Her family is right behind us and is very supportive..” Lisa was murdered as she walked home from a party in Leigh, near Wigan, on the night of Saturday, December 8, 1984..She was attacked from behind and killed in an alleyway off Rugby Road within 500 yards of her home on Bonnywell Road..Her mum, Christine Hession, searched the streets for her in vain and called the police..Within 15 minutes, officers were at her door – asking her to come to Leigh Infirmary..Christine said: “I had to go there and identify her. “I felt shocked – just devastated..You don’t think this sort of thing is ever going to happen to you.” Christine, speaking from her home 27 years after the horrific murder, said she is still no wiser about who killed her child..But she said: “I think it’s someone who lives in this town and I think someone knows who it is and is shielding them. Charlene Downes ..

Born 25 March 1989 - disappeared 1 November 2003-(Height 155 cm (5 ft 1 in) was a girl who lived in Blackpool, UK, her family having moved there when she was 10 years old.. She disappeared aged 14 years old.. Police initially treated the case as one of a missing person although their enquiries revealed she had probably been a victim of sexual abuse near the location where she was last seen.. She is now believed to have been murdered.. Downes was last sighted in an area later reportedly identified as at the centre of child grooming and sexual abuse of 60 underaged girls by Asian men..A jury failed to reach a verdict in the trials of two men, one accused of murdering Downes and the other of disposing of her body.. A re-trial ended with not guilty verdicts when the prosecution withdrew the charges. There have been no convictions in relation to the disappearance of Downes..In August 2007, 15-year-old Paige Chivers went missing in Blackpool allegedly in similar circumstances. In July 2015, a man was convicted of her murder..

Downes was born on 25 March 1989,to Robert, a former soldier, and Karen.. She had two sisters and a brother and they lived in Buchanan Street, Blackpool..In the early evening of Saturday, 1 November 2003,Downes, who was aged 14 at the time, kissed her mother goodbye..Downes said she was going to meet friends on Blackpool Central Promenade where the town's amusement arcades are located..She was spotted last in Abingdon Street and the back of Clifton Street...In February 2015 Charlene's 21-year-old brother, appeared in court and admitted harassing the man who had faced a charge of helping to dispose of Charlene’s body..Also in February 2015, Charlene's 24 year old sister, Emma was charged with the racially aggravated assault of the brother of the man cleared of murdering Charlene..In February 2015 Charlene's mother was attacked by another one of her daughters and was attacked by a web stalker..

Following the decision to start treating Downes disappearance as a murder, there were a number of arrests in the case.. In 2007 two men were put on trial.. The prosecution alleged at Preston Crown Court that Charlene Downes, 14, was killed by Iyad Albattikhi, a 29-year-old man from Jordan, the owner of "Funny Boyz" fast-food outlet in Blackpool..Mohammed Reveshi, the first's business partner, was accused of disposing of her body.. According to the prosecution, the defendants had sex with Downes..The prosecution alleged the men spoke of disposing of her body by putting it in kebabs sold from a fast food outlet..The jury failed to reach a verdict, and at a re-trial the prosecution withdrew the charges..Both defendants were freed and given compensation for false arrest of around £250,000.. There has not been another prosecution...

The one that breaks my heart is Keith Bennett. Murdered by Brady and Hindley then shoved into a hole somewhere out there on Saddleworth Moor. His poor mother never stopped hoping that he would be found but died a broken-hearted woman. If memory serves, there's a dowser in the Greater Manchester area who believes he knows where the poor lad is buried but, so far, I don't think anyone has followed up on his information.
