Default Liberation

This is how i think we move towards the higher states of consciousness

ego causes us more problems than we can accept, and we also don't see everything as clearly as we should, so some effort must be made to increase perception

http://www.vipassana.co.uk/meditatio...in_english.php
http://www.effective-mind-control.co...exercises.html

i couldn't find any of these books on the forum and i find them the best iv read on mindfulness/awareness

food weighs us down to earth, so reducing what you eat will help

http://www.truthseekerz.com/Robert_M...ebook_EBOK.pdf
http://breatharian.info/texts/Inedia...ingFasting.pdf

http://forum.breatharian.info/viewtopic.php?t=763
http://forum.breatharian.info/viewtopic.php?t=746

religious people fast and stop eating for a while, because doing so brings them closer to God, some also believe the body is like a temple, so it makes sense to keep this clean, by fasting and eating better
cleaner body = happier spirit

we also need to reduce our contact with negative forces so we are not dissuade from our potential

IMHO

....ego is very fine ,our sense of identity, not to be despised....

Vipassana ... attended one of their 10 day retreats a long time ago.... very grueling.... sitting 8 hours a day , no talking , short exercise period. Life doesn't have to be that hard! But the 'meditation' technique is one of the best. Their site you link to is also pretty good.

Breatharianism ...I've explored this , more a myth than a practical reality, very flawed in theory, denying ones physicality.

Fasting ... Excellent for health and mental clarity, I've just finished a 48hr fast ....short fast , fairly often are regarded as better than long (over 5 days) fasts.

My recommendation is YOGA .. the type you find everywhere in evening classes , postures .... this naturally encourages inward focus without the extreme, unnatural effort needed in techniques like vipassana....postures keep the body fit , and are the only preparation for divine union (tantric sex).

the ego is also lot stronger than negative forces are at distracting us from our potential

see the movie Revolver to understand where im coming from

whether its the only enemy or not is irrelevant because we are still our own worst enemy

There's something very wrong with this world view .... that a part of ourselves is our worst enemy!

Do you think other life forms are in this terrible predicament ? Is a dog or a rabbit tormented and held back by parts of it's own self ....of course not ...

You've been miss directed by a dogma , or a guru ..... Insecure gurus are always deriding their followers for having an ego (asking difficult questions, or showing independence)...

There's also something wrong with the title of this thread 'Liberation'. ...Someone who is not successful in the format of experience they find themselves in , is always seeking liberation, it's the dream of the looser.

We're as liberated as we'll ever be.

I agree with you. My experience is mindfulness including mindful eating and detox is the fastest way to generate consciousness. I have had great success with this. My favourite writer on mindfulness is Eckhart Tolle.

I'd say ego is the actor, and spirit is the observer. Ego is an imaginary idea we hold of ourselves. Spirit just see's things as they are. Ego easily drowns out spirit, although ego along with our bodies dies while spirit is eternal. Ego is us kidding ourselves, although ego can be a very useful tool. If you're in a situation that needs courage from you, then by donning a particular ego you can summon the courage.

Ego probably first occurred as a tool, then ended up becoming our warped sense of identity as we got more and more lost through time. It should be put back in it's rightful place as an almost magical tool, and we all should stop kidding ourselves with it.

Peace, love, harmony and wisdom friends

Mindfulness is not really David Icke's go is it? This is an important thread but it does not surprise me that it gets a less than overwhelming reception in this community.

My ego likes my ego. They get on quite well.

Left to it's own rumination ego is fine. Put it through a prism and then you may get problems.

introspection is really important. introspection develops intuition, that a lot of people need. mindfulness is good for overcoming ego problem.

also consider that the centre of your consciousness, is sort of like an energy generator.

and like said in the matrix movie, we are like batteries

wherever you focus, energy/life grows. so looking inward sometimes helps give back energy you may have wasted being distracted by the world. this would also explain why they work so hard to control the masses, with the way they think, and with what they do. (like "they live" movie) its to direct the flux of energy a certain way

balance is key.

when i first got into mindfulness by that book. it was ego that suggests that the only way to live is to give yourself 100% to the practise. and the 3 characteristics of existence are worse than they sound. but the more i sorted myself out these 3 characteristics disappear,
