isnt it strange that in the centre of a busy city with a load of activity and potential crime going on, none of these 61 incidents have been caught on surveillance cameras? Youd think the police would have some sort of CCTV evidence or clues.

He's known locally as The Pusher, this is an artists impression of him.

I remember when I was a kid living in Miles Platting, we used to be warned off from going down to the canal by the threat of a creature called Jimmy Greenteeth. He was supposed to live in the water and jump out to grab anybody who strayed along the canal alone. Where da fuq do these urban myths come from?

I heard it as 'Ginny Green-teeth', a name for green pond weed used to scare kids away from bodies of water.

Hmmm... possible. I do remember that the pond weed was meant to be used as camoflage by this creature.

I was warned of "Jenny Greenteeth" back in the 60s when I was growing up not far from the Bridgewater Canal. I lost a schoolfriend in about 1965 who drowned in the canal near the Bay Malton pub.

I did a quick search and came up with a wiki page of Jenny Greenteeth, much to my surprise. I thought it was local lore but apparently it isn't.

Maybe Miles Platting was the hunting ground for her brother, Jimmy?

This deplorable story is finally exposed in the mass media, with the 'nutters' of the DIF turning out to be right yet again. Odd how often that happens!
The kid who went back for his shoes I thought was to meet someone after reading the earlier link. Now in this link, he was seen with another man. That case sounds well dodgy to me, well they all do really. It's amazing how the 'police' can't get anywhere with most of the cases, that sounds too familiar.
Find out the richest/ highest ranking person, or 70's entertainer who lives within walking distance and I expect at the very least, they will know something about it,

I lived in Manchester since I was 13 yrs old, the canals run through the city centre. One runs right through the gay village and you'll find some quite unscrupulous characters hanging around there like rent boys. All my time living in Manchester there has always been reports of murder rape and robbery in those places. Was always taught as a child to stay clear of it.

They are a nice place to walk the dog, or just enjoy the lack of rain during the day, but you'd be a fool to use them as short-cuts at night unless you were well capable of looking after yourself.

It's fucking ridiculous now, bodies left right and centre being found in the canal. GMP are clueless as usual therefore there is no problem. Their report on the couple who died in Failsworth the other day was laughable.

You mean the old couple who fell down the stairs? Or so it is claimed? What do you think happened instead?

The nearest thing I'm getting to a holiday this year is a night in the village for the pride festival....

So, yeah. This isn't a bit scary at all....

I have no idea what actually happened, but the police version that one of the couple fell down the stairs and died, and then then the spouse went to help and also fell down the stairs and died, seems ridiculous. The deaths were apparently 'not suspicious'. Case closed on that one. If I found two bodies at the bottom of a set of stairs, I doubt that the above would be my drawn conclusion. The odds of two people falling to their deaths on the same set of stairs within several minutes of each other with no witnesses to verify is odd.

However with bodies regularly retrieved from the city's canals, the police have decided it's not the work of a killer(s) but instead lots of other 'non suspicious' coincidences.

To protect children. My dad used to say all plants were poison and that there were bad men in the woods. strange how I now love nature, though I never go alone.
