Default Cashless Society Closer Than We Think

Cashless society closer than we think

While the Greeks rush to hang on to any cash they can find, Denmark has predicted it'll be the first country in the world to get rid of notes and coins altogether.

They'll be replaced by plastic and tap and go technology as soon as next year.

And Australia might not be far behind.

^Step One. ^

Step Two: Little plastic cards are so easily lost. Would be a good idea to have a microchip tattoo on your arm which you could just swipe.

Step Three: Hmm, stick on tattoo's keep falling off, why not just have a real microchip tat? Very cool!!

Step Four: Oh Fuck it! Here, Just inject this chip into your body ( head or arm) And payment can be made simple with a nod of the head or a wave of the hand.

Job Done!!

I wonder how people will barter beyond that in terms of second hand goods, in boot sales etc...

Perhaps if this was to come into effect then people would have to regain a sense of community?
Start working together, grow crops in their gardens, barter and trade skills. Actually, nothing to stop this happening now, apart from apathy and hatred of neighbours

I'm married.

I read an article the other day which summed up reasoning for a 'cashless society' very nicely.

***

Quote:
With interest on deposits at next to nothing, or now slightly negative, the only reason for consumers to keep money in the bank is convenience....

...as long as paper money and your mattress are available, the Fed will not be able to fully implement its negative rate policy in its quest to create inflation. After all, there would be a global run on the banking system if rates were to fall into negative territory by more than just a few percentage points....
***

... The Terrifying Truth About The Elites Master Plan To Control Humanity

Quote:
So how can central banks and governments ensure rapid money supply growth and velocity if consumers have the option to hoard cash? 'They' have a solution to this. Make paper money illegal

If you outlaw hard cash, and make all money digital, there is no limit to how much borrowers can get paid to borrow and how much savers get charged to save. This would make it unprofitable to hoard cash, and compel people to consume and borrow electronic currency as fast as possible.
***

Orwellian Control

Quote:
Money in the bank would become the “hot potato”: as soon as it hits your bank account the race would be on to move it to the next person’s account. Whoever gets stuck with the money when the music ends pays a fee; that would be some increase in velocity! And vastly negative real interest rates would force the amount of leverage in the economy to explode.

This idea sounds fairly Orwellian–allowing central banks to control every aspect of monetary exchange and giving the Federal Government an electronic gateway to every financial transaction. But when you think about it, the idea of a fiat currency and the Federal Reserve were radical ideas before they became common place.

Indeed, this is exactly why the authors of our Constitution tried to ensure gold and silver would have the final and only say in the supply and value of money.

Just as gold once stood in the way of governments' desire to expand the money supply, physical cash is now deemed as a fetter to the complete control of savings and wealth by the state.

History is replete with examples of just how far governments will go to usurp control of people under the guise of the greater good.

A very very bad thing, imo. Those who cannot see a problem with it are yet asleep.

Stop spending, and then you won't be affected. Easy. It starts with growing your own food and ends with turning off your TV/newspaper subscription/social media. Until they make all that mandatory of course.

Most people will only see the negatives when it effects them.

Reducing the need for money is the best solution. If you don't need money, then what happens with money doesn't affect you.

There is still a long way to go.... It is logistically impossible for this to happen "overnight"

It is scary!!

What about drug dealers???? They dont deal in plastic.

The government wants to keep that going.
Dealing and buying.

But seems that cashless sociely would really effect the illegal drug industry.

Any economists on here? lol
