From the BBC's website appearing to be promoting Freemasonry:

Would you want to be a Freemason?

BBC News Magazine
March 2002

They designed the pyramids, plotted the French Revolution and are keeping the flame alive for the Knights Templar. These are just some of the wilder theories about the Freemasons. Today they are associated with secret handshakes and alleged corruption in the police and judiciary.

But dogged by this "secret society" image, the Freemasons have launched a rebranding exercise.

On Friday, the United Grand Lodge of England, the largest Masonic group in Britain, publishes its first independent report. The Future of Freemasonry, researched by the Social Issues Research Centre, aims to start an "open and transparent" discussion ahead of the group's tercentenary in 2017.

Nigel Brown, grand secretary of the United Grand Lodge, says it's time to banish the reputation for secrecy. "We're being proactive now. It's essential we get people's minds away from these myths." For instance, there is no such thing as a secret handshake and professional networking is forbidden under Masonic rules, he says.

[...]

Masonic rules demand that members support each other and keep each others' lawful secrets, which has led to fears of corrupt cliques developing.

[...]

"The letter G often appears in Masonic buildings [pictured bottom]. Some have said this is the deity, but if that were so, the French would use D instead of G. The use of this symbol seems first to have been associated with geography, but later with geometry."

Another quote from the BBC article:

Quote:
The charter of Hamas - the Islamist party governing Gaza - states that the Freemasons are in league with the Jews and the Rotary Club to undermine Palestine.

These theories are "clearly mad", says Cohen, but attacking the Masons has become a staple for anyone suspicious of a New World Order.

There's also the sense that Freemasons are "weird", says James McConnachie, author of the Rough Guide to Conspiracy Theories.

Same article:

Quote:
Distrust remains strong. Last year, the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams controversially named a Freemason as the next Bishop of Ebbsfleet. He had previously said that Freemasonry was "incompatible" with Christianity.

In August 2010 it emerged that a new national Masonic lodge had been set up by senior police officers.

Default Vesica Piscis and Gridiron

The football itself is shaped like a vesica piscis:

"The vesica piscis has been used as a symbol within Freemasonry, most notably in the shapes of the collars worn by officiants of the Masonic rituals. It was also considered the proper shape for the enclosure of the seals of Masonic lodges." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesica_piscis

The football field is often called the gridiron. "In 1717 the Lodge of Antiquity met at the Goose and Gridiron, and it was there that the first Quarterly Communication of the Grand Lodge of England, after the revival of 1717, was held on the 24th of June, 1717." - http://www.masonicdictionary.com/goose.html

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gridiron_football :
"Gridiron football, or North American football, is a form of football primarily played in the United States and Canada. The predominant forms of gridiron football are American football and Canadian football.

"The term "gridiron" originated as a description of the sport's then-characteristic playing field, which, until the late 1910s–early 1920s, was marked with a series of parallel lines in a checkerboard (or grid) pattern, resembling a gridiron. The grid system was abandoned in favor of the system of yard lines and hash marks used today, but the term "gridiron" has survived."

You talk about "football" in London, but in the UK "football" means "soccer". Your picture shows an image of American football. Why would American football be created in London?

Not every "G" is Masonic. The "G" that is used in Freemasonry is primarily a device used in American Masonry.

Just because it is in an article, doesn't make it true. This statement from the article is just sensationalism that so many still cling to regardless of the facts of the matter.

The inventor of basketball, James Naismith, was also a Freemason. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...E2%80%93Z%29#N

Basketball features a ball going through a hoop, which could be likened to a planet with a ring around it, ie Saturn. Saturn is the crown chakra and the god part of the Shiva/Shakti alchemical marriage.

When you talk about football, do you mean REAL european football or strange american type of football that in reality is more like rugby than football?

If we talk about REAL football, the game where you DO use your feets, it´s obviously run by the ILLUMINATI. Just see how much corruption there is in FIFA.

Tomorrow we have the Champions League-final between Juventus and Barcelona. Probably it has already been decided who will win.....

How much sourced stuff do you have to post before people get a clue? But you get a return arguing about the difference between american and actual football? You can have the name football. American football rarely uses feet. Soccer is way more football than American football. Who gives a shit. We are all on the same team, and they are punking us with a variety of sports, including American football.

A 'Gridiron' was originally somewhere a ship or boat was moored above so that when the tide ebbed left the vessel supported free of the water and ground so that the hull could be cleaned.

The name 'Gridiron' was used long before America was discovered, let alone that silly game they mistakenly call football.

Scource; Personal frigging knowledge.

So the Goose and Gridiron being in a City so focused on seafaring was named because of that, because the American sport was played on a field marked out similar to the gridiron as explained above it is referred to as a gridiron.

Quite simple really.

Wink

The Masons invented football?

Lmho, sounds like its straight from Viz comic?! Lol
Listen up, there are a lot of things "invented" in the pub late in the night.
Quite a few eurika moments!

Apologise to the OP, but a few recent threads made me laugh.

Last chance to answer if you believe in Jesus or if you are being deceptive in saying that you are a Christian and are actually talking about the mystical Christ, the child of the alchemical wedding.

Checkerboard Vesica Piscis during football halftime.

Katy Perry sing about kundalini while riding the Blazing Star.

Interesting Samsung-football-add with a lot of Illuminati-symbolism and even some reptilian aliens:

*****Illuminati Pre-Conditioning Humans To Welcome Luciferian Reptilians As Saviours

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ16GxG8qYg

Knowing that Samsung seems to be part of the Illuminati or the NWO, it´s interesting that Juventus, the Italien football giants, have a few Samsung-adds on their Youtube-page.. Here one of them:

*****SAMSUNG & JUVENTUS - RUMORS - SUHD TV

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBx0ikwTCPE

By the way, Juventus´owner John Elkann is a Bilderberger, a member of Commitee of 300 and his father, Alain Elkann, is a zionist, friend of the Rockefellers. Juventus´jersey is Black and White, Classic free mason-colors. And outside Juventus Stadium there are two huge freemasonic pyramids....

Maybe the Masons did invent football ( soccer) but it was Sepp Blatter who made it what it is today.

Not every star is the "blazing star" or Masonic.

You don't really understand what constitutes Masonic. Simply using a symbol doesn't make something Masonic. Not everything a Mason does makes something Masonic.

Not even close. Football would have been successful whatever power and money-hungry leader was at the helm.
