Lightbulb Shri Ganesh

Ganesha is a popular figure in Indian art. Unlike those of some deities, representations of Ganesha show wide variations and distinct patterns changing over time. He may be portrayed standing, dancing, heroically taking action against demons, playing with his family as a boy, sitting down or on an elevated seat, or engaging in a range of contemporary situations...A sahasranama is a Hindu hymn of praise in which a deity is referred to by 1,000 or more different names...There is a completely different second major version in which all of the names begin with the letter 'g' ( ग् )...

Lightbulb Shiraz

The Shiraz-Persepolis Festival of Arts was an arts festival held annually from 1967 to 1977 in the Iranian city of Shiraz. Its creation was suggested by Queen and Empress of Iran Farah Pahlavi and sponsored by National Iranian Radio & Television. The festival included music, dance and theater, performed in the ruins of Persepolis, and attracted national and international artists...

In 1974, Afghan master musicians at the suggestion of Lloyd Miller appeared in Shiraz during the Shiraz Arts Festival. Lloyd Miller & Dr. Safvat hosted them and arranged for them to be on the program. Since only serious traditional ethnic music was presented at Shiraz, Miller & Safvat asked the musicians to play solos on their instruments. Here are solos on tambur and dilruba. The concert was taped by NIRT and a copy was obtained by NIRT affiliated Lloyd Miller and released as a video in 1979...

The Cinematic Orchestra; 'Exodus' (music played during filming Flamingo migration), from The Crimson Wing soundtrack.

A little bit upbeat. Nice build-up from 5:20 onwards, spine-tingling trumpet near end, which accompanied the showing of a lone juvenile Flamingo making it to adulthood against low odds (high mortality for this population in the film).

Lightbulb Banco De Gaia - Apollo

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4igygDe8apI

The music of Banco de Gaia is best categorized as ambient dub, but Marks works to cross genres, often using Arabic and Middle Eastern samples against a bass heavy reggae, rock, or trance rhythm to produce deeply textured tracks that progress layer upon layer...

Wink Tammurriata Nera

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXMPryOrMhs

Tammurriata Black tells the story of a woman who gives birth to a child of colour, conceived by a soldier during the American occupation..The woman, however, accepts the child, with its strong maternal love.. The whole story is told by a kind of " greek chorus " , which is ironic about the fact that as the woman reversals points of view of the fact (Seh, vote and turns, seh seh, turns around and votes, seh) , or affibbi Italian names like Fat, Anthony, Peppe or Cyrus (you ca 'or chiamme Ciccio o' Ntuono, you ca 'or chiamme Peppe or Ggiro), who gave birth to the child is still black (chillo' or did you niro niro, niro niro comm'a cche)..The birth of the song was inspired by an incident that occurred in Nicolardi, he saw a commotion in the maternity ward at the hospital in Naples Loreto Mare, where he was Director of Administration...

Lightbulb Maha Mantra

The Hare Krishna mantra, also referred to reverentially as the Maha Mantra ("Great Mantra"), is a 16 word Vaishnava mantra which first appeared in the Kali-Santarana Upanishad, and which from the 15th century rose to importance in the Bhakti movement following the teachings of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu...
