the west. Ceredigion transparently means "the people of Ceredig."..In pre-Roman, and possibly Roman times, a part of southern Ceredigion was in the territory of the Demetae and possibly part of that of the Ordovices..In the 70s, the Ordovices rebelled against Roman occupation and destroyed a cavalry squadron.. This act of war provoked an equally strong response from Agricola, who, according to Tacitus, exterminated the whole tribe.. No other mention of the tribe appears in the historical records, but in view of the mountainous terrain of the lands of the Ordovices it is questionable whether Agricola could have wiped out the entire population..The Celtic name ordo-wik- could have a meaning in some way related to the word for "hammer"; Irish 'Ord', Welsh 'Gordd' (with a G- prothetic) and Breton 'Horzh' (with a H- prothetic), all of which mean hammer"...

Arrow Rhiannon

You're just a voice on the phone..
Quote:
Stevie discovered Rhiannon in the early 70's through a novel called Triad, by Mary Bartlet Leader.. The novel is about a woman named Branwen, who is possessed by another woman named Rhiannon.. There is mention of the Welsh legend of Rhiannon in the novel, but the characters in the novel bear little resemblance to their original Welsh namesakes..Nicks bought the novel in an airport just before a long flight and thought the name was so pretty that she wanted to write something about a girl named Rhiannon.. She wrote "Rhiannon" in 1974, 3 months before joining Fleetwood Mac, while living with Richard Dashut & Lindsey Buckingham in Malibu, and has claimed that it took 10 minutes to write..Narberth (Welsh: Arberth) is a town and community in Pembrokeshire, southwest Wales..

Fleetwood Mac 76..

Rhiannon is a major and classic figure in the earliest prose literature and mythology of Britain, the Mabinogi.. This is a set of tales classified as Celtic or British mythology, Welsh literature, Welsh mythology.. This earliest prose literature of Britain was compiled c. 1100 in mediaeval Wales from earlier oral traditions.. It is culturally prominent in literary, mythological or Welsh circles today, known worldwide in English translations..The Mabinogi is made up of Four Branches, or nodes..It is published on its own but also forms part of a larger collection known of the Mabinogion based on an old mediaeval scribal error in the original manuscripts..The title covers a collection of 11 prose stories of widely different types..

Rhiannon riding in Arberth..

Lady Charlotte Elizabeth Guest (née Bertie; 19 May 1812 – 15 January 1895), later Lady Charlotte Schreiber, was an English aristocrat who is best known as the first publisher in modern print format of The Mabinogion which is the earliest prose literature of Britain..It appears that Lady Charlotte’s upbringing met the standards that society had held for her classes.. She learnt various skills, such as singing and dancing. As she came from a well-off family, the Berties, it is clear that public school was not a success.. Some members of the family were bullied, for example Lindsey, so he was swiftly taken out of school and a tutor came once again.. It appears that Lady Charlotte did not have any close friends and if any she was closest to the O’Brien sisters..Her dedication to trying to improve education can also be seen in the library that was constructed in the mid-1840s..Dowlais Ironworks was a major 19th-century ironworks located near Merthyr Tydfil, one of the 4 main ironworks in Merthyr - the other 3 were Cyfarthfa, Plymouth & Penydarren Ironworks..Charlotte Guest took assisted management of Dowlais Ironworks after the darth of her husband John Guest in 1852.. She along with G. T. Clark and Edward Divett would become executors and trustees of the Ironworks.. As a result of this Lady Guest would be sole trustee while a widow but she remarried in 1855 to Charles Schreblier and de facto control fell to Clark although there is reports that she gave up running the iron works, and instead travelled and assembled an impressive ceramics collection which she bequeathed to the Victoria and Albert Museum.. She bore 10 children..During her life she had many suitors..She also collected fans, board games and playing cards, which she donated to the British Museum.. Guest was again widowed, and lived on to an advanced age.. In her last few years she was unable to continue the journal she had written almost without a break since she was 10 years old, as she became blind..Guest, with her contemporary and friend Lady Llanover, was a patron of the arts in Wales..Lady Llanover was born near Abergavenny, the youngest daughter of Benjamin Waddington of Ty Uchaf, Llanover and his wife, Georgina Port.. She was the heiress to the Llanover estate in Monmouthshire..The word "ceramic comes from the Greek word κεραμικός (keramikos), "of pottery" or "for pottery", from κέραμος (keramos), "potter's clay, tile, pottery"..You can't break something that's already broken...

Lightbulb Igraine

So the child was delivered unto Merlin, and so he bare it forth...
Quote:
In Arthurian legend, Igraine is the mother of King Arthur.. She is also known in Latin as Igerna, in Welsh as Eigyr, in French as Igerne, in Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur as Ygrayne- often modernized as Igraine—and in Wolfram von Eschenbach's Parzival as Arnive.. She becomes the wife of Uther Pendragon, but her first husband was Gorlois; her daughters by Gorlois are Elaine, Morgause and Morgan le Fay...

One from the earth, deep under the ground..The whole, a mark of high renown.. Tell me, what can it be?..http://forum.davidicke.com/showpost....0&postcount=42

Arrow Morgan le Fay

By Frederick Sandys (1864)..
Quote:
Morgan le Fay is a powerful enchantress in the Arthurian legend.. Early works featuring Morgan do not elaborate her character beyond her role as a fay or sorceress, in particular in cyclical prose works such as the Lancelot-Grail and the Post-Vulgate Cycle, in which she turns into a dangerous arch-enemy of King Arthur and an antagonist of some tales, she was a healer and an enchantress, the eldest of nine sisters..Her character may be partially derived from that of the Welsh goddess Modron..She is often said to be the daughter of Arthur's mother Lady Igraine and her first husband Gorlois, so that Arthur, the son of Igraine and Uther Pendragon, is her half-brother...She becomes an apprentice of Merlin and a vindictive adversary of Arthur and the knights of the Round Table , with a special hatred for his wife Queen Guinevere..She is also wanton and sexually aggressive, with many lovers including Merlin and Accolon, and an unrequited love for Lancelot..

Igrayne's Dance - Excalibur..

Modron largely features in the Welsh tradition as a supernatural mother figure.. She likely derives from the Celtic goddess Matrona, known to have been worshiped in Gaul.. Similarly, Modron's son, Mabon ("youth"), appears to derive from the youth god Maponos.. Both Matrona and Maponos were worshiped in the area around Hadrian's Wall, which may account for the prominence of Modron and Mabon in literature connected to the Brittonic Hen Ogledd (Old North) of Britain..Certain elements of Modron's story – specifically that her son Mabon was stolen from her in the night as a baby – suggest a connection with Rhiannon in the First Branch of the Mabinogi, whose son Pryderi was similarly stolen;William John Gruffydd suggested that Modron and Rhiannon were the same in origin.. John T. Koch suggests that Saint Madrun, a daughter of Vortimer, may also be connected, based on the similarity of the names and some elements of their stories.. Other scholars believe the names Modron and Madrun are likely to be etymologically distinct; Madrun comes from the Vulgar Latin name Matrōna (also a common noun matrōna "matron", from Classical Latin mātrōna), while Modron is from the Gallo-Brittonic theonym *Mātronā "Mother (goddess)"..In Triad 70, Modron is the mother of the twins Owain and Morfudd by Urien Rheged..In Celtic mythology, Dea Matrona ("divine mother goddess") was the goddess who gives her name to the river Marne (ancient Matrŏna) in Gaul..In many areas, such Matronae were depicted in groups of 3 or sometimes 2..In ancient Celtic religion, Maponos or Maponus ("Great Son") known mainly in northern Britain but also in Gaul.. In Roman times he was equated with Apollo.."Three Blessed Womb-Burdens of the Island of Britain..The head of Medusa is featured on some regional symbols.. One example is that of the flag and emblem of Sicily, together with the 3 legged trinacria..Gorgons, 3 monstrous sea spirits..

Medusa Clash of the Titans 1981..

The earliest spelling of the name (Vita Merlini) is Morgen, which is likely derived from Old Welsh or Old Breton Morgen, meaning "Sea-born"; a cognate form in Old Irish is Muirgein, the name of a Christian, shape-shifting female saint who was associated with the sea).. Lí Ban (from Old Irish lí, meaning "beauty", and ban, meaning "of women"..As her epithet "le Fay" (from the French la fée, "the fairy") connected to the myths of Morgens (or Morgans) which are Welsh and Breton water spirits..The Morrígan is primarily associated with fate, especially with foretelling doom and darth in battle likened to the Valkyries and Norns..She masters se7en arts and goes on to specialize in astronomie (astronomy and astrology) and healing ..A recently discovered moralistic manuscript written in Anglo-Norman French is the only text in medieval Arthurian literature presented as being composed by Morgan herself..She is also mentioned in the Draco Normannicus, in which Arthur criticizes Henry for invading Brittany and claims that he has been healed of his wounds and made immortal by his "da'atless nymph" sister Morgan on Avalon..Lancelot is Morgan's prime object of sexual desire but he consistently refuses her obsessive advances due to his great love of Guinevere, even as Morgan either courts, drugs, enchants and imprisons the knight on several occasions..One tale has Lancelot captured in Cart Castle (Charyot) by her and two other lustful enchantress, Queen Sebile (Sedile) and the unnamed Queen of Sorestan, each of whom wants to make him her lover, but he refuses to choose and escapes with a help of one of their maidservants, Rocedon..Sebile and Morgan are close companions, working their magic together..There is another Hector in Arthurian legend, Sir Ector, the father of Sir Kay and foster father of King Arthur..In the Post-Vulgate Queste, Morgan concentrates on witchcraft to such degree that she goes to live in seclusion in the exile of far-away forests.. Morgan le Fay, or Fata Morgana in Italian, has been associated with Sicily at least since the Norman conquest of southern Italy..A Fata Morgana is an unusual and complex form of superior mirage that is seen in a narrow band right above the horizon...

Arrow The Welsh Tract

Weinberg: Symphony No. 16, Op. 131..
Quote:
Tredyffrin is governed by a se7en-member Board of Supervisors..Unincorporated communities within Tredyffrin Township include Chesterbrook, Strafford, a portion of Paoli, and a portion of Wayne, Howellville (intersection of Swedesford and Howellville Roads) and East Howellville (along Howellville Road, west of the intersection of Howellville Road and the border between Tredyffrin and Easttown Townships)..On 13 March 1684, William Penn decided to set aside a portion of Pennsylvania for the Welsh to settle in..As the population of the township grew, with 30 resident landowners in 1722 and 83 in 1774, churches sprung up to meet the demand by religious residents..The Roberts and other Welsh families became influential in the area, through the building of mills and the eventual introduction of the railroad.. It is the railroad that gives the best-known part of the area its current name - the Main Line, referring to the main track of the now-defunct Pennsylvania Railroad..Paoli is a census-designated place in Chester County near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US..It is situated in portions of 2 townships: Tredyffrin and Willistown..

Perseus turns Phineus and his followers to stone..

On the evening of September 20, 1777, near Paoli, General Charles Grey and nearly 5,000 British soldiers launched a surprise attack on a small regiment of Patriot troops commanded by General Anthony Wayne in what becomes known as the Paoli Massacre..With the help of a Loyalist spy who provided a secret password and led them to the camp, General Grey and the British launched the successful attack on the unsuspecting men of the Pennsylvania regiment, stabbing them to darth..Before it was over, nearly 200 Americans were killed or wounded..The Paoli Massacre became a rallying cry for the Americans against British atrocities for the rest of the Revolutionary War..The Welsh Tract, also called the Welsh Barony, was a portion of Pennsylvania settled largely by Welsh-speaking Quakers..Much confusion has been caused by different renditions of the composer's names..Have you ever seen blood in the moonlight, Will?. It appears quite black..The plot of the tragedy of Isis is loosely adapted from one of the episodes in O-vid's Metamorphoses...

There are at least ten places in Wales that have Malvern as part of their name..Wellington St, Aberaeron-Carway, Kidwelly-Penparc, Cardigan-The Beacon, Rosemarket, Milford Haven-Rhostrehwfa, Llangefni, Isle of Anglesey..Close to the Welsh border in England, Malvern was originally settled by Welsh settlers in the 1600s.. William Penn sold them the land for ten cents an acre, along with the rest of the land on the Welsh tract, or the Main Line..Malvern was incorporated as a borough in 1889, from portions of Willistown Township..Malvern is the last stop of the original Main Line railroad into Philadelphia. Today, the railroad has expanded several more stations west of Malvern, but none are associated with the Main Line, and Malvern is still considered the end of the Main Line..In 1934 a negotiated settlement was reached whereby the schools remained integrated, and helped kill school segregation in Pennsylvania..During the Cold War, a Nike anti-aircraft missile site was active in the township..Project Nike, (Greek: Νίκη, "Victory"), was a U.S. Army project, proposed in May 1945 by Bell Laboratories, to develop a line-of-sight anti-aircraft missile system..A more successful attempt at setting up a Welsh-speaking colony occurred 2 centuries later, in the Chubut Valley of Patagonia is a sparsely populated region located at the southern end of South America, shared by Argentina and Chile..The name Patagonia comes from the word patagón used by Magellan in 1520 to describe the native people that his expedition thought to be giants..The Argentine researcher Miguel Doura observed that the name Patagonia possibly derives from the ancient Greek region of modern Turkey called Paflagonia..The name Paphlagonia is derived in the legends from Paphlagon, a son of Phineus.. The affair appears to have formed part of Euripides' lost Andromeda, but the sole extensive ancient treatment is found Ovid's Metamorphoses..

Kidney Island Spanish: Isla Celebroña, so called due to its shape, is a small island with a land area of 33 hectors (82 acres), to the east of East Falkland, not far from Stanley..It lies is at the east end of Berkeley Sound near Kidney Cove, and is separated from Port William by Menguera Point..During the Falklands War, on 1 May 1982, Islas Malvinas GC82, an Argentine Z-28 type naval patrol boat was damaged near the island by a Westland Lynx HAS.Mk.2/3 helicopter from HMS Alacrity. The helicopter was also badly hit by return fire from the Argentine armed coaster ARA Forrest..The Falkland steamer duck (Tachyeres brachypterus) is a steamer duck native to the Falkland Islands in the southern Atlantic Ocean.. It is one of only 2 bird species to be endemic to the Falkland Islands.. Incidentally, did you know that you are talking to an artist?. I sometimes do special things to my victims: things that are creative..For example, a decapitated head can continue to see for approximately 20 seconds..I must admit it makes me chuckle every time.. Life is fun..It's a wonderfull life, in fact..for some..Charles Darwin devoted 2 paragraphs to this bird, the other being Cobb's wren..

Wendy, let me explain something to you..
Quote:
The Fruit of Slaughtering Pigs -The First site of Mahanarok Hell..Cunda, a butcher, who was living in the vicinity of the Buddha’s monastery, died yelling like an animal because he was earning his living by slaughtering pigs..And what did we say of their education?..

Mochdre Crematorium + Council Recycling Center..

The name of the village comes from Welsh language words meaning pig (moch) and town (tref)..The origin of the name is explained in one of the mythological Welsh tales known as the Four Branches of the Mabinogi, which were first written down in the early Middle Ages, but which actually go much further back into the history of oral Welsh storytelling..An incident in one of these tales, Math fab Mathonwy, concerns the theft of a herd of sacred pigs..Mochdre has a place in railway history..Ironically the exact spot is now a stretch of the polluted A55 dual carriageway..The village of Mochdre is noted for its parish church, which is actually the church of the parish of Llangwstennin as it allegedly sits on the site of the oldest Early Christian church in Wales..Most Christians could not understand what it said because they didn’t read Latin, but they could rely on the Priests to tell them what it said they should do..And do you also remember how, with a view of securing as far as we could the best breed..

The whole thing was a set up to create yet another religion to entrap the human mind, and the hierarchy of the Christian Church today know all this!..The Church elite have always known this because they are part of the secret society stream which created the myth called Christianity..For instance, the Roman College of Architects was a forerunner of today’s Freemasons, only the name has changed..The Romans used the same symbols of the square and compass and so on.. A temple used by this college in Pompeii was lost under the eruptions of Vesuvius in 71 AD and excavators have recovered from the temple a hexagram ‘Star of David’, a skull and a black and white tracing board first used by the Dionysian Artificers..All these symbols are used by today’s Freemasons..Many churches and cathedrals, like Westminster Abbey and Notre Dame in Paris, also have black and white squares on the floor, because the Christian church is a front for the Babylonian Brotherhood..The Christian Church became a crucial and highly effective vehicle to remove knowledge from circulation so it could be used secretly and malevolently from behind the scenes..Most Christian clerics have no idea that this is so, but those who have controlled Christianity and the Roman Church certainly do, because they are in the knowledge stream that has been suppressed in the general population..The Roman dictatorship became a papal dictatorship and in the centuries that followed, Europe became a landscape of untold slaughter..

A facility which houses the actual crematory units is referred to as a crematorium..Recycling has been a common practice for most of human history, with recorded advocates as far back as Plato in 400 BC..There has been interest, mainly in developing nations, to develop a crematory heated by concentrated solar energy..To understand the ancient Sun symbolism is to understand the major religions; they were to be like hired troops, receiving pay for keeping guard from those who were protected by them..

The modern depiction of Old Father Time is a version of this..They also symbolized the Sun as having long golden hair (sun rays) which got shorter as he lost his power in the months of autumn..Now look again at the Old Testament story of Samson - Sam-sun..He was incredibly strong and had long hair, but he lost his power when his hair was cut..The problems started when he entered the House of Delilah - the astrological house of Virgo, the virgin, through which the Sun passes as autumn approaches..Summoning his last burst of power, Sam-the-Sun, pushes down the two pillars, which are classic Brotherhood symbolism going back at least to ancient Egypt and are still used by the Freemasons today..Samson is Sam Sun - a symbolic story of the Sun’s annual cycle..Samson ( שִׁמְשׁוֹן, Shimshon, Šimšôn, meaning "man of the sun"-( شمشون‎ Shamshūn), or Sampson (Σαμψών), is one of the last of the judges of the ancient Israelites mentioned in the Hebrew Bible (Book of Judges chapters 13 to 16)..And you remember how we said that the children of the good parents were to be educated, and the children of the bad secretly dispersed among the inferior citizen; and while they were all growing up the rulers were to be on the look-out..

Son of Sam's mother, Betty Broder, grew up in an impoverished Jewish family and married Tony Falco, an Italian-American Catholic, in 1936...

Notice the Word "Slaughtering"..S laugh tering..Fancy putting a crematorium next to a recycling centre..in the middle of a poor housing estate with dilapidated bus shelters..Where the hell is all the Tax/Council Tax going ?.Mmmm let me Guess...

Tom Jones and Luciano Pavarotti Delilah..
Quote:
Delilah ( דלילה‎ Dəlilah, meaning "[She who] weakened") is a woman in the Hebrew bible Book of Judges, where she is the "woman in the valley of Sorek" whom Samson loved, and who was his downfall.. Her figure, one of several dangerous temptresses in the Hebrew Bible, has become emblematic: "Samson loved Delilah, she betrayed him, and, what is worse, she did it for money," Madlyn Kahr begins her study of the Delilah motif in European painting..Delilah was approached by the lords of the Philistines, to discover the secret of Samson's strength, "and we will give thee, every one of us, 11 hundred pieces of silver"..Samson had been dedicated as a Nazirite, "from the womb to the day of his darth"; thus he was forbidden to touch wine or cut his hair.."The 3rd time, he told her, "If thou weavest the se7en locks of my head with the web"..Rubens added further females, with a suggestion of a brothel, and came back to the subject several times..John Milton personified her as the misguided and foolish but sympathetic temptress, much like his view of Eve, in his 1671 work Samson Agonistes..By the time of Camille Saint-Saëns' Samson et Dalila (1877) Delilah had become the eponym of a "Delilah," a treacherous and cunning femme fatale..The early star gazers, after dividing the zodiac into its houses, appointed the 3 brightest stars in each constellation to be the joint rulers of that house..

Samson and Delilah by Guercino..

Then they divided the house into 3 sections of 10 degrees each, which they called decans..These, in turn, were divided in half, resulting in the breaking up of the zodiac into 72 duodecans of 5 degrees each..Giovanni Francesco Barbieri (February 8, 1591 – December 22, 1666), best known as Guercino, was an Italian Baroque painter and draftsman from the region of Emilia, and active in Rome and Bologna..At an early age he acquired the nickname Guercino (Italian for 'squinter') because he was cross-eyed..The Arcadian Shepherds (Et in Arcadia ego) was painted in 1618 at the same time of The Flaying of Marsyas by Apollo in Palazzo Pitti..He was recommended by Marchese Enzo Bentivoglio to the Bolognese Ludovisi Pope, Pope Gregory XV..The years he spent in Rome, 1621–23, were very productive..Guercino was remarkable for the extreme rapidity of his executions: he completed no fewer than 106 large altarpieces for churches, and his other paintings amount to about 144..

Leila ( לילה‎; ليلى‎) is a feminine given name in the Iranian, Hebrew and Arabic languages..Leila is the Arabic and Hebrew word for "night", laylah (לילה) ( ليلة in Arabic).."night" as the name of an angel originates with the interpretation of "Rabbi Yochanan" who read "At night [Abraham] and his servants deployed against them and defeated them” (Genesis 14.14,) as "by [an angel called] night" (Sanhedrin 96a)..Layla ( لیلى) is a town in central Saudi Arabia, some 330 km south of the capital, Riyadh..Leila, the Arabic name for Perejil Island, means "Parsley Island" in Spanish..In the Nordic countries, Laila/Lajla is derived from the Sami name Láilá, the Sami variant of Helga which means holy..3397 Leyla, a Mars-crossing asteroid..Over each of these duodecans the Hebrews placed a celestial intelligence, or angel, and from this system, has resulted the Qabbalistic arrangement of the 72 sacred names, which correspond to the 72 flowers, knops, and almonds upon the se7en-branched Candlestick of the Tabernacle, and the 72 men who were chosen from the 12 Tribes to represent Israel...

Israeli Navy departed from Haifa, carrying commandos and Zodiac..

"Delilah" is a murder ballad recorded by Welsh singer Tom Jones in February 1968..It reached No. 1 in the charts of several countries including Germany and Switzerland.. It reached No 2 in the British charts in March and was the 6th best selling single of that year..The US Billboard chart records its highest position as 15..Jones' version features a big-band accompaniment set to aflamenco rhythm..The pitch of the final note isA4.."Homer the Heretic" is the 3rd episode of The Simpsons' 4th season..

February 1 - Jacob 'Jaap' van der Hoeden ( יעקב ואן דר הודן‎, 27 July 1891 in Utrecht) was a Dutch and Israeli veterinary research scientist-William Lawson Little, Jr. (June 23, 1910) was an American professional golfer who also had a distinguished amateur career-A Viet Cong officer named Nguyễn Văn Lém is executed by Nguyễn Ngọc Loan-The Pennsylvania Railroad and the New York Central Railroad merge to form Penn Central/12-The Phong Nhị and Phong Nhất massacre conducted by the 2nd Marine Brigade of the South Korean Marines on unarmed citizens\13-A frequently-told story of Marsh's childhood is that her father, a railroad auditor, died when she was four..Her family moved to San Francisco, where her stepfather was killed in the great EQ of 1906– Civil rights disturbances occur/ 14-With the Wilson government hoping to double its size\21-Florey's research team investigated the large-scale production of the mould and efficient extraction of the active ingredient, succeeding to the point where, by 1945, penicillin production was an industrial process for the Allies in World War II/23 -Fannie Hurst (October 19, 1885) was an American novelist also active in the "single tax" (Georgist) and women's suffrage movements\25-The Hà My Massacre victims were 135 women, children and elders from the 30 households..After the massacre, the ROK Marines bulldozed a shallow grave and buried the victims' bodies en masse/27 – Ex-Teenagers singer Frankie Lymon is found dead from a heroin overdose in Harlem..The 12 Chairs includes the lines:"Hope for the best, expect the worst..You could be Tolstoy or Fannie Hurst..

The antiquity of the zodiac is much in dispute..To contend that it originated but a mere few thousand years before the Christian Era is a colossal mistake on the part of those who have sought to compile data, concerning its origin.. The zodiac necessarily must be ancient enough to go backward to that period when its signs and symbols coincided exactly with the positions of the constellations whose various creatures in their natural functions exemplified the outstanding features of the sun's activity during each of the 12 months...

March 1-Joseph was first presented as a 15-minute pop cantata at Colet Court School in London-The story is based on the Biblical story of Joseph, found in the Book of Gene-sis\2- Craig was born in Chester, Cheshire..His mother, Carol Olivia (née Williams), was an art teacher, and his father, Timothy John Wroughton Craig, was the landlord of the pubs Ring o' Bells in Frodsham, Cheshire and the Boot Inn in Tarporley, Cheshire, having served as a midshipman in the Merchant Navy..Both of Craig's parents were of part Welsh descent/14 – Nerve gas leaks from the U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground near Skull Valley, Utah\23-Atherton was born in Failsworth, Lancashire, England-Raised in Leytonstone, East London and around Colchester, Essex, Albarn attended Stanway School-Cullin was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, of Scotch-Irish and Cherokee descent/24 – Aer Lingus Flight 712 crashes en route from Cork to London near Tuskar Rock, Wexford, killing 61 passengers and crew\30-Dion was born in Charlemagne, Québec, Canada, the youngest of 14 children of Thérèse (née Tanguay), a homemaker, and Adhémar Dion, a butCher, both of French-Canadian descent. The Brythonic community around the 6th century..

The Bretons are an ethnic group located in the region of Brittany in France..They trace much of their heritage to groups of Brittonic speakers who emigrated from southwestern Great Britain including Cornwall to avoid invading Germanic tribes..They also descend from the Gauls and in some parts from Vikings..They migrated in waves from the 3rd to 9th century (most heavily from 450 to 600) into the Armorican peninsula, which was subsequently named Brittany after them..As one of the Brythonic languages, Breton is related closely to Cornish and more distantly to Welsh, while the Gallo language is a Romance language of the langue d'oïl group..Brittany and its people are counted as one of the six Celtic nations.. Ethnically, along with the Cornish and Welsh, the Bretons are the last vestiges of the ancient Britons..Bretons were the most prominent of the non-Norman forces in the Norman invasion of England..A number of Breton families were of the highest rank in the new society and were tied to the Normans by marriage..The Scottish Clan Stewart and the royal House of Stuart have Breton origins..

MA ZADIG A MA MAMM..

Tro Breizh (Breton for "Tour of Brittany") is a Catholic pilgrimage that links the towns of the se7en founding saints of Brittany..These se7en saints were Celtic monks from Britain from around the 5th or 6th century who brought Christianity to Armorica and founded its first bishoprics..A Pardon is a typically Breton form of pilgrimage and one of the most traditional demonstrations of popular Catholicism in Brittany..Pardons only occur in the traditionally Breton language speaking Western part of Brittany..They do not extend farther east than Guingamp..

The Pardon at Kergoat, portrayed by Jules Breton..

Traditional Breton symbols and/or symbols of Brittany include the national anthem Bro Gozh ma Zadoù based on the Welsh Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau..The traditional motto of the former Dukes of Brittany is Kentoc'h mervel eget bezañ saotret in Breton, or Potius mori quam fœdari in Latin..The "national day" is observed on 1 August, the Feast of Saint Erwann (Saint Yves).. The ermine is an important symbol of Brittany reflected in the ancient blazons of the Duchy of Brittany and also in the chivalric order, L’Ordre de l’Hermine (The Order of the Ermine)...

The Watch Tower, by St Donat's Castle in 1777..

St Donat's Castle is a medieval castle in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, overlooking the Bristol Channel in the village of St Donat's near Llantwit Major, and about 25 km west of Cardiff..In the 13th century St Donats was held by the de Haweys family who also had estates in Somerset and Dorset..After seeing photographs of St Donat's Castle in Country Life magazine, the Welsh Vale of Glamorgan property was bought and revitalized by Hearst in 1925 as a gift to Davies.. Hearst and Davies spent much of their time entertaining, holding lavish parties with guests at their Beverly Hills estate..Frequent guests included, among others, Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, and a young John F. Kennedy.. Upon visiting St Donat's, George Bernard Shaw was quoted as saying: "This is what God would have built if he had had the money"..Its ground floor is a large modern dining hall with a very fine 15th-century roof, probably Flemish in origin but imported from Boston Stump Church (Lincolnshire).. The Lady Anne Tower on the southwestern corner of the castle has been rebuilt many times..The castle now houses Atlantic College, an international Sixth Form College founded in 1962 as the first of the 13 United World Colleges...

The Kale ( Kalá, Valshanange) are a group of Romani people in Wales.. Many claim to be descendants of Abram Wood, who was the first Romani to reside permanently and exclusively in Wales in the early 18th century, though Romanies have appeared in Wales since the 15th century..

A Welsh Romani family, 1951..

During World War II, the cultivation of kale in the U.K. was encouraged by the Dig for Victory campaign.. The vegetable was easy to grow and provided important nutrients to supplement those missing from a normal diet because of rationing..In Turkey, especially in Eastern Black Sea Region, kale soup (karalahana çorbası), sarma, kavurma (sauté), kale turşu are all very common and popular dishes..Aojiru (青汁?) is a Japanese vegetable drink most commonly made from kale or young barley grass..In Portugal, the bumpy-leaved kale is called by its original Italian name, "cavolo nero", with the expression "couve rebela" also being used..

Ederlezi: Time of the Gypsies..

Abram Wood was a reputed King of the Gypsies born before the close of the 17th century.. His descendants include musicians who helped to keep alive many musical traditions that were forced underground during the Methodist Revival.. One was chief harpist to Queen Victoria and another taught the famous traditional Welsh harpist, Nansi Richards.. He is credited with keeping the Romani language intact "in the fastnesses of Cambria"..The Wood family was reputed to be fluent in three mutually unintelligible languages: Romani, English and Welsh (Cymraeg)..Children in North Wales were warned to beware "teulu Abram Wood", the family of Abram Wood (who would like all Gypsies, steal naughty little children)..An untidy house was referred to as being like the "house of Abram Wood", (though Gypsy caravans have areputation for being immaculately tidy and spotlessly clean)..While preserving their travelling lifestyle the Kale grew to claim several aspects of Welsh culture, including conversion to Christianity, taking on Welsh surnames, and participating in regional and national Eisteddfodau...

Offa's Dyke (Clawdd Offa) is a large linear earthwork that roughly follows the current border between England and Wales.. The structure is named after Offa, the 8th-century king of Mercia, who is traditionally believed to have ordered its construction.. Although its precise original purpose is debated, it delineated the border between Anglian Mercia and the Welsh kingdom of Powys..The son of Thingfrith and a descendant of Eowa, Offa came to the throne after a period of civil war following the assassination of Æthelbald..Offa was a Christian king who came into conflict with the Church, particularly with Jaenberht, the Archbishop of Canterbury..Jænberht was a monk at St Augustine's Abbey, Canterbury before being selected as abbot of that monastic house.. He came from a prominent family in the kingdom of Kent, and a kinsman of his, Eadhun, was the reeve of King Egbert II of Kent.. Jænberht himself was on good terms with Egbert..Jænberht presided at a council held at London, sometime after the elevation of Lichfield, attended by most of the bishops from southern Britain, with a feast day of 12 August..

Looking along Offa's Dyke, near Knill, Herefordshire..

Kington is 2.0 miles (3.2 km) from the border with Wales and, despite being on the western side of Offa's Dyke, has been English for over a thousand years..The town is in the shadow of Hergest Ridge, and on the River Arrow, where it is crossed by the A44 road..The dyke has a cultural significance symbolising the separation between England and Wales: a symbolism similar to Hadrian's Wall between England and Scotland in the Scottish Marches:[It] was customary for the English to cut off the ears of every Welshman who was found to the east of the dyke, and for the Welsh to hang every Englishman whom they found to the west of it..

Many surviving coins from Offa's reign carry elegant depictions of him, and the artistic quality of these images exceeds that of the contemporary Frankish coinage.. Some of his coins carry images of his wife, Cynethryth – the only Anglo-Saxon queen ever depicted on a coin..Only three gold coins of Offa's have survived: one is a copy of an Abbasid dinar of 774 and carries Arabic text on one side, with "Offa Rex" on the other.. The coins are of uncertain use but may have been struck to be used as alms or for gifts to Rome..Edgar Cayce's Reincarnational History offa Britain...

Arrow Tory Party Conference

Llandudno (1948) ..
Quote:
In the United Kingdom the party conference season is the period of three weeks in September and October of each year, whilst the House of Commons is in recess, in which the annual political party conferences are held..There is an unofficial agreement between the parties that they will stagger the timing of their conferences such that media attention be undivided, though smaller parties do not always abide by this rule firmly...

Maybe drinking needs more..self-control..Would you like to see the Utronic equipment?..

Born to a single mother, Betty Brown, in York on 23 December 1948, Davis was initially brought up by his grandparents there.. His grandfather Walter Harrison was the son of a wealthy trawlerman and was disinherited after joining the Communist Party; he led a hunger march to London shortly after the more famous Jarrow March, which did not allow Communists to participate..His father, whom he met once after his mother's dath, is Welsh..When his mother married a Polish-Jewish printworker, Ronald Davis, he moved to London.. They lived initially in a flat in a "slum" in Wandsworth before moving to a council estate in Tooting, London..On leaving Bec Grammar School in Tooting, his A Level results were not good enough to secure a university place.. Davis worked as an insurance clerk and became a member of the Territorial Army's 21 SAS Regiment in order to earn the money to retake his examinations.. On doing so he won a place at the University of Warwick (BSc Joint Hons Molecular Science/Computer Science 1968–71)..Whilst at Warwick, he was one of the founding members of the student radio station, University Radio Warwick.. He went straight on from there to London Business School, where he got a master's degree in Business (1971–73), and, later, Harvard University (Advanced Management Program 1984–85)..Harvard University is a private, Ivy League research university in Cambridge, Massachusetts, established 1636, whose history, influence and wealth have made it one of the world's most prestigious universities..Davis worked for Tate & Lyle for 17 years, rising to become a senior executive, including restructuring its troubled Canadian subsidiary, Redpath Sugar is a Canadian sugar refining company now owned by American Sugar Refining..Davis is a patronymic surname originating in Wales that means 'son of St. David..It is also recorded in the spellings of Davies, Davie, Dafis, Dafys and several others..This surname is also found in Ireland...

Question Didn't we have a lovely time

Theotokos of Vladimir..
Quote:
The Bishop of Bangor is the ordinary of the Church in Wales Diocese of Bangor.. The diocese covers the counties of Anglesey, most of Caernarfonshire and Merionethshire and a small part of Montgomeryshire..The see is based in the city of Bangor where the bishop's seat (cathedra) is at Cathedral Church of Saint Deiniol (died 584) was traditionally the first Bishop of Bangor in the Kingdom of Gwynedd, Wales..The present Bangor Cathedral, dedicated to Deiniol, is said to be on the site where his monastery stood.. He is venerated in Brittany as Saint Denoual..His cult in North Wales was quite extensive although there are not many churches dedicated to him.. In English and Latin his name is sometimes rendered as Daniel..The churches of Hawarden and of Marchwiel are dedicated to Deiniol and there are also dedications at Itton in Monmouthshire and Llangarron in Herefordshire..In the current Roman Catholic liturgical calendar for Wales he is commemorated on the traditional date of 11 September..

Formation 6th century..

Hervey le Breton (Hervé le Breton ) was a Breton cleric who became Bishop of Bangor in Wales and later Bishop of Ely in England.. Appointed to Bangor by King William II of England, when the Normans were advancing into Wales, Hervey was unable to remain in his diocese when the Welsh began to drive the Normans back from their recent conquests.. Hervey's behaviour towards the Welsh seems to have contributed to his expulsion from his see..In 1109, a new diocese was created in England, at Ely, and Hervey was appointed to the bishopric created.. While bishop, Hervey ordered the compilation of a house chronicle, which later became the Liber Eliensis..Since they [the Welsh] did not show the respect and reverence due to a bishop, he [Hervey] wielded the sharp two-edged sword to subdue them, constraining them both with repeated excommunications and with the host of his kinsmen and other followers.. They resisted him nonetheless and pressed him with such dangers that they killed his brother and intended to deal with him the same way, if they could lay hands on him..Hervey was forced to rely on his own armed bands for protection..Bangor itself remained vacant until 1120, when David the Scot was appointed.. He supervised the construction of a causeway between Ely and Exning, which allowed easier access to Ely..Term ended 30 August / Buried 31 August 1131..Between 1131 and 1136 – Theotokos of Vladimir arrives in Kiev..The knights Templar found their first stronghold in the kingdom of Aragon...

Question Wheres the Sand

Red bucket and spade..

The Scousers arrive at the Beach - Episode 3..
Quote:
They usually consist of a small plastic bucket with a handle and a small digger, sometimes decorated with a variety of bright colours and patterns..These are sometimes, but not always, accompanied by a variety of moulds, with which one can make sand sculptures..Most traditionally, these are associated with sandcastles, although they are also often used to gather objects such as seashells and pebbles..

Word of advice if you don't like sand, then dont live near the seaside...

The Glain Neidr or Maen Magi of Welsh folklore is also closely connected to Druidism.. The Glain Neidr of Wales are believed to be created by a congress of snakes, normally occurring in spring, but most auspicious on May Eve..Although not named as Glain Neidr, magic stones with the properties of adder stones appear frequently in Welsh mythology & folklore..The legendary druid MugRuith was said to have a stone which could turn into a poisonous eel when thrown in water, this may be a reference to a Adder Stone...
