The 2011 Helmand Province incident was the killing, on 15 September 2011, of an injured Taliban insurgent by Royal Marines..The incident took place in Helmand Province during Operation Herrick 14, part of the British effort in the War in Afghanistan.. The Swiss businessman Henry Dunant visited wounded soldiers after the Battle of Solferino in 1859.. He was shocked by the lack of facilities, personnel, and medical aid available to help these soldiers.. As a result, he published his book, Memoir of the Solferino, in 1862, on the horrors of war..The former proposal led to the establishment of the Red Cross in Geneva..The 10 articles of this first treaty were initially adopted on August 22, 1864 by twelve nations..

Dunant was born in Geneva, Switzerland, the first son of businessman Jean-Jacques Dunant and Antoinette Dunant-Colladon.. His family was devoutly Calvinist and had significant influence in Geneva society.. His parents stressed the value of social work, and his father was active helping orphans and parolees, while his mother worked with the sick and poor. His father worked in a prison and an orphanage..Leading divines, either Calvinist or those sympathetic to Calvinism, settled in England (Martin Bucer, Peter Martyr, and Jan Łaski) and Scotland (John Knox).. During the English Civil War, the Calvinistic Puritans produced the Westminster Confession, which became the confessional standard for Presbyterians in the English-speaking world. Having established itself in Europe, the movement continued to spread to other parts of the world including North America, South Africa, and Korea..In Switzerland some cantons are still Reformed and some are Catholic...

On the first day of the PRMC, potential recruits begin their assessments at Bam.. They undertake the 3 Mile Run and Gym Tests..After Gym tests there is a short swimming assessment..The 3-mile run consists of a 1.5-miles-out run as a squad followed by 1.5-mile back individual best effort..Day 1 and involves you jumping off the high diving board (3m) in normal swimming kit and swimming a maximum of 4 lengths (approx 100m) of breast stroke.. You must complete at least 1 length.. If you complete 1 but less than 4 lengths you will be graded as a WEAK SWIMMER and you will be advised to improve before joining and could delay your start date for joining recruit training..Throughout this evening, the expression "You're only as strong as your weakest man" is very much in force, meaning there are consequences for the entire squad if a few candidates do not do as they are told...

HMS Affray, a British Amphion-class submarine, was the last Royal Navy submarine to be lost at sea, on 16 April 1951, with the loss of 75 lives.. All vessels of her class were given names beginning with the letter A; she was the only ship of the Royal Navy to be named after a particularly noisy and disorderly fight..Affray was built in the closing stages of the Second World War.. She was one of 16 submarines of her class which were originally designed for use in the Pacific Ocean against Japan..Some elements of her design were taken from captured Nazi German U-boats.. On 16 April 1951, Affray set out on a simulated war mission called Exercise Spring Train with a reduced crew of 50 from 61..They were joined by one sergeant, one corporal, and 2 marines from the Special Boat Service; a commander (Engineer), a naval instructor, se7en lieutenants in the engineering branch, and 13 sub-lieutenants..This made her complement 75 in total..She also had 10 torpedo tubes which made her & her class some of the most formidable submarines in the world at that time..Her captain's orders were unusually flexible: the Marines were to be dropped off somewhere along the south west coast of England—the captain told the Admiralty he had chosen an isolated beach in Cornwall—come ashore and return under the cover of darkness..The exercise was expected to continue until Affray was due to return to base on 23 April for essential defect repairs including a leak in a battery tank..When she missed her 0800 report due the next day she was declared missing and an immediate search Begum..Cabotage originally meant simply coasting trade, from the French caboter, to travel by the coast..
