While I agree with a lot of the article, in truth reggae is actually more widespread now than it's ever been. But it's always been an underground thing, and so many elements of the music (and the language) have become absorbed by mainstream pop, hip hop & grime.

For one thing you'd never read about Augustus Pablo or Dennis Brown in mainstream papers when they were alive, not in the same way as Chronixx and Protoje now get coverage in the Guardian. Even Bob Marley wasn't commonly seen in the papers, a lot of that started long after he passed on.
