This one is doing the rounds here in the UK at the moment. I think its a good idea. It looks less romantic but gives off more sustained heat.

It works well to be fair.

I made one last weekend and was so pleased that ive made two more

Very cheap heat, and two placed under a clothes airer dries clothes pretty quickly too.

I came up with a similar idea to the opening post about 5 years ago, but I decided not to use it cos I was worried that the fumes from the candle might be bad for my health.

But yes I really do like this idea with the plant pots, IF we could come up with a way that we could get the fumes out by say using a flue.

You could also place these on a window sill to keep out the cold air that comes from the windows. And for safety, maybe place it in a small glass fish tank (ie so that it doesnt easily get knocked over) ?

I tried one and it took the chill of my trailer, tried a few in my smallish chalet and it worked surprisingly well... think a house would need quite a few though but maybe not i suppose houses dont let the cold in as much
Always been a fan of the fire though! I know its not an option for a lot of people but this is a really good backup plan
I read something about cooking on tealights too!

These days there are a few different kinds of candles like soya and beeswax which i think are a lot better because they dont have paraffin, they cost more but maybe something worth stocking up on

Tried this out a few years ago.
It does not give much extra heat,
and the fumes from those tealights are not very healthy either.
It's ok to use just one tealight for warming up scented oils.
But using a lot of them is not a good idea.
And the resulting extra heat is negligible.

I now use the flowerpots to grow weed,
they are much more useful this way...

For some people who are on tight budget and can't afford heating, flowerpot heater is something though.
