Yes, I remember there was quite a flap about it in the press at the time.

Gah.. It appears this way because you keep referencing the same conspiracy websites over and over again. I am trying to find an independent, original source of the quote. All your link shows is another conspiracy site perhaps misquoting the earlier, original, different quote from the book.

Granted, I wasnt old enough at the time to see the newspaper reports but that's neither here nor there. There still appears to be no real proof that he said those words, in that context.

That makes sense, but he made a lot of other comments on the same line, like:
Quote:
Press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. on the occasion of the "Caring for Creation'' conference of the North American Conference on Religion and Ecology, May 18, 1990.
It is now apparent that the ecological pragmatism of the so-called pagan religions, such as that of the American Indians, the Polynesians, and the Australian Aborigines, was a great deal more realistic in terms of conservation ethics than the more intellectual monotheistic philosophies of the revealed religions.
Address on Receiving Honorary Degree from the University of Western Ontario, Canada, July 1, 1983.
For example, the World Health Organization Project, designed to eradicate malaria from Sri Lanka in the postwar years, achieved its purpose. But the problem today is that Sri Lanka must feed three times as many mouths, find three times as many jobs, provide three times the housing, energy, schools, hospitals and land for settlement in order to maintain the same standards. Little wonder the natural environment and wildlife in Sri Lanka has suffered. The fact [is] ... that the best-intentioned aid programs are at least partially responsible for the problems.
Preface to Down to Earth by HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, 1988, p.|8.
I don't claim to have any special interest in natural history, but as a boy I was made aware of the annual fluctuations in the number of game animals and the need to adjust the "cull'' to the size of the surplus population.
Lecture to the European Council of International Schools. Montreaux, Switzerland, Nov. 14, 1986.
The great difficulty about "life'' is that we humans are part of it, and it is therefore almost impossible to study objectively.... It therefore tends to be anthropocentric and gives scant attention to the welfare of all the other life-forms which share this planet with us.

...When the Bible says that man shall have "dominion'' over God's creation, the choice is between understanding dominion as in "having power over,'' or dominion as "having responsibility for.''
Plus, if he made those statements in public, imagine what he thinks in private!!!

To my knowledge, neither Wikiquote (which is a division of Wikipedia) nor the Guardian/Observer are "conspiracy websites".

I give in. Wikiquote is a publicly editable site - meaning anyone can add what they want. Does that make it credible or truthful? Do you think it would hold up as proof in a court of law? Could you provide any evidence he said these things that would hold up in a court of law?

lol quit any court of law bullshit for fucks sake
anything that you didn't hear personally from the person himself wouldn't be of any substance in a court of law provided everyone was properly exercising the rights and doing their correct duties and nothing more

who gives a shit what most of these people have said publically anyways, if there's a slight air of metaphorism, skeptics can and will dismiss them as either metaphors meaning something else or as non-metaophors at all - if they say something that's for example evil and not intended as a metaphor, skeptics can and will dismiss them as being crazy, joking, metaphorically speaking, whatever.

Whereas you, on the other hand, take it as certain proof that Prince Philip wants to cull human population. Even though you have no evidence, nor can you provide any, that he actually said these "quotes". Anyway, forget it now, I don't want to argue I just wondered if anybody here could provide a hard copy of the original quote to satisfy my own curiosity.

I think you are the one who chose to ignore the fact that he textually mentioned: "the need to adjust the *cull* to the size of the surplus population"; as posted in another quote up there.

As we said before, the fact that all the media published those quotes in headlines are quite a valid proof of it. Whether you didn't read those newpapers, or do not believe they did publish them is another matter.

where on earth has it been shown what I take as certain proof of anything?
better to find something to move forward with than to stick with something that will invariably have one running in circles

As I said, forget it. This is a fruitless exercise. Although I have learnt not to believe any quotes mentioned on this forum, or any other conspiracy sites, at face value - and indeed that the majority were probably never said at all or have grossly been taken out of context.

I haven't read all of this thread but quotations I think you can easily check up on are:
some evil ones from David Rockefeller (from his own book for example)
the famous NWO one from Bush snr.
a few more from big-name politicians in videos on YouTube

For more than a century, ideological extremists at either end of the political spectrum have seized upon well-publicized incidents to attack the Rockefeller family for the inordinate influence they claim we wield over American political and economic institutions. Some even believe we are part of a secret cabal working against the best interests of the United States, characterizing my family and me as "internationalists" and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure - one world, if you will. If that's the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it. -David Rockefeller

Get a Realplayer update. It allows you to download FLV videos.

By "valid" I simply mean that they would have quoted him accurately, nothing more.

Australia is known for sunny beaches, surfers, and blistering Outback heat.
So scientists were a bit taken aback when they spotted this giant iceberg floating near an island Down Under.

Australian Antarctic Division researchers were working on Macquarie Island when they first saw the iceberg last Thursday about about five miles off the island.
It is rare to see an iceberg floating so far north of Antarctica, researchers said. Macquarie Island is about halfway between Antarctica and Australia, some 930 miles from Tasmania.
The iceberg is about 160 feet (50 metres) high and 1,640 feet (500 metres) long.
now thats weird http://www.doomdaily.com/2009/er%e2%...nny-australia/ for full story and an amazing picture, click link

In his article, "Global warming hysteria serves as excuse for world government" Daniel Taylor outlined how the exploitation of the natural phenomenon of "global warming" was a pet project of the Club of Rome and the CFR

"Richard Haass, the current president of the Council on Foreign Relations, stated in his article "State sovereignty must be altered in globalized era," that a system of world government must be created and sovereignty eliminated in order to fight global warming, as well as terrorism. "Moreover, states must be prepared to cede some sovereignty to world bodies if the international system is to function," says Haass. "Globalization thus implies that sovereignty is not only becoming weaker in reality, but that it needs to become weaker. States would be wise to weaken sovereignty in order to protect themselves..."

an essential means of achieving global government by consent over conquest, as has long been the ultimate goal of the elite, is by "fanning public hysteria" over climate change,

FURTHER QUOTES

"The Trilateral Commission, one of the three pillars of the New World Order in alliance with Bilderberg and the CFR, met last week in near secrecy to formulate policy on how best they could exploit global warming fearmongering to ratchet up taxes and control over how westerners live their lives.

At the confab, European Chairman of the Trilateral Commission, Bilderberger and chairman of British Petroleum Peter Sutherland (pictured top), gave a speech to his elitist cohorts in which he issued a "Universal battle cry arose for the world to address “global warming” with a single voice."

Echoing this sentiment was General Lord Guthrie, director of N.M. Rothschild & Sons, member of the House of Lords and former chief of the Defense Staff in London, who urged the Trilateral power-brokers to "Address the global climate crisis with a single voice, and impose rules that apply worldwide."

Globalists love global warming! Oil industry kingpins, Bilderbergers and Rothschild minions have all put their weight behind it. This is a fraud conceived, nurtured and promulgated by elite, and to castigate individuals for merely questioning the motives behind climate change fearmongering by accusing them of being mouthpieces for the establishment is a complete reversal of the truth
Why would the oil industry love the idea of global warming? It means less sales dosen't it?

Not sure if what you said there was meant to be a metaphor or not...
