Default The Clintons deliver

The Clintons deliver

Day two of the Democratic Convention started with a panel meeting at the International Leadership Forum organized by NDI and the Club de Madrid, which was opened by Bill Clinton. The day ended in the Convention Hall with a unifying speech by Hillary Clinton.

How to make democracy deliver?

Bill Clinton held a passionate speech calling each continent to focus the next 10 years on the question how to make democracy deliver? It is a question that goes to the heart of our NIMD programmes. Bill Clinton noted that people all over the world face difficulty in making democracy deliver. The world is awash with inequality, the world is full of insecurity (terrorism, crime, drugs, proliferation of weapons) and the world faces instability if we not address the consequences of global warming. Energy is at the heart of all three challenges. Good intentions need to be transformed into positive change. We need to dramatically improve the delivery capacity of democracy lest people do not loose trust in democracy. With reference to election campaigns he asserted that being elected is important and interesting, but the real challenge lies in the delivery.

In the debate that followed, former President Lagos of Chile referred to the dilemma of politicians who need a long-term vision for the implementation of economic and ecological challenges we face but are elected in office for limited terms. He argued that governments should set two or three priorities for implementation within their term in office and ensure that these are delivered. Kim Campbell, former prime minister of Canada, highlighted the challenge of the short election cycles of four years that tend to result in short-term agendas by politicians whereas dealing with the global warming threat a long-term approach requires. Bridging the short- and the long-term dynamics may provide an important key for improving the delivery capacity of democracies.

Meeting colleagues and African politicians

In the breaks of the panel discussions, time for meetings with colleagues of the Westminister Foundation for Democracy (WFD), the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), National Democratic Institute (NDI) and political party leaders from Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia. In the discussions with the party leaders from Kenya the progress in the preparation for a new constitution was discussed and the importance of using this opportunity to introduce institutional guarantees for a better gender balance in future within the representative institutions. With the leaders present from Zambia the political situation in that country was discussed following the death of President Manawasa and the impact on the on-going promising constitution making process that is taking place in Zambia. Also, the outcome of a recent exchange visit of Tanzanian political leaders to South Africa, facilitated by NIMD, was discussed. Important lessons were learned during this mission regarding the independent administration of elections.

Closing the ranks

The day ended in a packed Convention hall with the much awaited speech of Hillary Clinton. Politically, her speech was a defining moment for closing the ranks following the tough battle she and Barack Obama fought during the long primary season. Hillary really rose to the occasion as she delivered a rousing speech in which she declared herself ‘a proud supporter of Barack Obama'. ‘You don't want to suffer through eight more years of failed leadership' she stated, ‘the time is now to unite!' Judged by the enthusiasm of the people in the hall, she succeeded in closing the ranks at the Convention behind Barack Obama. In the coming days, the polls will tell whether she delivered.

Kufuor called to join Club de Madrid

Accra, Nov 13, Ghanadot - Ghana’s former President, John Agyekum Kufuor has officially been called into the Club de Madrid.

He was called together with Nigeria’s Olusegun Obasanjo, Festus Mogae, former President of Botswana and Ferenc Mádl, former President of Hungary. The announcement was made on Friday in Madrid, Spain.

The Club of Madrid is an independent organization dedicated to strengthening democratic values and leadership around the world by drawing on the unique experience and resources of its Members –more than 74 democratic former Heads of State and Government from more than 50 countries who contribute their time, experience and knowledge to this mission.

Some members of the Club were in Ghana recently to hold roundtable discussion on how they can be helpful to their individual countries. They were lauded by Ghana’s sitting President, John Mills for continuing to have the interest of countries at heart after serving various terms of office as Presidents.

The Club of Madrid, the world’s largest forum of former democratic Presidents and Prime Ministers also announced on Friday that Wim Kok, former Prime Minister of the Netherlands (1994-2002) has been appointed to preside over the organization, effective immediately.

Prime Minister Kok, who will hold office for the 2010-2013 term, becomes the third President of the Club of Madrid and replaces Ricardo Lagos, former President of Chile (2000-2006).

Ricardo Lagos has been invited to remain on the Board for a year in recognition of the support he can provide to incoming officers and the organization as a whole.

The new additions bring the total membership of Club of Madrid to 74 democratic former Heads of State from more than 50 countries.

So, what exactly is the Club of Rome and who are its members? Founded in 1968, the CoR describes itself as "a group of world citizens, sharing a common concern for the future of humanity." It consists of current and former Heads of State, UN beaureacrats, high-level politicians and government officials, diplomats, scientists, economists, and business leaders from around the globe.

The Club of Rome subsequently founded two sibling organizations, the Club of Budapest and the Club of Madrid. The former is focused on social and cultural aspects of their agenda, while the latter concentrates on the political aspects. All three of these 'Clubs' share many common members and hold joint meetings and conferences. As explained in other articles on this website it is abundantly clear that these are three heads of the same beast. The CoR has also established a network of 33 National Associations. Membership of the 'main Club' is limited to 100 individuals at any one time. Some members, like Al Gore and Maurice Strong, are affiliated through their respective National Associations (e.g. USACOR, CACOR etc).

Club of Madrid

(Redirected from Club de madrid) This article needs references that appear in reliable third-party publications. Primary sources or sources affiliated with the subject are generally not sufficient for a Wikipedia article. Please add more appropriate citations from reliable sources. (March 2009)

The Club of Madrid is an independent organization created for the purpose of promoting democracy and change in the global community. Its exclusive members are of exceptional merit, usually former heads of state and government who have the ability to work as catalysts for change. The Club of Madrid works with various governments and other organizations in search of effective methods to provide technical advice and recommendations to transitional nations taking steps closer to a democratic way of life. The Club consists of full members, who are preceding government officials who have full voting rights: including such distinguished members as former Soviet Leader Mikhail Gorbachev, former President of Brazil Fernando Henrique Cardoso, former President of the United States Bill Clinton, former President of Ireland Mary Robinson, and forty-four other former heads of government and state. Institutional members, who are members from various private and public organizations who share similar democratic objectives: such supporters include the Fundación para las Relaciones Internacionales y el Diálogo Exterior (FRIDE), founded by Diego Hidalgo Schnur and the Gorbachev Foundation of North America (GFNA), the original sponsors of the founding conference. Honorary members, who are notable members for their efforts and work with the Club; and fellows, who are experts in the area of democratic changeover.

The Club is based in Madrid, although meetings are held worldwide. Currently Ricardo Lagos, the former President of Chile, is the organization's president having assumed the presidency of the Club of Madrid during the 12th meeting of the Executive Committee, which took place in Stockholm on March 27. The previous president was Cardoso who had held the position as of 2004.

The Club was created when an unprecedented event took place in October 2001 in Madrid; a four day Conference on Transition and Consolidation (CDTC). This event brought together 35 world leaders, over 100 esteemed academics and policy specialists from Europe, The Americas, Asia, and Africa to discuss ideas and means of implementation from both objective and subjective perspectives. The conference discussed eight main topics:

legislature and its dealings with the executive,
the judiciary and its interaction with the executive,
anti-corruption procedures, the function and responsibility of armed forces and security forces,
reform of the state bureaucracy,
strengthening of political and social pluralism and of political parties,
economic and social conditions.

On March 24, 2006 Lagos inaugurated his own foundation called Democracia y Desarrollo ("Democracy and Development") in Santiago. Three days later he began a two-year term as President of the Club of Madrid— an exclusive organization of former presidents created by a Spanish philanthropist to promote democracy across the world. He also assumed co-chairmanship of the Inter-American Dialogue's Board of Directors.

On May 2, 2007, Lagos, along with Gro Harlem Brundtland and Han Seung-soo, was named by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as a Special Envoy on Climate Change. His appointment was and still is very controversial among Chilean environmental groups who questioned his track record on the matter, claiming that he 'showed an utter lack of consideration for the environment, promoted policies against environmental sustainability and favored the interests of big economic groups, even defending crimes against nature internationally', favouring large corporations every single time there was a clash between local communities, environmental concerns and perceived economic benefits.[4][5]

Quote:
The Moscow-New York Axis

by William F. Jasper

In his lengthy speech to the Central Committee of the Communist Party
on November 2, 1987, marking the 70th anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution, Mikhail Gorbachev stated: "In October 1917 we parted with the Old World, rejecting it once and for all. We are moving toward a new world, the world of Communism. We shall never turn off that road." Gorbachev was speaking in his capacity as a lifelong Communist and as general secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.

On December 23, 1989, Gorbachev declared to the Congress of People's Deputies assembled in Moscow, "I am a communist. For some that may be a fantasy. But for me it is my main goal." During a trip to Byelorussia on February 26, 1991, Gorbachev said, "I am not ashamed to say that I am a communist and adhere to the communist idea, and with this I will leave for the other world"

Gorbachev's deeds have not belied those words. As Soviet president, he surrounded himself with hardline Communists and KGB pros like Valentin Pavlov, Gennadi Yanayev, Dmitri Yazov, Boris Pugo, Vladimir Kryuchkov, et al. Since leaving office, he has continued to work with top Russian (i.e., Soviet) Communist Party and KGB leadership. He defends, praises and supports current Russian president (and former KGB/FSB chief) Vladimir Putin.

KGB defector Anatoliy Golitsyn, in his brilliant 1995 analysis The Perestroika Deception, charges: "Gorbachev and his strategists are not true democrats and never will be. They remain committed to socialism and Communism. They are a new, smoother generation of revolutionaries who are using 'democratic' reforms as a new method, based on Leninist principles, of achieving final victory." Gorbachev's words and deeds bear out Golitsyn's warning. Yet Gorbachev, Putin and company roll merrily on, assisted by what would seem to be the most unlikely accomplices.

On February 4, 1987, a high-level delegation from the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) visited Gorbachev in Moscow. Led by CFR chairman Peter G. Peterson, the group included Cyrus Vance, Henry Kissinger, Harold Brown, and Jeane Kirkpatrick. By this time, Gorbachev had already become close friends with Secretary of State George Shultz (CFR), later to become a board member of the Gorbachev Foundation. He also had already benefited immensely from glowing appraisals of his character, style and policies by the CFR-dominated media.

In his December 1988 address to the United Nations, Gorbachev voiced a familiar CFR refrain, stating that "further world progress is only possible through a search for universal human consensus as we move forward to a new world order." He went further in his famous 1992 "Churchill speech" in Fulton, Missouri, calling for "global government." To prevent "conflicts from developing into a worldwide conflagration," he said, we must put "certain national armed forces at the disposal of the Security Council, making them subordinate to the United Nations military command." The Los Angeles Times for May 7, 1992, got the headline right: "Gorbachev Backs World Government?'

After placing the Kremlin in the hands of Yeltsin and other supposed reformers, Gorbachev came on board the CFR "convergence" bandwagon fulltime. He was put in charge of the CFR-directed joint U.S.-Russian Global Security Project and then made a director of the Global Security Initiative. With the imprimatur of his CFR promoters, he was boosted to co-chairman of the Earth Charter Commission, made president of the new Green Cross International, and invited into the exclusive World Economic Forum. He has been showered with lavish corporate and foundation funding as well as priceless media propaganda for the activities of Green Cross, Foundation for the Development of Democracy and World Peace, Earth Charter Initiative, Gorbachev Foundation, and his many other enterprises.

His State of the World Forum soirees are graced by members of the CFR globalist elite such as Dwayne Andreas, Rupert Murdoch, George Soros, Zbigniew Brzezinski, Alan Cranston, Richard Falk, John Sweeney, and Colin Powell. Their investment of economic resources, influence and face time is well spent; Gorbachev is, arguably, one of the most successful advocates ever of the CFR's subversive twin objectives: U.S.-Russian convergence and transformation of the UN into an empowered world government.

Post Clinton Connects Overpopulation to Climate Change

Clinton Connects Overpopulation to Climate Change

Jurriaan Maessen
Infowars
November 7, 2009

http://www.theflucase.com/index.php?...mid=64&lang=en

Recent comments made by Clinton reflect the mindset of the neo-Malthusian scientists currently occupying key positions in the Obama administration.

During a visit to India in July of this year, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton revealed not only the administration’s commitment to tackle ‘global climate change’, but also her willingness to link it to overpopulation.

After a roundtable discussion with Indian Minister for Environment Jairam Ramesh, Clinton openly pondered this supposed link:

“One of the participants”, Clinton stated, “pointed out that it’s rather odd to talk about climate change and what we must do to stop and prevent the ill effects without talking about population and family planning.”

“That was an incredibly important point”, Clinton added. “And yet, we talk about these things in very separate and often unconnected ways.”

These recent comments made by Clinton reflect the mindset of the neo-Malthusian scientists currently occupying key positions in the Obama administration.

It may not come as a complete surprise to those who have studied the matter in some depth. The same Malthusian idea that triggered eugenics in the past now inspires the current environmentalist movement pushing global carbon taxes and other supranational measures, supposedly to ‘curb our carbon footprint’.

A couple of months before Clinton’s statements, LifeNews.Com reported on the comments by Clinton advisor Nina Fedoroff, who stated before BBC One Planet:

“We need to continue to decrease the growth rate of the global population; the planet can’t support many more people. There are probably already too many people on the planet.”

What we are witnessing here is the true mindset and ambition of the globalists and their cronies, namely to reduce the world’s population, the sooner the better. As the elite often admit, the current fixation on CO2 is just a pretext in order to get the job done.

I think you have the head and the tail mixed up.

The driving force of climate change is the UN and the International banks.

The Catholic Church has been in open opposition to some of the major policies of these two organisations for longer than I can remember.

There may be organisations within the Catholic Church influenced/controlled by the people with the real political/financial power but to suggest the Catholic Church (ie the Pope and his Jesuits) are the driver is crazy.

The power lies where the money is.

First, go to the other thread and prove Rockerfeller is a "Papel" (?) Knight of Malta, then come back here.

All you are doing at the moment is derailing a good thread with disinfo.

fucking hypocrite,

PRINCE Charles used up seven months’ worth of the average British person’s “carbon footprint” yesterday flying to Copenhagen on an executive jet to make a speech on climate change.

AL GORE CONFRONTS LORD MONCKTON IN COPENHAGEN!!!

(Reuters) Former Vice-President Al Gore angrily confronted one of his biggest detractors outside of the Climate Change conference in Copenhagen. Upon exiting the conference session on Tuesday, Gore noticed the so called Lord Monckton berating some college girls who were protesting corporate rape. Upon recognizing Monckton, Gore began briskly walking up to him shouting expletives. Gore's stride and manners already loosened by a bottle of Tennessee Sour Mash which he had stashed in his coat pocket.

"Hey fuckface! Fuckface!" Gore shouted until he was inches away from Monckton. "You want to start shit with me, 'Lord'?" Gore asked sarcastically. "Fuck you, Lord! I went to Viet Nam so we wouldnt have to bow to you tea slurping limey shit stains!".

"Viet Fucking Nam!" Gore repeated.

Not giving Monckton opprotunity to respond, Gore continued "You want to debate me? Debate me? I will destroy you!", pausing then adding for emphasis "I will wear your fucking ears around my neck!"

Gore then feigned a sudden move towards Monckton, causing him to flinch and fall backwards to the ground. Gore laughed and derisively added "Pussy! No more boom boom for this mama san" then pulled out his bottle for another gulp and walked past the stunned onlookers, leaving Monckton to be tended to by his personal Wackenhut security detail.

Sounds like time Gore squared up to Monckton for a frank and open debate on TV. My money is on Minckton 1st round knockout. I hope this was caught on camera, so that Monckton can use it to force the debate by accepting the challenge.

BREAKING,president of climate talks resigns at copenhagen

its more proceural than anything..

Climate conference president Hedegaard resigns
By CHARLES J. HANLEY (AP) – 12 minutes ago

COPENHAGEN — The Danish president of the U.N. climate conference, Connie Hedegaard, has resigned and will be replaced by the Danish prime minister as head of the historic talks.

The change was announced Wednesday as the 193-nation conference enters into a higher phase of negotiations, with world leaders arriving.

U.N. climate chief Yvo de Boer says Hedegaard will continue to lead informal talks but Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen will now be the formal head of the conference.

Hedegaard says it's appropriate for Loekke Rasmussen to preside with so many heads of state and government taking part.

The Pachauri Nexus

Date December 15, 2009 CategoryClimate

I did say so didn't I? Once Richard North has a hold on your ankles he will not let go. Rajendra Pachauri is just starting to realise this.

Quote:
US readers, for instance, might be intrigued to learn that their tax dollars take a four-way hit. There US government agencies pay into Pachauri's pot, the US Agency for International Development, the US Department of Energy and US Environment Protection Agency and the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, a US Department of Energy National Laboratory, also pays a contribution.
Lots more where that came from, and lots more to come too, I fancy.
