Exclamation Windows 10 spies on you by default

‘Incredibly intrusive’: Windows 10 spies on you by default

Microsoft’s new Windows 10 operating system is immensely popular, with 14 million downloads in just two days. The price of the free upgrade may just be your privacy, though, as changing Windows 10’s intrusive default settings is difficult.

Technology journalists and bloggers are singing Windows 10’s praises, often using the words such as “amazing,”“glorious” and “fantastic.” The operating system has been described as faster, smoother and more user-friendly than any previous version of Windows. According to Wired magazine, more than 14 million people have downloaded their upgrade since the system was released on Wednesday.

While the upgrade is currently free of charge to owners of licensed copies of Windows 8 and Windows 7, it does come at a price. Several tech bloggers have warned that the privacy settings in the operating system are invasive by default, and that changing them involves over a dozen different screens and an external website.

Have we reached the point where it's easier for the internet to cause us harm then to serve us? I swear that it was so much different ten years ago. I mean, it came out of a military project, so it's not as if it was all pure and innocent, but it was so much more helpful.

This is only partially related. Not quite as insidious but this is like some kind of detatchment from reality:

This is for a game played solo.

A deck of cards costs $4.00 at my local drug store, when it's not even on sale.

I have Windows 8.1 on mine and I keep getting offers for a free upgrade to 10. I haven't taken them up on it and probably won't. My next device will be a Mac.

Wise decision

Anyone see the joke

Background music:

History is ending, because Microsoft has led the human species into a blind alley.
And as the inevitable chaostrophe approaches, people look for metaphors and answers.
Every time a user gets into trouble, He casts him self back into the past looking for the last sane moment he ever knew.
And the last sane moment we ever knew was Windows 2000, 15 years ago, rocked in cradle of the great horned NT goddess before history.
Before cloud based software, before slavery by subscription, before virus warfare and phonetic alphabets and monotheism. Before, before, before.

Every version of Windows is a spy

I think Microsoft was deliberately set up for that....I'm so sceptical these days

I have an illegal Windows 7 Pro on mine so I don't get the chance to upgrade for
free....what a shame NOT

Thumbs down Microsoft are NSA supporting terrorists!

Now that people know windows NSA spy 10 is spying on them, why bloody upgrade?

This is not news to people like myself and the ones who know about this.

Don't forget Microsoft latest advert, using kids to try and programme people, to use there face instead of passwords. All part of the NSA plan to get 3D images of your faces. Don't fall for it!

Microsoft are sick in the head using children for it's own criminal agenda.

Here is the advert and this was shown on UK TV.

Technology will eventually, be used to enslave the human race. Time to wake up.
The UK voted to leave the corrupt, undemocratic EU. Get on with starting article 50!

Well I am on Windows 8 and the first thing I thought when Windows 10 was announced was "Fucking hell, they're really riding elephants into the spider's parlour!"
And got responses of "U wot mate?"

Here's a suggestion, when someone asks you about it, tell them not to download it and why they shouldn't. Don't download it yourself, and if you have 7, 8 or 8.1, turn off automatic updates because they may surprise you with a forced/automatic download of 10 just to be nice. I don't know anyone who's downloaded it, and the few I've talked to are leery of it, they've "heard" some negative things about it.

First clue that it's shite? It's FREE. When has Microsoft given an OS away for free?

Show this to those thinking about a upgrade.

They log everything you write on the keys. They can look in your emails.

"We'll collect info like contacts, recent calendar events, speech and handwriting patterns, and typing history."
