I'm releasing this song next month, hopefully.
Great song Imani!
Is this a debut for this song on DI forum?

I have to say that is sounding and looking really professional from the production, composition, arrangement, even the video. Good on yer fella.

Can I ask you some questions. Is any of this funded by a record company or are you doing it yourself? Who did the sound production and video? If you dont want to post on this thread you could send me a private message.

I think this song should be featured more prominently on this website maybe on the home page or in the headlines...it's really good enough. I may start a campaign on your behalf!.

They were a great band. Paul Weller was really spot on with his political stuff, really ahead of his time in a way. DC Lee added something to this band for me too...gorgeous!

This song wasn't necessarily poiltical, but you can see from the video the backdrop is the 80's Miner's strike...which as we know sounded the death knell for people power in Britain (just for a while I hope). This is an inspirational song as it perfectly encapsulates (for me) a sense of righteous anger. Always loved this one:

Belated reply...Cheers Gatherer.

The song was produced by a good friend of mine, Chris Thomas http://www.myspace.com/soulfunktionuk who has his own studio at home and myself. The video was done by a guy called Ian Geddes http://www.youtube.com/user/sixyearsleft .......I'd recorded a version of the song in 2007 and met Ian by chance at one of those 'Job Clubs'....turned out he's awake and makes his own videos. I'd watched They Live and already had the preacher sampled at the intro of my song.... he came up with the idea of using footage from the film mixed with some stuff I'd filmed on another video.

It's all entirely self funded and actually, those guys helped me out for free.
It'll be out as a download on Amazon and iTunes.

It's my second forum track, the other one being my debut single below. There's a thread about it on Forum Talent "Debut single addresses issue of honour crimes".

Weller is really into Curtis Mayfield and you can see it in his writing, especially in this period. That way of writing about the political situation but putting it into universal terms. PS....Oh yes, D.C Lee was and is gorgeous.

On that whole Red Wedge thing, I did a thread a while back, 'Pitfalls of being a political artist':

Default IT'S YOUR WORLD - Gil Scott Heron

the ground beneath my feet
i know was made for me
there is no any one place where I belong.
my spirit's meant to be free
and soon now everyone will see
life was made for us to be what we wanna be!

IT'S YOUR WORLD
it's yours and yours and yours
and what you see
was not meant for me.
IT'S YOUR WORLD
but you don't have to be lonely
'cause in your world
you are truly free!

the thoughts that fill my mind
are a very special kind
because they're home to me and me alone.
and then i realize
that we all have a home inside
that was meant for us to be what we wanna be

it's your world
it's yours and yours and yours
and what you see
was not meant for me
it's your world
but you don't have to be lonely
'cause in your world --- you are truly free!

music of life fills my soul
music of love makes me feel whole
as human history unfolds before my eyes.
my spirit's meant to be free
and soon now everyone's will be.
it's your right to be whatever you wanna be!

IT'S YOUR WORLD
it's yours and yours and yours
and what you see
was not necessarily meant for me
IT'S YOUR WORLD
but you don't have to be lonely
'cause in your world
you are truly free!

IT'S YOUR WORLD
it's yours and yours and yours
and what you see
it was not meant for me
IT'S YOUR WORLD
but you don't have to be lonely
'cause in your world
you are truly free!

(refrain)
you are truly free
to be what you wanna be
you are truly free
to be what you wanna be
you are truly free
to be what you wanna be
you are truly free
to be what you wanna be

Default Harvest for the World

This is a beautiful and inspirational song on many levels-not least lyrically...

Isley Brothers- Harvest for the World

All babies together
Everyone a seed
Half of us are satisfied
Half of us in need

Love’s bountiful in us
Tarnished by our greed
Oh, when will there be
A harvest for the world

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Hey

A nation planted
So concerned with gain
As the seasons come and go
Greater grows the pain

And far too many
Feelin’ the strain
Oh, when will there be
A harvest for the world

Yeah, yeah

Gather every man
Gather every woman
Celebrate your lives
Give thanks for your children (No)

Gather everyone (Gather everyone)
Gather all together (Gather all together)
Overlookin’ none (Overlookin’ none)
Hopin’ life gets better for the world

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Oh

Dress me up for battle
When all I want is peace
Those of us who pay the price
Come home with the least

And nation after nation
Turnin’ into beasts
Oh, when will there be
A harvest for the world

Yeah, hey
When will there be
I wanna know now, now
When will there be a harvest {Harvest for the world**
When will there be a harvest {Harvest for the world**
When will there be a harvest {Harvest for the world**
When will there be a harvest {Harvest for the world**
When will there be a harvest {Harvest for the world**
When will there be a harvest {Harvest for the world**
When will there be {Harvest for the world**
When will there be {Harvest for the world**
Everybody {Harvest for the world**
Oh, talkin’ bout the children {Harvest for the world**
When will there be a harvest {Harvest for the world**
When will there be {Harvest for the world**

Left a reply for you on that thread dude.

Hey,on the subject of Dee C Lee, I found a picture on Google of Paul Weller and his son with Dee C Lee...very weird, the most androgynous looking man I've seen for a long time, looks just like his mum!

Default Stone Roses

Here are a couple of nice little songs by the Stone Roses.

The first one here features the subtle sound of a shotgun at 40seconds...while the song itself calls for an end to the Monarchy!

By the way this isn't stolen from Simon and Garfuknkel but is really a much older English folk tune...

The next song here could be interpreted on a few different levels, but as you can see from the video (not sure if official video as this wasn't a single I dont think..?) it has political overtones if you want to hear it on that level...

What this thread brings home to me is that politicians are immune to these messages, it's safe to say.

Yeah of course they are! The politicians that go anywhere are usually illuminati bloodlines or people hand-picked because they are so right-brained (or is it left?) that they could never have empathy for human suffering...
The ones that have got an idealistic streak and try to change things usually find their careers stalled by smears etc etc...

Anyway, fuck politics! You can't fight politics with politics...after all politics itself was originally just a sleight of hand con-trick to make the masses think they were having a say in things, and to prevent peasant uprisings etc...while behind the scenes keeping all the old power structures in place (as you probably know).

The only thing to fight politics with is consciousness...and from that level 'fight' is the wrong word. Which remind me of a John Lennon interview that someone else posted on here from 'Man of the Decade 1969'. Here it is I think you'll like it.
