What is kindness?

Understanding, compassion, kindness, helping someone, listening, giving....

The truth can be hurtful.

But once the shock, the pain has subsided, then most folk get to smile that much broader..

We must never permit the voice of humanity within us to be silenced.
It is man's sympathy with all creatures that first makes him truly a man

Animals cannot speak, but can you and I not speak for them and represent them?
Let us all feel their silent cry of agony and let us all help that cry to be heard in the world

A little thought and a little kindness are often worth more than a great deal of money. John Ruskin
Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love. Lao Tzu

"I think probably kindness is my number one attribute in a human being. I'll put it before any of the things like courage or bravery or generosity or anything else."

Or brains even?

"Oh gosh, yes, brains is one of the least. You can be a lovely person without brains, absolutely lovely. Kindness - that simple word. To be kind - it covers everything, to my mind.
If you're kind that's it"
- Roald Dahl

We think too much and feel too little.
More than machinery, we need humanity.
More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness.

The Dalai Lama says that his religion is that of kindness. If there were more of this around the world would be a much better place to live.
