Default 115 Lords who did not debate last year claim £1.2m in taxpayers' cash

New expenses scandal as 115 'couch potato' Lords who did not debate last year claim £1.2m in taxpayers' cash

"Figures show that 115 peers who did not speak during debates in the UK Parliament's upper house were paid £1.2m in expenses while a further 277 who spoke five times or fewer received £4m.

A study of speaking and expenses records by the Electoral Reform Society (ERS) showed how 394 peers who contributed to debates 10 times or fewer paid £7.3m and more than half got more than the average UK salary of £22,226.25. Peers are paid a daily allowance of £300.

Tory peer Baroness Flather claimed £37,932.00 in expenses for 2016/17 but did not vote once.

Meanwhile, Lord Laird claimed £48,279 and only voted twice; Lord Paul got £38,100 and voted seven times; while Baroness Afshar claimed £34,966 and voted only three times, the Mirror reported.

ERS chief executive Darren Hughes said: "There appears to be a growing something for nothing culture in our upper house, with tidy sums being claimed by those who barely contribute."

Oh look Politicians swinging the lead, is anyone surprised - The house of Lords is over manned, over paid and badly in need of reform.
A situation not helped by fashionable political appointments - thus increasing the numbers with people who have no understanding of the systems and institutions.

A smaller Lords makes sense - and one not elected by the people - although I agree the current selection process is flawed.
A non political body that can challenge Parliaments a good thing
Imagine a massive Labour / Tory majority pushing through a very ideological agenda - an unelected HofL scrutiny can limit that.

But oh look yet again behind the headlines - as with the MPs expenses scandal we only notice Torys and go very quiet when a non tory is caught. (Media not DI)

That's because were still pushing the Tory = rich bad and labour working class mantra knowing the sheep* will lap it up (Theres as many upper class rich types with labour)

Hiding behind justice and stopping corruption - but as ever really trying to spark the hate divide - something that everyone spots in the mail or sun - but not in the star or mirror which are just as bad - different targets though-.

The one that justifies Tory Scum, and threats of violence and criminal damage against tory property.

Of course we accept this because we don't like Tories - and they deserve it because the left are the good people.

One day though - it will come back and bite us
Much like it being acceptable to Physically attack Nazis** - and stop them speaking - thus undermining the very same free speech and liberty we think were defending

**They should always be challenged - but that doesn't mean or need 1000 antifa thugs attempting to violently close with 20 Nazi mongs

They go on about benefit scroungers and single mums being a drain on public finances, but in reality these are parasites who do nothing but take massive amounts of money for nothing!

99% of the human race are useless eaters, and we all know it.

Plus before anyone says, i would be one too, and i always say i am too, like the others in that 99%.

For me people can spend uk, israel, usa into oblivion for all i care.
