Cool Agent Provocateur

This chap Jo Corré is an interesting character, apparently the founder and generally the spokesperson of TalkFracking along with his celebrity fashion designer Mum. His cool dismissiveness did make me smile and I do enjoy a healthy dose of cynicism. Course, the prospect of being Fracked-over does make you vulnerable to seeing a brash snake oil salesmen given short shrift by a punk era throwback.

It wasn't till I looked into Corré's background as a lingerie millionaire that I saw the irony in his porn slur. You wouldn't have thought you could make so much money selling skimpy underwear and organising "parties" and "shows". Still it worked for the Middletons, so I guess it all depends on your connections and getting certain superrich clientele.

Can't help wonder why the Bank of England's Industrial and Finance Corporation (now rebranded "3i") would pay £60m for a line in pervy undies? Looks like it started as a seedy window-shop in the heart of London's Red Light district; apparently a key part of the brand's success was strictly enforced confidentiality (I bet).

Those of you who've followed movements like Occupy will be aware of the so-called Actor-vist phenomena; so it might start ringing alarm bells when you here this inexplicably prosperous brand is called Agent Provocateur. One of their famous celeb models was Peaches Geldof. Apparently an important aspect of this brand was lifting women out of poverty via the Seven Bar Foundation - photoshopping nude female models (of a certain demographic) obviously does this.

Red face closed minded determination

So there's been a lot of coverage of this apparent decision by North Yorks Council. Makes we wonder whether its all just a PR thing to boost investor confidence? More psychological subjugation?

They've posted some videos of their Special Meetings.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtAZPnlrIXY

At 8:01 their Legal Advisor, Catriona Gatrell says
Quote:
In considering this decision, it is important Members have a clear understanding of how they should approach their decision. As Members will appreciate, it is unlawful for Members to approach the decision by having a closed mind or giving the appearance of having a closed mind.
However the Chair, Peter Sowray, has already said
Quote:
I can assure everyone, that Members were very ready to make a decision today, but that will not now be possible...
It is going to be a long day; I just wonder whether people could consider whether they need to take their full allocated time?"
Evidence perhaps of a closed mind?
