There's a shit load of psy-trance going on in the South-West. They're always ahead of the game down there for music for sure.. All those sleepy ports aren't just for fishing

I think there are a couple of artists from this area actually, aphex twin, oribital and some others (might need to check that)

Human Traffic was the film that coined the 'safe as fuck' line, well it was for me and my m8s anyway

Been every year since 2004.

www.gladefestival.com

www.ravetalk.co.uk/forum/ has a big Glade forum, although www.psymusic.co.uk is the best for all things psy

The most interesting thing about Psytrance culture is (of course) the music.
The concept is basically Shamanic drumming upgraded/perfected with the use of modern technology.

I use "Dark" Psytrance (the latest in the evolution of real consciousness-expanding music:
Shamanic drumming - Goa trance - Psytrance - Dark Psytrance) for Meditation and Active Meditation (trancedancing).
I also use Psybient for Meditation.

PM (Psytrance Meditation) works, and it's effortless...
Make yourself comfortable and relaxed, close your eyes and listen (soundquality is important. use headphones if you can).
Now, the trick is to imagine that you are making the sounds happen as you listen to them, maintaining focus on the fastest elements.
Eventually, keeping up with the fast, complex, repetative (but constantly shifting) rhythms will leave no time over for external perception and thought...
I've had my most significant mystical experience / oneness experience or whatever you wanna call it, listening to psytrance.
Those who are into psytrance culture are well aware of the spiritual properties of the music.

Try it!

I heard a lot of Psy Trance is made by Israelis. Is that true? They make MDMA too I heard? I'm not knocking it. I'm just saying. I used to love this one compilation called Hypnotic State. Shpongle is great. I could trip to that for sure.

Yes, this is true. Psytrance is an evolution of Goatrance which really started to form into its own genre in the early nineties (from acid house). Goatrance was pioneered by Italy, UK, France and Israel mainly before it evolved into a more clinical and full on type of trance known as Psytrance around 1999 and the end of the millennium.
This new direction of music was less popular in the UK but the Israelis really took to it and still produce it prolifically today where it's now mainstream.

"Full on or melodic psytrance (also referred to as morning trance, club psytrance and Isra-trance) is a style of trance music, a form of psychedelic trance that originated in Israel during the late 90's.
Full on draws its main influences from more radio-friendly genres such as uplifting trance (Nitzhonot and vocal trance) and electro house, occasional electric guitar performances and usage of vocals"

It's a commercial form of psytrance which I don't care for at all.
Nothing to do with the fact that it's made by Israelis though.

Dark Psytrance is the real deal.
