Default Any builders out there into straw bale/earth bag s

Good day all.

For a good few years I’ve been interested in earth ships and all other such structures.

At this point in time in time I’m needing to get a new shed so I was thinking might be a good idea to build some type of earth structure instead.

Since I have zero experience I’ve been looking on the internet in the hopes of finding some type of co operative where maybe a groop spends so much time working on one persons project then on the others and so forth. But can’t really see anything.

I don’t know if anyone with building experience is interested in something like this, would be good to hook up. I live in the Coventry area. Free throughout the day. Even would be happy to join an experienced builder as an apprentice.

Good for you ruthy!
I think you may find this site of interest:
http://lammas.org.uk/

There are others out there, I stumbled across these folks while doing some research on the subject too.
I enjoyed there document section detailing the permit and environmental processes involved.

The Guardian did a story once:
http://www.theguardian.com/environme...ng-environment

Hope this helps.

Hi ya. It looks like I might be making a barn using those technologies in a few years or so. But in the mean time, look up the woofing site below. I will be attending 'somewhere' when I have to hone-in on the skills.

The Lammas site can be recomended, but I am not sure that they are doing that construction type soon. I go there often and it looks like they are finished building the big stuff (though nothing stops there in truth )

Saying all that, the nicest type of construction I saw recently was of a timber framed and straw-bale walled home. Best of both worlds?

Also, it just sprung to mind that you might find these podcasts entertaining and worth the time to listen to; http://internetradio.dr-rock.biz/downloads

Its the DR Rock radio shows. I was listening to one recently and he was talking of a woofing foray that he himself indulged in.

I recommend them to anyone.
