![]() I don't know too much about currency dealing but it seems pretty certain that the $ is being forced down on a daily basis and the fact that many artciles are stating it is only a matter of time befor China becomes the super superpower hence one alternative might be to invest in the Chinese Reminbi (RMB)....? A constant remark is 'you can't eat Gold and Silver' so land and tools that grow food are another alternative that some people might see as beneficial if they are lucky enough to have access to land..? What would be used for trading if there was a collapse of the $ ...would stockpiling food become very valuable so what foods can be brought and stored easily and cheaply? I also think that ther are many other items out there that can be brought very cheaply at the moment that will surge in price in the not too distant future so ther will always be an opportunity if you can stay ahead of the game? Thoughts??

A currency default by the U.S. or any other country is not the end of the world, it has happened many times in the past and yet here we are. Currency defaults do not directly affect harvests so a food shortage is not the problem. Currency defaults suit debtors including Govts and hurt owners of paper denominated in that currency ie savers. If you want to transfer wealth through a currency default put your money in gold and silver and when the dust settles cash it in as required. Contrary to popular belief you CAN also eat gold and many Indian dishes are garnished with gold leaf. It does not have much nutritional value but then neither do pound notes or dollar bills.
It would not hurt anyone to have a well stocked larder but check the best before date.
