Default Curacao SCUBA DIVING by Henry Visser

Curacao is becoming one of the leading tourist destinations in the Caribbean with growing accommodations and activities. Scuba diving among Curacao’s famous coral reefs remains the most popular activity. For those of us who can’t dive or aren’t certified but still want to experience the beauty of Curacao’s colorful ocean floor, the recently added Substation dive is one that everyone can enjoy.

Substation Curacao introduces Curasub, a mini-submarine for tourists stationed in Bapor Kibra. This may sound similar to other submarine tours on different islands, but it is far from the same. Curasub is based on the well proven 30 year old Aquarius submarine, which is still operational today. This mini-sub dives 1,000 feet to the ocean floor reaching places most people have never seen.

The dive offers some of the best views of coral, schools of colorful fish, and old shipwrecks up close and personal. Only glass stands between you and the fish. The clear Caribbean water makes for perfect diving conditions, offering 60 feet of visibility. Because the submarine dive has no effects of pressure change on the body, people who are unfit to dive because of medical reasons are almost always allowed to dive with the submarine.

With the opening of the new facility, the whole family can enjoy diving. Another benefit of the new facility is its use for scientific marine research. The depths the submarine is capable of will allow scientists to reach parts of the ocean floor that have never been explored. With the vast size of the ocean, there are an infinite amount of unexplored territory. Using this submarine, scientists may be able to solve a new array of marine questions and tourists can say they were aboard the same submarine. Either way, the reviews from previous tourists have been nothing but positive so make sure you don't miss out next time you're in Curacao.

Default Curacao KTK Tugs Boats Marketing by Henry Veeris

KTK TUGS.
Link: http://www.ktktugs.com/

For centuries the Dutch Caribbean island of Curaçao, situated in the Southern Caribbean, has prided itself on being one of the most prominent maritime trading hubs in the region. And KTK Tugs has been an integral part of this strategic port’s development. We have extended our reach beyond Curaçao to provide professional cutting-edge services to the Caribbean, Central and South America, and have proven ourselves to be an industry leader in the region. As per July 2010 KTK has now started operations in Panama as KTK Panama S.A.We remain committed to being the most reliable choice for all in-harbor, coastal and ocean towage; salvage; barge and pontoon transportation; and emergency response jobs operating from our tugs stations in both Curacao and Panama.

AGREEMENT BETWEEN EVERGREEN AND KTK TUGS
The two new tugboats, the ‘KTK Tribon’ and the ‘KTK Barakuda’ from Kompania di Tou Kòrsou (KTK) were Christened in Colon, Panama at the end of July 2010. KTK had recently opened an establishment in Panama and hopes to secure a permanent market share in the towage industry with the two tugboats.

Immediately after the delivery of the two new tugboats, a concession deal was made with Evergreen Marine Corporation. According to the counterpart of CPA and KTK, Marcelino ‘Chonky’ de Lannoy, the carrier in Panama ships an estimated 1 million containers per year.
In comparison, De Lannoy states that 96,000 containers in total are shipped per year on Curaçao. KTK pays a certain commission per hour for the concession deal with Evergreen, contrary to the fixed concession payments maintained on Curaçao. “On the island, one pays a fixed amount to obtain the exclusive right for towing container ships from a certain carrier. This amount is charged annually irrespective of the number of orders one received. As a matter of fact, this is an issue one could look into in the future for possible adjustments” according to De

Apart from the contract with Evergreen, KTK will also pursue other orders from carriers that are not bound and publicly available on the market. The towing company wants to attend The Panama Maritime exhibition in February 2011 in Panama. The expectations are that one could run breakeven within one year. De Lannoy even expresses his assumption that the ‘breakeven’ could even be realized by the end of this year and states that the operating results will be closely monitored on a monthly basis.
