Didn't work with me and my mates. We went down there to brick the fuck out of him if we caught him.

ps. I'll confess that we didn't go looking for him after dark, but, we were told he'd get you in broad daylight, and we fancied our chances under those circumstances. We'd be marching up and down the canal with a brick in one hand, and a long stick to poke the reeds and stuff with, or defend ourselves if the bricks didn't work.

Yep, I heard it as "Ginny" .
My parents were from over Bradford/Openshawe way and I remember them talking about Ginny green teeth. I also remember my mum telling me that when she was young, she used to live in fear of Spring heeled Jack, which was odd because the last sighting of him was about forty years before she was born in 1924.

......and then there was Clubfoot and the man with 365 noses, but that's another story....

The hole in Sheridan's theory is the unlikelihood that not one person would have survived such a murder attempt. It's possible that somebody carefully picks victims who are too drunk to even have a chance of surviving, I suppose, but it seems improbable they'd get away with such a long succession of victims without someone surviving.

ps. Tommy, we are not "Mancurians," whatever they might be.

Ha ha, I don't know about you, but I like the idea of being from Manchester and also apparently China.

Miles Platting what a dump!
Along with Beswick, Harpurhey, Ancoats and Newton Heath.

Yesterday's development follows allegations from a 33-year-old witness, known only as Sharon X for legal reasons, who claims she was at 25 Cromwell Street when police officers visited for sex. She also alleges that they used the home as an illegal drinking club. She said this happened over the same period that the Wests were torturing and killing women and girls at the house.
It is not unheard of for Security firms to employ ex-cons. Could it be that the perpetrator(s) actually monitor CCTV systems to identify potential victims and then assure no footage of the crime emerges?

I'm sure they would have done had they found targets of any value.

Half the ASUs probably lived there. That's likely the reason Kilburn was never bombed.

An author investigating deaths in Greater Manchester canals says he believes a serial killer is at work.

Thomas Sheridan, a writer and researcher specialising in psychopathy, visited Manchester to investigate rumours of ‘The Pusher’ - a killer stalking the city’s waterways.

He is convinced some of the 60 plus deaths since 2004 are the work of a psychopath or ‘extremely disturbed individual’ with excellent knowledge of the streets around canals.

And like notorious 1980s London murderer Dennis Nilsen, Mr Sheridan believes the killer could be targeting gay men, or those he believes are gay, in a bid to assuage his own homosexual guilt.

I think the high number of people of Irish descent in those areas might have helped too.

Police find body floating in canal at Manchester's Gay Village

A body has been found floating in the canal in the heart of Manchester's Gay Village.

Police were called to Canal Street on Sunday afternoon – after a couple on a barge are believed to have reported seeing a human body in the water.

Officers dismissed original reports that it was wrapped in a black bag but said it was too early to say whether the death was suspicious.

Detectives cordoned off the scene near GAY bar and Princess Street while the canal was partially drained.

Divers from the North West Underwater Police Unit then went into the water and used a hook to pull the body through the water before it was hauled onto the bank under a bridge.

Shocked onlookers watched as a large black bag was seen being loaded onto a stretcher and wheeled into a forensics tent where photos were taken.

An eye witness said he saw people on a canal boat stop at the lock and then peer into the water.

It is believed the people on the boat called the police and were later seen being interviewed by officers.
Onlookers watched as a large black bag was seen being loaded onto a stretcher and wheeled into a forensics tent where photos were taken.

Witnesses said they saw the body in the water within a bag – but police said they believed the body was not sealed inside a bag but may have had one floating on top of it or become tangled in it.

Bob Ramsbottom, 56, landlord of the New Union pub on Canal Street said: “We were upstairs on Friday night at around 10.30pm when we heard a very big splash.

“I looked out of the window – we saw someone walking away over the bridge. In nine years, there has been quite a few bodies found in this canal.”

William Johnston, 22, a customer at GAY, said: “We looked out into the canal when the police arrived and saw a black bag floating. You could only see one end of it but then the police prodded it with a stick and it turned around and you could see it was shaped like a body. We saw the divers go in and drag the bag along the canal and take it out.”

James Lemons, 31, said: “We looked into the canal and it was like you could see hair floating in the water out of the top of the bag but you couldn’t see what was attached to it.”

Lewis Knight, a student at the Royal Northern College of Music, said: “I have only been here two weeks and on my first walk out this is what I’ve seen. It is shocking to say the least.”

Another witness said they saw people on a canal boat stop at the lock and then peer into the water. It is believed the people on the boat called the police and were later seen being interviewed by officers.

Police confirmed a body had been found but said it was too early to say how long it had been in the water or how the person came by their death.

A spokeswoman said: “Just before 3.40pm on Sunday police were called to Canal Street near Union Street in Manchester city centre, to reports that there was a body believed to be in the water.

“Officers and underwater search teams located and

recovered the body from the water.

“Enquiries are ongoing to identify the individual and establish if there are any suspicious circumstances.”

Probably 'not suspicious' as usual.

What happens in other UK canal cities, in areas with similar dangers? Police only need to compare statistics to say whether there is something strange going on! No wonder they are called the plod.

probably the scariest thread on here!

to me it looks like a gay serial killer who lures them to the canal then shoves them in
maybe he meets them before hand elsewhere and gives them drink/drugs etc to make them weaker as a man on man attack ..someone would survive at some point?
but if on drugs, alcohol then they may not to be able to survive in the water...unless they are dead before they hit the water of course, dropped in unconscious maybe ?

either way whatever is happening its terrifying
can anyone make up a list of all deaths on one post along with dates?
