This is the 3rd thread in the last week on the topic and the main responders are those in the 'no phone' camp.

Interesting though that some of the users that say they don't want a mobile phone by choice actually can't justify having one due to a lack of interest for them to be contactable by phone.

But I guess it's ok to be on your laptop or pc using broad band or wi fi.

Exactly, people are so honorable and rigid in their beliefs...until it interferes with their wants. To be afraid of phones, then use bank cards, saver cards, credit cards, have landline phone and power bills, and use the internet...but make their stand on mobile phones...is just so /ugh.

It just proves that fear rules, and people talk like pros on anything, even things they have little to no understanding about.

I have a cheaper than cheap mobile phone that spends 99% of its time sat on charge at the top of the stairs. I use it when I need to and on the rare occasion I take it out with me, I'm expecting a call.
I have no desire to own one of these so called smart phones, why would I want internet on the move when I spend soo much time on the internet at home on the computer?

I am also clairvoyant and telepathic.

Why people need a computer in their phone is beyond me. If you break down why would you need the internet?
People carry these things because they have fallen for the media blitz and have to be one of the cool people. NO ONE needs one. If you must have a cell phone why not just get that? a cell phone.
There are an awful lot of people including me who believe life in general was much much better before almost every person was addicted to the device in their pocket. Think you are not addicted? Turn it off for a week. Or if it's your only phone use it only for phone calls for a week.
And yes I care that I am being tracked. I find it an invasion of privacy.

OK so some of you people must be so important that IF you just so happened to get a cell phone your going to have a team of 20 people watching and listening to your every fucking 24/7/365 because why ? Oh yes because THEY CAN. You know back in the AOL days someone was reading ever INSTANT MESSAGE.

Back in the 90's I used to be anti-cell phone when they were still analog because I could pick up cell phones on my scanners it was a nice hobby listening in to others peoples lives and every now and then you picked up someone you knew, but not much. The best time I had was when Clinton came to town and all the SS still had analog phones I had to get 2 more scanners just to listen to all the fun.

Anyways later on cellphone went digital and that kind of took the fun out of listening to scanners, sure NO SUCH AGENCY has the means to listen to you and watch your every move.

So back in 07ish I got my first cellphone nothing major just something I could call and text on hell I didn't have a clue about texting but learned. As time moved on I got an upgrade and could take pics.

Now last winter my wife and I came out here to see if we really wanted to move here an the first thing we took notice to was that the cellphone company we had didn't work here and to make a long story short they wanted us to upgrade phones BUT said we still might not get call oh bad move for them and us we got 800$ earlier disconnect but my wife had been with them for 10 years, but that whole story is for another post and topic. So we felt it would be a good idea to get smart phones I like to track storms and since we live in bum fuck desert of Arizona and its nice to know where your going when your 4x4ing and with them you have no need for a GPS oh and all my posts are done on my phone since we don't have internet, to tell you the truth I would be lost with out one.

If some fucktard or asshat wants to know what I am doing or where I am going so be it I don't care hell you got enough people doing that for free on Facebook and Tweeter I don't use either of them. This past summer it was very useful to chase storms around here and on most nights its nothing but clears sky's so Starview is one of my favorite apps I use for looking at stars.

I hate to say this because I know its going to fall on a lot of deaf ears but if you have the chance try a smartphone its a mini PC in a phone and tons of other things. Hell this is smaller then the old Tricorders on Star Trek from the late 60's and it can do more so fuck yous all if you can't handle technologies or just care what new evils they bring.

It was basically saying that if you don't use a mobile and you don't want to be tracked throw it away, but whilst doing it throw out your tv (as many proudly profess to have done) is internet is just the new tv? so you should throw that out too (your pc) and your radio and maybe your electric toothbrush.

Yeah some good points in there, the internet is pretty much for porn as that is the bulk of it's content. Sure wifi and bluetooth and cell phone towers have health risks but so does getting in a car, its all risk. I think it is sad when you see people engrossed in what is going on in their phone instead of paying attention to the outside world but imo as long as you have a healthy balance using one shouldn't be condemned. If your on the internet, phone and tv most of the day that isn't healthy. The tracking technologies should be transparent but we don't live in that sort of world do we. My phone is off right now, I use it when I need it.
