Fifteen police forces are now investigating allegations of historical child sex abuse in football.

Within the first three days, 60 referrals were made to the police or children’s services.

That would infer these cases are current and this problem is not historic but ongoing.

The media feeding-frenzy over allegations of sex abuse against footballers by their coaches just shows the hypocrisy of investigators, according to Mrs Mike.

She says what happened doesn’t matter anything like as much as who is making the complaint – and This Writer can see her point.

High-profile people like professional footballers benefit from the trust of the media – and, presumably, investigators.

But if the allegation is made by an ordinary member of the public – against a public figure – then the story is different.

The recent collapse of the Operation Midland inquiry due to questions over the credibility of its key witness has led to claims that victims should no longer be automatically believed.

That may seem like common sense to you – anybody’s allegations should be tested, right?

But it also means that it will be easier for those with something to hide to attack the credibility of people who are naturally likely to be highly nervous of authority figures and under extreme stress, simply from coming forward.

And of course, if you are making a historic child sex abuse claim against another member of the public, your chances of being believed have always been low – especially if the allegation is against somebody who has a good relationship with the police.

Mrs Mike has personal experience of that, which means that This Writer has first-hand experience of it as well.

For that matter, how many allegations of sexual abuse and/or rape carried out against adult women actually end in a successful prosecution? I’ll tell you: one-fifteenth – and that’s one-fifteenth of the three-seventeenths of rapes that are actually reported (according to figures that are – I’m sorry to say – several years old).

Don’t mistake me – any investigation that puts a paedophile in jail is welcome.

It’s just a shame our society refuses to apply the same standards to everybody.

In most cases the victums are rarely beleved or its swept under the carpet.

Scotland Yard’s investigation into claims of a VIP paedophile ring was likened to the antics of the bungling fictional detective Inspector Clouseau today as a review of the inquiry was published.

The son of the late Labour peer Lord Janner, who was separately accused of child sex abuse, hit out at how detectives were taken in by a “blatant fantasist” in a 16-month investigation codenamed Operation Midland.

The £2.5 million investigation was opened in November 2014 after claims by a key witness called “Nick” that boys had been sexually abused by public figures more than 30 years ago.

The allegations included accounts of child abuse, murder and torture by politicians and military figures in the Seventies and Eighties. The inquiry was abandoned this year after it found no evidence to support the claims.

Today, Daniel Janner QC told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “Inspector Clouseau could have done better and not spent £2.5 million in 16 months investigating what were blatant fantasies.” Inspector Clouseau was played by Peter Sellers in the Pink Panther series of films.

Why don't we have have one called Failure of Operation Enquires? and then have another one the failure of the failure so on so on.

Call for a more robust and neutral inquiry into child abuse and you're accused of starting a witch hunt, or you're labelled a conspiracy nutter. God knows how many disinformation agents they've managed to plant over the years to distract and confuse. Look at the accusations about Ted Heath. That's sinking faster than Morning Cloud in a Force 10 gale. How many ex-special branch officers have been called to give evidence? How about Heath's predilection for prowling around Hampstead Heath looking for young trade? Where's that file?

The football scandal may get some traction because, so far, no powerful men have been named but you have to wonder where all this will lead. Groping boys in the changing room is one thing but where there is organized child abuse, wealth and power are somewhere close by.

Each new revelation seems to be a step further away from the elite and a step closer to joe public and the closer it gets to joe public, the more the media cover it and the less of a coverup there is (or at least appears to be.)

In other words, as I have said many times, this is probably being used to steer the whole thing onto joe public where a "massive problem" will be mysteriously found that necessitates "drastic measures" such as children raised by the state.

In many respects Spoons, we're all raised by the state. From the moment our parents place us in nursery school, primary school, secondary school, and on, we are wards of the state. From 9-4, Monday to Friday (except holidays), the state feeds us, educates us, punishes us, and moulds our character. Then they use us to build society. It doesn't always work out and, like any production line, there are rejects, but the state takes care of them too.

The Ted Heath thing may not be being as deeply buried as they would like. Despite all the attempts to dismiss it, it seems like the Wiltshire chief constable is taking it seriously, let's just hope he survives longer than most other police in this country who try to do something about these events.

Really feels sometimes like the tide could be turning on all this soon. You only have to look at the different way the media treats the allegations against Establishment figures to how they treat the allegations against people like these football coaches to see that the cover up is still ongoing. They act as if everything that the ex footballers are saying is true without question (not saying it isn't of course), while constantly trying to dismiss the victims of MP's as fantasists and liars. People won't fall for these coverups for much longer I think.

I think we should do more to get the people who are reporting claims of abuse, to make their allegations to as many different independent channels as possible simultaneously. It is highly likely that establishment charities like the NSPCC are compromised and possibly even set up for the very purpose of controlling the information received by claimants about establishment figures.

Also, I may be mistaken, but why does there seem to be a lack of mentioning of Gary Speed in the latest round of media reporting on the football allegations? You would think that would be one of the main talking points around this case, which makes me think the chances of him being silenced to stop him outing wider rings (eg North Wales kids homes?) in his books are much higher than most think.

Some 18 police forces are now examining claims from more than 350 people, across 55 clubs.

Sadly, ambitious junior players must make rich pickings for paedophiles at football clubs who are paid to scout out children with potential.
